Ashbourne & District Canine Society

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge terriers and stakes at this lovely show, what a hard-working, vibrant committee you have, who made us feel welcome all day. Thank you to all the exhibitors for their top quality entries. Thanks so much to my steward Colin who did an efficient job and made the day fun and enjoyable.

Border Terrier

P (5,2) 1 Tarkaswell Highland Fling. Topped this class of a mix of ages and shapes for her overall constructional balance on the move today. Appeals for size and has good coat. The most forward in development in this class today. 2 Ragtam Eros. Liked his overall shape, size and bone. Excellent coat and tail. Wasn’t quite so settled on the move as 1 today, but has plenty to time ahead of him. 3 Fisherbloom Singin Hinnie.

SY (5, 2) 1 Tarkaswell Highland Fling. 2 Olliesorchid Dame of Ragatam. Well coated and in good muscle, standing on excellent feet. Went around well enough but was tending to move away rather wide behind.

PG (6, 3) 1 Fisherbloom Don’t Stop Me Now at Louajak. On his toes and up for the job, he appeals for overall balance and moderation. Has a good head, neck, and shoulder, and strength in topline. Super pelt. Sound away and back and covers the ground well going around, BoB. 2 Tarkaswell Highland Fling. 3 Mysulan Easy Going with Fryerfold.

O (8, 3) 1 Baillieswells Ncn’ean. A tidy sort and usefully constructed. Went around well but is a bit short in upper arm which affected front action. Balanced in sjull proportions and stacks up freely with ease, showing off his attributes. His nails need attention! 2 Tarkaswell Sea The Stars. A bit hesitant on the move today and rather lacklustre unfortunately. Presented in very good order, very fit! Excellent topline standing and moving. 3 Otterwood Nemesis Del Sextonmagic.

Manchester Terrier

What a lovely breed to judge, with so much quality present.

SY (3) Janmark Jaunty. Really liked this smart, balanced, typical youngster who was game and up for it! Liked her head proportions and ears, neck, shoulder and topline. Great hind angles, giving balance and no exaggeration. Moved out style and verve, uses herself to her best going around. Well coloured and marked. BoB. 2 Jandor Moonlight Melody. Another good one of type, but tended to fight the lead today on the move unfortunately. A decent sort with lots of attributes, but is a bit steep in upper arm and lifts a bit in front coming towards. 3 Ruffagga Bewitching Girl.

PG (1) 1 Plantocracy Hermione at Ruffagga. Well bodied b of decent proportions, handles well. Has a good head and jaw. Didn’t seem particularly settled on the move today, and her nails need some attention.

O (6) 1 Ch Talanors Diamonds N Dreams Avec Janmark JW ShCM. Quality male showing to advantage. Really liked his head proportions and ears. Balanced fore and aft, he has a strong topline and loin, and uses himself extremely well on the move. Sound away and back, and standing on well shaped feet. Another well marked. Close call for BoB but his younger kennelmate just edged ahead with her energy on the go around. A close RBoB. 2 Talanors Time for Magic. Another good sort who was really up for it and showing to advantage. Excellent wedge head, good feet, colour, topline, and moved around well. Just not quite so tidy away and back as the winner. 3 Plantocracy Bold Bruce JW.

Cairn Terrier

P (3) 1 Seveek Guilded Dream. What a superstar! Totally blew me away this young d – I’d love to own and show him! Superb for type all through, everything is in balance and moderation and he is so extremely sound for his age. Well put together fore and aft, he uses himself so well going around, and away and back. Has bags of attitude, totally up for it, he knows he’s special. Will watch his progress with interest – good luck! RBOB, BP, PG1. 2 Cannwood Can’t Get Enough. Another promising youngster, lots of like but just needs time. Great coat. Bit longer cast than the winner and needs to settle to the job and enjoy it more to show off his many attributes.

SY (2) 1 Seveek Licence To Dream. A tidily made youngster of balance, who free stands exceptionally well to show off all of her attributes. Liked her balance of head, and construction fore and aft. Strong in topline, and with a good tail and super coat. Moves around well, just needs to settle in front action. 2 Cannwood Quiet Reflections. Longer than 1 and with larger eyes. Another keen sort with a good attitude. Soundly made, and in good coat.

PG (1) 1 Seveek Carry On The Dream. Well coated d of good type. A tad stronger in head, but with good eyes ears and jaw. Better to assess on the floor as he was a tad hesitant on the move. Needs to be moved out quicker as tended to go a shade wide behind.

O (3,1) Liked both in this class, as they each have many breed attributes. Both are balanced in construction and presented in excellent order. 1 Seveek Everlasting Dream, was just a bit better in head and front which edged her to BoB, just ahead of 2 Trekhilli Pepperazzi.

Jack Russell Terrier

P (4) 1 Twinan Wild As The Wind. Super wee dog with bags of attitude! Loved his head and eye, and good strong jaws. Well placed shoulder and strength in topline. He is balanced in hind angles and pulls it all together to produce a very tidy action on the move. Presented in first class order as one would expect. RBOB & BP. 2 Lovely Orange Crystall Shimmer For Chandlimore Exciting baby with much promise for her young age. Exciting going around – really eats up the ground, and equally sound away and back. One to watch! 3 Cedarhill First Edition.

SY (3) 1 Lovely Orange Geefjon Jaeva. Really impressed by this super tidy young b – we will be seeing a lot more of her! Smart headpiece with balanced skull – strong but feminine. Superb shoulder and upper arm giving length and strength of neck. Solid in topline with a well set on tail. Great hind angles with width of thigh and low hocks. Easily spannable. Moved out with such accuracy, ground cover, and drive. Claimed BoB from this strong entry and then took it up a level in the group to win it. 2 Fast Love With Locheil. Workmanlike sort, with a lot of quality. Great head and eye, topline, bone, and tail. Shade longer than the winner and didn’t quite have the shoulders of 1. 3 Jackopeaks This Is Me.

PG (2) 1 Mindlen Deoiridh to Cedarhill. Substantial b of lovely type. Useful sort who is presented in first class order. Clean through the neck and shoulder with balance of hind angles. Moved out with strong driving action. Just a shade longer which showed in her topline at times. 2 Jackopeaks Bakewell Puddin. Really young b presented in first class condition. Stands on good feet with strong pasterns. Tends to roach topline a bit, and wasn’t quite moving as true as 1.

O (6, 2) 1 Kaszavolgyi Furge Amber Jaeva. Neatly made b with soundness throughout. Another who has balance of angles in her construction fore and aft. Presented in great coat and condition – fit and hard. 2 Lovely Orange See You Again At Chandlimore. Real gassy sort with lots of attitude. Feminine all through, and quite the showgirl! Liked her balance and soundness throughout. Free stands perfectly to show off her lovely shape. 3 Tiltser Manhatton.

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

P (1) 1 Silkcroft Wildest Dreams. Happy and outgoing young b who showed herself to advantage. Liked her overall outline, construction, and balance. Moves soundly away and back. Needs time to mature as her brother is little more forward than her at present, but I’m sure she will mature on very well.

SY (1) 1 Silkcroft Shake It Off. Bother to P winner, but a bit more forward in his development at the moment. Really liked this young d and I’m sure he will go on to do very well. Grand head, with strength of jaw and square muzzle. Excellent forehand, with well laid shoulder. Strong in topline for his age with a well set on tail. Makes good use of himself going around, and is sound away and back. BoB & BP & PG4 in a hotly contested puppy group.

O (1) 1 Flexela Perfect Storm. Well up to size very mature d with a lot of presence. Head appeals for length and strength in jaw. Strong topline, and has well angled and muscled quarters. Tail well set on, and presented in first class condition. Doesn’t have the front angles of the BoB, and his coat is rather tightly curled, so he had to settle for RBoB today.

AVNSC Terrier

What a great NSC entry; such depth of quality throughout the classes.

P (8) 1 Classic Touch of Morningsky with Feorlig. What a smart youngster with so much promise. So sound and so balanced for her age, she has a cheeky demeanour and a bit of extra attitude which really appeals. Excels in angulation fore and aft, with length of rib and strength of topline. Presented immaculately. BNSCP. 2 Watercroft On Your Marks. Really tidy sort this one, so balanced and well made, and presented in great coat and good order. Liked her head which is feminine but has useful strength. Liked her compact shape. Stands up freely very nicely, and moved out so well. Close up to 1 for sure! 3 I Can Boogie At Jaeva.

SY (6, 2) 1 Watercroft Gold Leaf. What a beauty! Super typy Nofolk of balance and moderation all through. Great head of balance, with strength in skull and jaw. Has a well laid shoulder and flows smoothly down her short back to well set tail. Stands on straight limbs and has neat tidy feet. She moved out so well with propulsion from the rear. Best NSC 2 Tulsadoom Meshuggeneh. Really liked this Bull Terrier who has such an endearing character. Excellent head shape, with the desired piercing glint – and a hint of mischief! Goes around so well, and is tidy enough away and back. Nails need some attention which will improve her feet. 3 Toolbox Yes Why Not at Squidlyannes.

PG (7,3) 1 Nileda Mister Joe. This young man didn’t want to co-operate today, he had other things on his mind! However, he was good to handle on the table and did enough to be assessed on the move. Good sort of Sealyham with balance in construction and strength all through. 2 Miteymidgets New Vision. Just a youngster, this Bedlington puppy fared well in this adult company. Moved around well enough, but needs to tighten in front and nails need some attention. 3 Watercroft Tea Cosy.

O (12, 3) 1 Watercroft Blackmail. Another typical Norfolk from this kennel, presented in first class order. Masculine headed male with strength of jaw. Really liked his shoulder placement and topline. Well set on tail and strong powerful hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move. Needs to gain confidence in himself. 2 Icepeak V D Bismarckquelle to Kanix. Quite a large but equally upstanding SFT with a clean and attractive outline. Grand head with great length and strength. Has a keen bright eye and great attitude. Excellent shoulders, topline, and tail. Well angled and balanced behind with low hocks. Moved around well, but tended to pin a bit coming towards. 3 Greay Gatsby Ze Zihelske Sahrady.

AV Terrier V (4, 2) 1 Ch Talanors Diamonds N Dreams Avec Janmark JW ShCM, who I was delighted to hear went BVIS. 2 Tobaine Earth Song. Tidy Bedlington of a nice type, but has long nails! Good bite and teeth, and presented in decent order. Moved out well enough.

Terrier Group This was a numerically small group but so full of quality that anything could have happened. The final winner was the foot perfect Jack, very closely followed by the super typy Norfolk from NSC. Into third and fourth were two youngsters with the Border Terrer third and Manchester fourth.

Terrier Puppy Group. Dare I say it, even more depth of quality here than in the adult group – what exciting prospects for the future. The ultra typical Cairn came out victorious as his adorable attitude could not be denied. Second was the beautifully made Skye, third the top quality Jack and fourth the exciting young Wheaten.

Stakes

MPD (18) 1 Saimons Praide Victorious Brabus. Smashing RR of excellent construction and proportions throughout. Foot perfect away and back, he really covers the ground with power going around. 2 Soletrader Special Effect. Really lovely PBGV with such an endearing character. Lots to like and bags of potential. 3 Glenariff Mojito.

MPB (30) 1 Sutarka’s Angelica at Arcticskies. Striking Siberian of great construction and balance throughout. Such imposing stature and great attitude. On the move this young b really excels – covers the ground with such economy of gait and accuracy of footfall. One to watch! 2 Macarica Fair and Square. Really liked this Spinone a lot, what a super type. Great head proportions and clean eyes. Neatly and soundly constructed throughout. Really comes alive on the move with such a sound, accurate and purposeful gait. 3 Cocosamel Camelia.

PD (18) Two smart young dogs topped this class, each have many breed attributes and can really move – this big ring was definitely to their advantage! 1 Highforce All or Nothing, a quality Vizsla who really covers the ground. Young and mischevious, his outgoing attitude really appealed! 2 Valger Snow Patrol at Imaniz. What a smart young GSP. Bags of type and very sound, he just needs some more confidence in himself. 3 Derdledash Naughty Neptune.

PB (21) 1 Bargemon High Society. Really nice type of Bearded Collie with soundness and balance of construction without exaggeration throughout. Great head shape, with good eyes. Well laid shoulder, topline, and good ribbing. Excellent angles and low hocks behind. Moved out so well, just ate up the gound as she went around – I’m sure she will go on to great things. 2 Soneve Birthday Surprise. Smartly made typical Golden with good length of leg. Was a little hesitant on the move at first, but soon gained confidence to move out with aplomb. 3 Cococavana Lhamco Lacao at Skylax.
