Ashbourne & District Canine Society

My thanks to the Officers and Committee for their kind invitation to judge the Hound breeds and Group at this lovely show and my congratulations to them for running the day so efficiently despite all the new restrictions. My grateful thanks to my wonderful steward Geraldine Dodd for keeping the ring running well as always and to all exhibitors for your entry.


Basenji


Special Yearling (3)

1st Hardy & Hallum. Tokaji Kiss Me Kate. Absolutely stunning bitch. Beautifully balanced all through with proud head carriage. Head is of the correct shape with flat skull and clean cheeks and wrinkle over the forehead. Long, well arched neck leading to superbly set shoulders and corresponding length of upper arm. Short, level back with well sprung rib. Elbows tight to the brisket. Good length of thigh with moderate turn of stifle. Good, free ground covering movement. BOB, G1 and delighted to hear that she later was award RBIS.

2nd Baker. Silverbriar Safiya. Well balanced all through. Head of good shape with well defined wrinkle. Not quite the forehand construction of the winner. Short back with good spring of rib. Well let down hocks. Moved freely - not quite as accurate coming towards. RBOB.

3rd Stratton. Ahimè Cinnamon Swirl For Justartee


Basset


Puppy (1)

1st Jones. Clanwillow The Emerald King. Well balanced with good substance all through. Domed head with moderate stop and well pronounced occiput. Ears set low. Excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep long body with prominent breastbone. Well ribbed back. Needs to strengthen in topline but this will come. Strong hindquarters with well bent stifles. Excellent bone and feet. Sound mover. BP RBOB


Post Graduate (1)

1st Jones. Clanwillow Diamond Miracle. Very strongly built with great substance. Well balanced all through. Head of good length with slight stop and well pronounced occiput. Low set ears of good length. Well arched neck leading to well laid-back shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Breast bone prominent. Good depth and width of chest. Well ribbed back. Strong, well muscled hindquarters with well bent stifles and strong hocks. Good purposeful movement. BOB.


Beagle


Post Graduate (2, 1)

1st Keepence & Keyte. Redcap Northern Lights over Alandobel. Good overall balance. Head well shaped with very appealing expression. Well defined stop and low set ears. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulders. Deep chest. Level topline and ribs carried well back. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh and well bent stifles. Moved well on good stride. RBOB.



Open (3, 1)

1st Caple. Morsefield Mudlark. Excellent overall balance. Head of good breadth with dark eye and very appealing expression. Good length of neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest with close to the body. Excellent topline. Correctly sprung ribcage. Strong, well muscled hindquarters with hocks set square to the ground. Correct amount of bone with excellent feet. Moved with reach and drive showing a good open side gait. BOB

2nd Phillips & Keyte. Lanesend Segenhoe JW ShCM. Excellent balance presenting very good outline. Clean head with good stop. Neck of good length leading to well laid shoulder. Firm topline with good depth of chest and well sprung rib. Not quite the turn of stifle of the winner nor the drive on the move.


Dachshund (Min Smooth-Haired)


Puppy (3)

1st Hunt. Carpaccio Red Rock. Well balanced all through with correct length to height ratio. Head of good length with clean cheeks and well set ears. Well angulated forequarters with front legs well under the body. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Hindquarters well made - just needs to strengthen which will come. Moved soundly.

2nd Mutton. Montone Thats So Raven. Good overall balance. Head well proportioned with high set ears. Well laid shoulder with prominent breast bone. Not quite the topline of the winner. Well made hindquarters. Moved well.

3rd Herald. Stargang Zebra Finch.


Special Yearling (3,1)

1st Hunt. Carpaccio Red Crystal. Very smart puppy presenting excellent outline. Good length of head with dark eye. High set ears. Clean neck leading to super forehand construction with shoulder laid back and corresponding return of upper arm. Prominent breastbone with good depth of chest but at the same time she has good ground clearance. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters used to advantage on the move. BP RBOB. PG3.

2nd Mutton. Montone Bear Ly Red. Another well balanced youngster. Well shaped head with high set ears. Well laid shoulder. Elbows well placed. Not quite the length in ribcage as the winner. Well made hindquarters. Good, sound movement.


Post Graduate (3)

1st Mutton. Ivan Poddubny Iz Imskoi Kreposti For Montone (Imp Rus). Good overall balance. Head of good length. Well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Chest of good depth. Well ribbed back. Level topline with long croup and well angulated hindquarters. Moved on a good stride.

2nd Herald. Winterfields June of Arabia. Well balanced with correct height to length proportions. Head of good length. Good layback of shoulder with prominent breast bone. Not quite the length in ribcage as the winner. Well made hindquarters. Movement a little untidy coming towards.

3rd Corominas. Luna Nueva De Los Olivos De Quinto


Open (4, 1)

1st Starkey. Carpaccio Black Obsidian For Hamoura. Excellent overall balance with correct height to length ratio. Also shows good ground clearance. Head of good length with broad, high set ears. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Prominent breast bone and good depth of chest. Well ribbed back. Level topline with good length of croup. Well made hindquarters - used to advantage on the move. BOB.

2nd Mutton. Montone Be Brave. Shorter in body than the winner. Head of good shape with high set ears. Well laid shoulder with corresponding length of upper arm. Good depth of chest. Strongly made hindquarters. Not as tidy in movement as the winner.

3rd. Luna Nueva De Los Olivos De Quinto



Dachshund (Min Wire-Haired)


Puppy (2,1)

1st Dance. Emem Letty Bee Sunshine. Well balanced all through and very together for her age. Good head shape with high set ears. Neck clean leading to good lay of shoulder and upper arm of equal length. Chest of good depth. Well ribbed back. Level topline. Highquarters well developed. Good, ground covering movement. BP, RBOB, PG4.


Open (2,1)

1st Dance. Ch Emem Constance Sunshine JW. I was very taken with this bitch. Excellent overall balance. Correct height to length ratio and displaying correct ground clearance. Head of good shape and excellent furnishings. Long neck leading to well laid shoulder and correctly angulated upper arm. Chest of good depth. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Strong, well muscled hindquarters. Good bone and strong feet with short nails (lacking in a lot today). Coat of excellent harsh texture. Powerful movement - parallel both out and back and ground covering when viewed in profile. BOB & G2.



Dachshund (Smooth-Haired)


Puppy (2)

1st Hunt. Carpaccio Silver Dollar. Well balanced all through with correct height to length ratio. Well shaped head of good length. Long neck leading to excellent forehand construction and prominent breastbone. Level topline with long croup. Well ribbed back. Well made hindquarters. Moved well on a good stride. BP.

2nd Starkey. Carpaccio Magnum Pi At Hamoura. Litter brother to winner. He needs to condition up as he is very light through his loin and hindquarters at the moment. Very good head shape with high set ears. Deep chest with good ground clearance. Level topline. Sound movement.


Special Yearling (2,1)

1st Hunt. Pelirroja Joined Forces With Carpaccio. Smart young dog of 14 months. Excellent overall balance. Head of good length. Ears high set. Long, clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Excellent front keel. Good depth of chest with good ground clearance. Well ribbed. Scores in hindquarters. Moved out on a good stride. RBOB/


Open (2)

1st Stark. Adnerbs Won Vision of Gobannium JW. Very smart bitch with excellent well balanced outline. Well shaped head, proudly carried. Long clean neck leading to good lay of shoulder. Well pronounced breastbone. Deep chest but still the correct ground clearance. Well ribbed back. Level topline and long croup. Broad rump with well angulated hindquarters. Movement parallel fore and aft with good length of stride when viewed in profile. BOB.

2nd Hunt. Carpaccio Suchard. Well balanced all through with correct height to length ratio. Head well shaped with high set ears. Well laid back shoulder with equal length of upper arm. Deep chest with good ground clearance. Level topline. Not as short in loin as the winner. Moved on a good stride.


Dachshund (Wire-Haired)


Puppy (8, 2)

1st Brierley. Bramalodge Bonfire Heart. I liked this puppy very much indeed. Excellent overall balance with correct height to length ratio. Lovely head shape with good furnishings. Long neck leading to correct lay of shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Prominent breastbone. Deep chest but showing good ground clearance. Well ribbed back to short loin. Level topline. Broad rump and well angulated hindquarters. Coat of excellent density. Well presented and handled. Moved on a good stride. BP & PG1.  

2nd Hastings. Leiblings Says Simon (AI). Another very promising puppy who was just giving away a little in age today. Well balanced all through. Well shaped head with good furnishings. Excellent length of neck. Correct forehand assembly, just needs to strengthen in pasterns but this will come. Well ribbed back with short loin. Well angulated hindquarters. Harsh coat. Moved well on an even stride.

3rd Thomson. Ambiesque Avail at Soneve


Special Yearling (5, 2)

1st Matthews. Sonham Saucy Saffron. Good overall balance. Head of good length and shape with excellent beard. Long neck leading to good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Prominent breast bone. Deep chest. Level topline. I would like a little more length of rib. Broad rump. Well angulated hindquarters. Excellent coat. Moved out well on a good stride.

2nd Dickenson. Derdledash Dakota At Dakotadax. Not quite the overall outline of the winner. Head of good length and ears high set. Well laid shoulder. Not quite the prominence in breastbone of winner. Level topline and good length of croup. Well made hindquarters. Coat of good texture. Moved soundly.

3rd Turner & Merrifield. Cloudside Tomfoolery


Post Graduate (3,2)

1st Eldred. Derdeldash Moonbeam. Good overall balance. Correct height to length ratio. Well shaped head. Clean neck. Could strengthen in pasterns. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Coat of good density. Would like more animation on the move.


Open (3, 2)

Hard to separate these two dogs. Now I see they are litter brothers!

1st Matthews. Stanegate Billy The Kid at Sonham JW. Excellent overall balance with correct height to length ratio and showing correct ground clearance. Head of good length and shape with excellent furnishings. Long clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and equal length of upper arm. Well pronounced breastbone. Correct through ribcage and loin. Broad rump with well muscled hindquarters. Coat of excellent texture. Moved really well with good drive. BOB & G3.

2nd Graham. Stanegate Shot In The Dark JW. Another top quality dog who on another day could change places. Good head shape and furnishings. Long neck leading to good forehand construction. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. Excellent coat texture. Moved well - not quite the drive of winner. RBOB.


AVNSC Hound


Puppy (10, 4)

1st Cooper. Jayanel Peppermint Party (GBGV). At nearly a year old this bitch had the edge on maturity over the 2nd placed puppy. Well balanced all through. Head nicely doomed with well defined occiput. Strong neck leading to well laid shoulder and elbows close to the body. Good depth of chest. Ribcage carried well back. Level topline. Strong hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle. Very free mover with excellent forward reach. BP, RBOB & PG2

2nd Lewin. Soletrader Special Effect. (PBGV). At just 6 months old this puppy was attending his first show and completely unfazed by it all! Good overall balance. Head of good shape and well carried. Scores in his forehand construction with front legs well under the body. Excellent topline. Well ribbed back with short loin. Excellent coat texture. Moved well - just needs to tighten but this will come.  

3rd Doughty. Saimon’s Praide Victorious Brabus (Rhodesian Ridgeback)


Special Yearling (6, 3)

1st Wedge. Dolan Summertime Blues (Dachshund Long-Haired). Good overall balanced with correct height to length ratio. Long head with broad, high set ears. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulder and equal length of upper arm. Good ground clearance beneath the chest. Well ribbed back. Level topline with long croup. Well turned stifles. Moved freely on a good stride.

2nd Mycroft. Supeta’s Little Darlin’. Good overall balance. Lean head with nicely tapered muzzle. Good length of neck. Chest of good depth with well sprung ribcage. Well angulated hindquarters with correctly let down hocks set square to the ground. Good length of stride in profile - not quite as tidy coming towards as winner.

3rd Kirk-Vickers. Geordele Time To Shine at Istani


Post Graduate (8, 4)

1st Wedge. Dolan Johnny Be Good (Dachshund Long-Haired). Excellent overall balance with correct height to length ratio. Head of good shape and proudly carried. Long neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Prominent breast bone. Well ribbed back. Level topline with long croup. Broad rump and strongly made hindquarters. Coat in excellent condition. Moved well with good length of stride. BOB & G4

2nd Whitaker-Crosby. Crosscop May Be One More At Mulcair JW. Very feminine bitch with good head shape and well set ears. Long neck leading to well laid shoulder. Deep in chest. Smooth arch over the loin with well defined tuck up. Strong hindquarters with well bent stifles. Moved on a good stride.  

3rd Vincent. Dolan Save The Last Dance For Gainscroft (Dachshund Long-Haired)


Open (8, 6)

1st Vincent. Tan Socks At Gainscroft (Dachshund Min Long-Haired). Good overall balance. Head of good length with well set ears. Well laid back shoulder with corresponding length of upper arm. Breastbone well pronounced. Deep chest. Level topline and good length of croup. Well made hindquarters. Good coat texture. Moved on a good stride.

2nd Phillips. Summerview Minnie Mouse (Dachshund Min Long-Haired). Good height to length ratio however I would like a little more ground clearance. Head of good length with high ear set. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Not quite the strength in hindquarters as the winner.


AV Hound Veteran

1st Hardy & Hallum. Ch Tokaji California Dreaming. (Basenji) Top quality bitch. Excellent balance and outline. Beautiful head shape with excellent wrinkles. Well crested neck leading to well laid shoulder. Elbows tight to the brisket. Excellent length of foreleg. Short back with well sprung rib and short loin. Tail curled tightly over the spine. Well made hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle and hocks well let down and parallel to the ground. Excellent bone and feet. Shown in tiptop condition. Moved freely on a good length of stride.  

2nd Eldred. Bramalodge Amiety At Derledash (Wire-Haired Dachshund). Excellent overall balance with correct height to length ratio. Well shaped head with good furnishings. Long clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep chest with good ground clearance. Well ribbed back with short loin. Broad rump. Well turned stifles. Coat of good texture. Moved out well on a good stride.

3rd Starkey. Ch Carpaccio Jasper From Hamoura ShCM VW. (Smooth-Haired Dachshund).
