LOCHABER & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

SUNDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2021

MISS ANNE BRYSON (INUKSHUK)

Possibly the most beautiful drive to a Show and best outdoor rings I have ever encountered. Thank you to the committee for the opportunity to judge my beloved breed at such a welcoming and well run show and for arranging such a lovely steward to share the day. I must also thank the considerate exhibitors who sensibly stayed away to safeguard against the spread of kennel cough. I was deeply saddened to learn on completion of judging that a further exhibit had very recently died: a truly great working dog I have long admired in harness. Taken far too young, may he wear his silver harness with pride.

PUPPY(0)

GRADUATE (3, 2)

1) Heaton-Armstrong's ACRYSE HIGHLAND FIREFLY SHCM Dilute red and white, youthful 10 year old dog in harmony with his handler. Would prefer more length of body and leg. Ribs well sprung. Level topline, good croup, tailset and carriage. Balanced angulation front and rear. Feet compact and oval. Correct earset. Eyes almond shaped and obliquely set giving friendly expression. Precise foot placement in side profile but moving a little narrow in the rear on the out and back.

POSTGRADUATE (4, 1)

1) Emery's CHATANIKA's DRAGONGIRL OVER NAVAJOS 4 yr old white bitch in lean, hard, working condition. Excellent body proportions with good length of loin and slight arch over. Excellent slope to croup, tailset and carriage. Good length of neck, nicely arched, leading into well laid back shoulder of good length equalling that of upper arm. Lovely slope to pasterns and excellent feet. Gorgeous head typifying the well chiselled fox-like appearance. Light footed ground covering gate, sound from all angles. BOB and very pleased to see her win WG1

2) Emery's POLARCREEK ATIGUN PASS TO NAVAJOS 5 yr old grey and white dog of correct proportions and bone. Super angulation front and rear, with especially pleasing shoulder but being picky would prefer more slope to pasterns. Good coat and muscling. Beautiful head, masculine but refined, my notes simply say "exquisite." Thoroughly enjoying his day and giving his handler a hard time, when more settled he single tracked with a good ground covering gait and pushed hard in the RBOB Challenge.

3) Heaton-Armstrong's ACRYSE HIGHLAND FIREFLY SHCM - see above, Graduate winner

OPEN (6, 3)

1) Casola's CH PODRICALS STARLITE EXPRESS JW Almost 10 year old grey and white quality bitch. Petite but within the breed standard, with moderate bone and correct proportions. Good length of loin, excellent croup, tailset and carriage. Good rear angulation. Being picky would prefer a little more slope to pasterns. Excellent compact oval feet. Typical balanced head, beautiful almond shaped obliquely set eyes giving softest of expression. Smooth effortless gait, very tidy, but just not quite the drive or ground covering of her competition in the challenge. RBOB

2) EMERY's NAVAJOS AGENT UTAH 8 yr old of lovely breed type, in super working condition and coat. He demonstrated correct bone and body proportions, level topline and slightly arched loin. Excellent angulation throughout and with super shoulders. Being very picky, would prefer a little more arch to feet. Beautiful head, all the right proportions and planes . Excellent high earset, gentle eyes yet the most mischievous expression. Very exuberant in the breed class, he settled for the AV Working Special Veteran and (finally) demonstrated the super movement expected of him. I was thrilled to see him go all the way to Special Best Veteran in Show.
