East of England Open Show 07/07/2021 – Alex Paisey

My many thanks to all the exhibitors who entered under me today, we are still relatively new to shows returning and lovely to see smiling faces and excellent sportsmanship. More importantly I feel privileged to have been able to put my hands on some good dogs today who I believe will go onto great things. Thank you to the organisers of the show for putting on an excellent show for exhibitors. Finally a thank you to my wonderful steward to who kept us going at an efficient rate.

Beagle

Puppy

1 – Coates’ Gladstyle Magic Moment & BP – A smart lad displaying the term merry and showing promising proportions throughout. Masculine expression and head, with good ear shape. Nice length of neck leading to an appropriate front. Body of good shape and length, holding his topline on the move. A good rear assisting in ground being covered. Good tail carriage.

Junior

1 – Tofts’ Jarrowley Tolpuddle – Strong dog with substance. Pleasant head of proportions and a nice ear. Strong neck and of good length. A well laid shoulder giving reach. Nice shape to chest and body. Good shape to his rear end, moved out fairly well. Good length of tail and being carried well here.

2 – Henningsson-Dundas - Julemark Gudrun – Fairly raw bitch with a feminine features. Dark eye and pleasing expression. Nice neck and lay of shoulder. Good spring of rib and length, nice tail set and carriage. Her good rear angulation provided good movement as she drove out.

Open

1 – Murdens - Rowsprings Jackson & BOB – A smart tri dog who of good quality. Good head and in proportion, with correct ear shape and set. Nice dark appealing eyes. Strong neck of good length, and lay of shoulder providing reach. Good shape to his feet also. Correct body shape and rib length with added strength. Good rear construction meant ground was covered well.

2 – Coates’ Gladstyle Noah Fence – Different in type to first but a pleasing overall shape. Finer in head although not incorrect, and good ear shape. Adequate front construction and ribbing. Good strength throughout and moved well.

Norwegian Elkhound

Puppy

1 – Mauns’ Bowerhinton Bright Lady – Young lady so with a super head, and in proportion, with good shape ears complimenting her well. Strong neck leading to good shoulders allowing her a good reach on the move. Suitably curved ribs and complimenting her compact body. Level topline and correct tail set. Good rear angulation helping propel her around the ring.

1 - Mauns’ Bowerhinton Bright Lady – See above

Post Graduate

1 - Mauns’ Bowerhinton Bee Portia – A smart girl of good substance. Good feminine head and pleasant ear set and shape. Strong neck and good lay of shoulder. Well ribbed and compact body. Strong rear and well muscled assisting in her balanced movement.

Open

1 - Mauns’ Bowerhinton Bassanio & BOB – I was really taken back by this dog today. In proportion throughout, with a super head, friendly expression and perfect ear set. His dark features completing his look nicely. Compact and square in body, level topline with excellent tail set. He showed power where needed, offering effortless movement and good width throughout both coming and going. Should go on have a good show career.

2 – Browns - Laakso Cara – Different in type to first being finer, although still a smart girl. Feminine head, dark correctly shaped eyes and ears we well set and of good size. Well muscled throughout. Strong neck leading to appropriate shoulder set. Good ribbing complimenting the body shape with a level topline. Nicely set rear angulation and giving her good movement.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

I was particularly pleased by an excellent entry with quality throughout the various types on show today, causing me to make some difficult decisions. Every dog showed excellent temperaments and ridges.

Puppy

1 – Hewsons’ Walamadengie Son of a Gun - A strong dog full of substance and at the end of his time in puppy, in a rich dark red wheaten. Still to settle on some elements, but strength was ever present. Once settled he moved well in an active manner. Masculine head, with nicely shaped ears. Strong neck of good length, good lay of shoulder and straight front. Good depth of chest and of length. Strong loin leading to a well made rear. Pleased to see him win the Hound puppy group today.

2 – Picton & Ince’ Priorpark Point and Click – A dog of different type and well put together, ticking a lot of boxes. Didn’t carry as much substance as first, but was balanced on the moved and of good muscle. Expressive eyes completed a well shaped head. Good lay of shoulder with a straight front. Suitable chest and good topline leading to strong loin and well put together rear. Covered the ground well.

3 – Parsons’ Priorpark Perfect Timing

Junior

1 – Cox’ Carlinox From Rusia Wiv Luv – Smart young bitch showing plenty of potential. Head of good shape with nice ear set and expressive eyes. Strong neck of good length. Well laid shoulders, with sprung ribs of good depth. Strong loin leading to well shaped and muscled rear quarters. Covered the ground with ease on the move.

2 – Humphrey’ Priorpark Peaky Blinder – Another bitch of good quality, different in type to first. Smart feminine head. Nice length of neck leading to well laid shoulders. Sprung ribs and in proportion. Strong loin leading to nicely constructed rear. Strode out well on the move.

Open

1 – Cox’s Carlinox Pure Gold & BOB – A dog who said look at me from the moment she came into the ring, with her balanced movement, freely covering the ground and standing proud. Upon closer inspection she oozed quality throughout. Balanced angulation both front and rear. A feminine and expressive head, with nicely shaped ears. Body in proportion with a deep, nicely sprung rib and loin of good length and muscle. I am sure she will go on to do well.

2 – Parsons’ Priorpark Pot Kettle Black – Another smart dog of good quality. In proportion and shown to perfection. Smart head and neck of good length and strength. Good lay of shoulder and straight front. Chest of good depth and a well sprung rib. Strong loin leading to a well angulated, well muscled rear. Covered the ground impeccable ease with her balanced movement. Another one who should do well in the future.

Whippet

Puppy

1 – Lipscombes’ Selinko Honeysuckle & BP – I could not ignore this neat bitch of good shape and super in profile. Very pretty and feminine head. In proportion throughout. Nice neck length, strong and leading to a nice lay of shoulder. Chest of good depth for age and length. Nicely arched loin leading to a moderately angulated rear. Good reach and drive, be interesting to see how she progresses.

2 – Grisolis’ Loroli Lady Lakeside – Another puppy of good quality, just preferred overall shape of 1st today. Very pretty with good head and excellent ears. Neck of good length and nicely laid shoulder. Chest deep with good ribbing. Strong loin with a well put together rear. Moved well, with reach and drive.

Junior

1 – Newtons’ Nevedith De Silva – Upstanding dog of good size and masculine throughout. Good head shape and ears. Good neck and shoulder placement. Super chest of good depth and providing a nice underline. Nicely made rear complimenting him. Easy and balanced movement

Post Graduate

1 – Wilton-Clarks’ Shalfleet Toy Story & BOB – Smart boy, I liked his overall shape and flow. Good head with smart features including an expressive eye. A dog with pleasing front, lay of shoulder and depth of chest. Pleased to see width throughout also. Balanced free movement in profile and sound both coming and going.

2 – Hills’ Shimmeree Cool Calico – Finer in type to first. Very pretty head and expressive bright eyes. In proportion throughout, with appropriate reach and drive. Good width thoughout

Open

1 – Wilton-Clarks’ Shalfleet Heatwave – A smart gentleman who carried himself well. Pleasing outline and proportion, with excellent tone. Good head and ears, leading to a lovely strong neck. Well laid front and lovely deep chest. Nice underline and topline flowing to a well made rear. Covered the ground well with nice free easy action. Pushed hard for BOB.

2 – Grisolis’ Loroli Romancing The Stone – Pushed 1st hard here and just preferred him overall. A pretty girl with quality throughout. Moved well and was full of balance. Pretty, fine head with good ears. Super neck and strength. Good shoulder and chest, offering a flow to both underline and topline. Nicely put together rear finishing the outlook.
