Southern Counties Canine Association

Breed: Collie (Rough)

Thoroughly enjoyed my first appointment in this attractive breed, felt the dogs were stronger in quality than the bitches, and a number were hotly considered for the top honours. Hope no one thinks I favour the merles, but in the boys they certainly seemed to be of very similar type. Temperaments were good, and whilst there were a few youngsters in awe of the situation, hardly surprising given the lack of opportunities to practice, I was sympathetic. I was somewhat bemused that some dogs appeared well groomed on the outside, but really would have benefited from a deeper groom. The wind gave for challenges with some ears, but again I was forgiving.

PD (5, 1)

1. ALFSDEN HE LIVES IN YOU (MILLIGAN & MARLEY) – lovely balanced pup, very well schooled for one so young. Attractive b/m. Very good angles and neck. Attractive head, with correct parallel planes, and expression enhanced by super eye in colour and set, and neat well positioned ears. Sound on the move and steady, just a little proud of tail which can be forgiven for one so young on his first outing, will watch his progress with interest.

2. ALFSDEN ENDLESS NIGHT (MILLIGAN & MARLEY) – tri colour litter brother to winner, not quite as mature, but as one would expect shares same type and is well balanced in profile, good bone. Attractive head, and again good expression. In good coat. Moved well and with confidence.

3. JARDS RING PRESENCE (HANSON)

JD (3,2)

1. WELANGA WINTER CAROLS VIA CAPRIOARA (CORBEN & MOORE), attractive b/m – stands four square and is balanced in profile, not in full coat as expect at this age, but means you can see he is well made, liked his neck and bend of stifle. Head developing well, masculine through, with strength to muzzle and jaw, correct stop and well set eye. Moved well in profile and going away just needs to tighten in front, Best Junior.

PGD (6, 0)

1. CAMANNA CHASINGCLOUDS OVER MEJOLA (WHITE), only just out of junior, another b/m, liked his outline, very good angles and neck, stands proud, with correct rise over loin, good depth to chest and well ribbed. Stands four square on oval feet. Attractive head, good flat skull, balanced to muzzle and well placed ears, dark brown almond eye, alert expression. Moved well.

2. LADNAR MUSTRIHARDER (RANDALL), impressive tri colour, in good coat, beautifully presented. Well schooled and steady on the move but not quite the length of stride or economical as the winner. Masculine in head, with good planes and correct eye, just preferred balance of skull and expression of winner.

3. WILMARANNA OUT OF THE BLUE FOR CATHBRI (PROCTOR)

LD (7, 1)

1. HANVALE ARTHUR SHELBY WITH DAMOS (FULLER), sable, in excellent coat and presented well. Correct length to back, with rise over loin and good breadth over withers. Deep chest, well boned legs, good bend of stifle. Attractive head from balanced skull & muzzle, latter being strong and not coarse. Oblique set dark eyes, flat skull and correct ear set. Sound mover from all directions, RCC.

2. BROOKLYNSON EL DORADO (BENTON & SMITH), larger framed sable dog, but still balanced, excellent coat quality and well presented. Stands freely on well boned legs and correct oval feet, good pasterns. Masculine throughout, with good muzzle, flat skull, correct eye. Moved freely covering ground well.

3. PHREELANCER CHILL PHACTOR FOR ELSHAJO (BLUCK)

OD (7, 0)

1. MEJOLA FATE AND FORTUNE SHCEX (WHITE), really caught my eye in this class, and I was not disappointed when put under closer scrutiny. B/m of correct size and proportions. Free standing to show off his correct construction and balance. Well fitting coat, not over done, but harsh weather proofed outer. Well presented and schooled. Good angles front and rear with arched neck. Super expression, dark eye, neat ears and flat skull, balanced to muzzle creating correct wedge. Good length of tail. Effortless sound mover, who glided around the ring, DCC & BOB, I understand that this was his 3rd.

2. INGLEDENE WELL SOOTED (GEDDES), tri well presented, good length to back and rear angles, but preferred neck length of winner. Good round bone to oval feet. Attractive head, with well balanced skull & muzzle, super eyes giving lovely expression. Moved soundly from all directions, just lacking some sparkle today.

3. SAMHAVEN TRI CITIES (GRAINGER)

VD/B (6, 0)

1. ANIESH FOREVER BLUE WITH WHATACOO (COOK & WATKINS), b/m bitch of 7 years, good length of back and rise over loin. Correct bone to oval feet, would prefer firmer pasterns. Good anglulation and length to neck. Attractive head, sweet feminine expression, neat ears, and eyes of good size and colour. Moved soundly.

2. TREMARO TAINTED LOVE AT RAHLISSA (DALEY), 9 year old sable bitch in very good condition. Balanced in outline, more moderate in angles than winner. Feminine in head, flat skull, expressive eyes. Moved ok but not as positive as winner.

3. PELIDO DAVID WEIR (WRIGHT)

GCDS D/B (5, 1)

1. TREMARO TAINTED LOVE AT RAHLISSA

2. SAMBREEZE WHISPERS OF LOVE (HALL), well coated and presented, feminine. Good length of back. Skull & muzzle balanced, good dark eye and neat ears. Moved ok, would just prefer stronger pasterns.

3. WILMARANNA OUT OF THE BLUE FOR CATHBRI (PROCTOR)

SpBeg B (2, 0)

1. ANIESH FOREVER BLUE WITH WHATACOO

2. SANTALOLY'S SKY AMIDALAS (LYALL), pretty bitch, good length to back and firm topline. Little unsettled in the class, so not giving her best. Ears inclining to prick and not helped by the breeze. Good eye for shape, colour and set. Would like more angulation in front but is ok behind. Good presentation.

PB (4, 0)

1. INGLEDENE SNO ANGEL (GEDDES)b/m, lovely outline and in excellent coat, beautifully presented. Good round bone to oval feet. Broad rump, and well-developed chest. Lovely head and expression, ears well placed, dark eye set obliquely to give the correct sweet expression, and skull and muzzle parallel. Moved well and with drive, very settled and showed herself off like a dog of more mature years, BP & RBCC.

2. RAHLISSA TOFFEE CAKE FOR DENORA (LARKIN), another attractive pup, sable of good proportions, and correct angulation. Attractive head and expression, balanced head with correct eye and ear, wedge shape. Moved well from all angles.

3. INGLEDENE MIDNITE SKYE WITH FIVEJAYS (RADFORD-HOUSE)

JB (4, 2)

1. WASSAIL CALL THE MIDWIFE (WARE), sable of good height to length ratio, excels in head with super eyes, and good balance of skull to muzzle and neat ears, very alert and bright expression. Well boned to oval feet. Balanced angulation. Moved soundly.

2. AMBARTR WINDS OF CHANGE (BARTRAM), tricolour who was a little unsettled which mean she did not show herself off very well. Good eye for shape and colour. Angulation correct when viewed in profile. Erratic on the move.

PGB (9, 1)

1. RIVERSIDE SONG XTRA SWEET AT RAHLISSA (IMP ROM) (TAME), sable in good coat and correct proportions in profile. Stands on oval feet. Angulation behind ok but hocks could be more parallel. Pretty eye but would prefer smoother sides to skull to give more wedge shape. Neat ears. Moved ok but could have more drive behind.

2. AMALIE JUST ANNIE AT TERELIMON (WELLS), well coated sable, back to height ration correct. Oval feet, prefer little more angulation. Feminine head with dark medium almond eye. Not giving of her best on the move.

3. KIND OF MAGIC DELLA BUCA DELLE FATE AT WASSAIL (IMP IT) (WARE)

LB (7, 1)

1. HANVALE POLLY SHELBY JW (WALDER), litter sister to RDCC, heading class of mixed type/quality, one that looks to have plenty of promise when viewed in profile, good length and angles with correct length to neck. Attractive in head, skull and muzzle balanced and has correct parallel planes and well placed eye/ears. Sadly, she was carrying a lot of weight which affected her movement and cost her higher honours.

2. KINNERET KOPPER KISSES FOR CORYDON (BLAKE), More compact type, good angles, but would prefer more neck. Attractive head with good eye and ear but would prefer head planes to be more parallel and a stronger underjaw. Better body condition than winner and covered ground more freely.

3. SAMBREEZE WHISPERS OF LOVE

OB (8, 1)

1. HUN/INT CH TIGANLEA MAKE GOOD TIME (BARDOS), sable in excellent coat, and well presented. Lovely bone without being coarse, standing on correct oval feet. Good angulation front and rear, developed in chest and with broad rump, presents a good outline, attentive to handler. Attractive head, parallel planes for skull and muzzle, good size almond eye give that sweet expression. Moves soundly from all directions, BCC.

2. GILLYFLOWER DELLA BUCA DELLE FATE (IMP ITA) (SHIPP), balanced outline, well boned, tail has correct sweep. Moderate angulation, would like little more length to neck. Very attractive head, good planes for skull and muzzle with correct placement of eye and ears produces lovely expression. Moved soundly but not length of stride of winner.

3. CH INGLEDENE SPIRIT OF ECSTASY (GEDDES)
