Special Award Classes

Thoroughly enjoyed my judging and was a delight to have such well supported classes, its not every judge who gets to judge 9 breed champions in one class! Generally, I would say owners need to watch their handling as many dogs crabbed/side winded on the move. Simply because they were looking for eye contact with owners, and this does mean they end up crossing either in front or behind or both. Many would benefit from moving ahead of owners on loose lead, so straighten on the move.

SAC OD (3,0) 1. Smith’s Ch Arnscroft Never Say Di mature well boned dog, larger overall frame but is balanced and square. Good balanced angles front & rear and medium neck. Attractive wedge head, flat skull to high set active ears. Dark eye, alert expression. Stands well on oval feet. Would prefer tighter curl to tail. Moves soundly and is light on feet being true in all directions.

2. Irvine & Gillies’ Tapui Let’s Blaze, 9 month old – and very promising, has all the right breed attributes, compact, and square in outline, firm straight topline. Excellent tail set and tight curl. Would prefer little more bend of stifle. Head is excellent, and is well developed for pup, broad flat skull, lovely dark pigment and eye. Used ears well. Good definition of muzzle which tapers correctly. Light on feet when viewed in profile, but needs to tighten in front to complete overall picture. One to watch.

3. Corin & Camm’s Kligenthal Almuric, though 2 years old, found him less mature than the others, he is compact and square in outline with short loin but needs to develop in chest. Angles are moderate as required, and tail is well set and with good tight curl. Not as broad or masculine in skull as 1&2. Moves well in profile but found him close moving away.

SAC OB (6,1) 1. Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Elouise, really lovely black, good for size and bone, excellent topline. Square in outline, short loin, well muscled. Stands on tight oval feet. Lovely wedge shape head, with good width to flat skull, ears placed high, and eye of dark brown. Slight stop to tapering muzzle, of medium length so completes wedge shape and is not snipey. Probably best mover of the day, fluid and light on feet in profile and true in front and behind.

2. Shorer-Wheeler’s Sturtmoor’s Ffascination with Koromandel, just 2 years old, and very tipey. Excellent angles and reach of neck, firm topline, well set tight tail, well balanced in outline. Attractive feminine head, wedge shape with good eye, just prefer ear position and strength of muzzle of winner. Good double coat. Light on feet on move, good profile, just shade open when viewed from behind.

3. Lambert’s Sturmoor’s Eezee Luvva, mature bitch in excellent coat, carrying a little extra weight which affected topline. Compact, with good chest. Attractive feminine head of good proportions, clean wedge from top and sides, flat skull and alert expression, lovely eye colour and pigment. Would prefer little more bend of stifle. Well muscled. Moved with easy stride just a shade open behind.

SAC Champion (9,0) 1. Cobb & Kent’s Ch Koromandel Best Served Cold at Knytshall, heading a fabulous class, where was spoiled for choice, found this boy to be of good size, masculine, in excellent double weather proof coat. Well boned to tight oval feet. Compact with firm back to tightly curled high set tail. Good angles front and rear, and muscular neck. Alert to handler. Lovely head, clean line, flat skull and well placed ears, enough definition to stop. Super pigment. He moves well with purpose and is sound from all directions.

2. Stonton’s Ch Arnscroft in Di Ana Jack, square in outline with mature deep chest, slight tuck up and short loin. Topline slopes away a little. In good coat and well boned. Has moderate angles front and rear and strong neck. Attractive wedge head, well proportioned muzzle, flat skull and well set ears, dark eye with ex pigmented rims. Alert and attentive to handler. Moved well.

3. Deuchar’s Ch Rikarlo Gable JW, one I have done well for before, today was not in best of jackets, which just meant he didn’t have the extra finish of his sire in 1st and the second placed dog. He is very typical, compact square outline, with firm short loin, and excellent tailset, with correct curl. Love his rich colouring. He is well angulated and has strong neck, stands on tight feet. Attractive wedge head, lovely breadth to skull, but not using his ears as I know he can. Moved well from all directions.

I feel I should mention the 4th placed bitch, Ch Trelowen Veryan to Kynshall, who at 12 plus years of age was credit to owner/breeder, still amazing in condition and excellent mover.
