Hadrian Basset Hound Club Championship Show

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation, and the exhibitors for a quality entry, some decisions were tight on the day, but I was happy with my principal winners and would be happy to take any of them home. I’m pleased to say mouths have improved since I last judged. Sadly, I penalized one or two quite nice hounds for carrying too much weight which can easily be rectified.

1 Minor Puppy Dog 1

1 Cudlip Harvidene Take A Chance On Me. Tri colour of 6½ months. A super little chap enjoying his day out. Good head qualities nice stop, depth of lip and leathers. Lovely dark eye of correct shape. Nice length of neck with good shoulder placement, well ribbed with level topline with lovely angulation for and aft. Moved out well covering the ground easily, still a little loose but wouldn’t expect more at this age. One I will watch with enthusiasm BPD & BPIS

3 Junior Dog 1

1 McEvedy Diheath Johnny Cash Substantial youngster of 15months. Well made. Good head, dark eye, leathers of good length. Nice arch to neck and well angulated front with tight elbows. Ribs reaching well back with level topline Strong quarters with hocks well let down with good feet. Moved well out and back just a little wide in front.

4 Novice Dog 1

1 McEvedy Diheath Jerry Lee Lewis. Litter brother to previous with many of the same attributes, head qualities, good eye and expression. Well arched neck, well angulated fore and aft. Level topline with good ribs. Standing four square on tightly bunched feet. Moved out covering the ground with ease.

5 Debutant Dog 1

1 Jeffrey Bushoby Alexander Black Blanket who’s well made. Masculine head with good expression and dark eye. Pronounced occiput, leathers of good length soft and curling. Good angles back front and back with tight elbows and good ribbing. Level topline, moves out and covers the ground well sadly not carrying enough weight due to recently having a stomach bug, his handler needs just a little more confidence.

1 King Zawadi Stand by Me. R/W, Good head qualities eye colour, depth of lip Leathers low set and curling. Ample length of neck. Ribbing carried well back with level topline. Feet well-padded and tight, Moved confidently out and back.

8 Limit Dog 6

1 Cudlip Woferlow Voyager at Harvidene. Masculine head well chiselled with pronounced occiput. Lovely dark eye of good shape. Leathers long and curling. Neck long, well arched, good front construction with well-developed keel, ribs long and carried well back with strong level topline, rear well-muscled and used to advantage. Tightly bunched feet standing four square. Movement clean and effortless. RDCC

2 Archer Roamanbay Reddy To Rumble. Red Blanket. Unlucky to meet 1 today. Well balanced throughout, good head planes with darkest of eyes of good shape. Prominent occiput and good length to leathers. Neck well arched, nice front with tight elbows and excellent keel. Correct ribbing carried well back topline strong. Rear quarters used to advantage moving out and covering the ground.

3 Wood Marada the Cheviot. Masculine blanketed tri good head qualities with good eye shape and colour, strong arched neck. Shoulders clean with tight elbows. Topline strong and held on the move, tight well bunched feet, covers the ground with ease both out and back.

9 Open Dog 6 (2ab)

1 Allchorne Nelgus Thyme Bomb JW SHCEX. Black blanket. Well-constructed throughout, ouses masculinity. Quality head with prominent occiput, good depth to lips, eye dark with correct shape and kind expression leathers low-set velvety and curling/ Strong arched neck good front construction and tight elbows. Good ribs carried well back with strong level topline, rear well angulated with well let down hocks. Full of substance stands four square on massive feet. His movement is effortless, parallel going out and back, both driving from behind with good forward reach at one with his handler and so pleased to award him DCC & RBIS.

2 Murray & Melboune Diheath Wreckless Eric. Another impressive hound with everything in the right place has lovely head planes with dark eye, leathers of good length. Body is well balanced and deep throughout with good clearance. Quarters strong and used to advantage with tightly bunched feet.

3 Cudlip Harvidene Debinere. Different type to 1 and 2 but lots to like has good overall length and depth. Lovely head qualities, topline strong quarters well developed and covers the ground easily both out and back. Hocks well let down with tight feet.

12 Minor Puppy Bitch 2 (1ab)

1 Cudlip Harvidene Mamma Mia Tri colour of 6½ months and litter sister to BPD. Another super little pup who certainly enjoyed her day out. Feminine throughout with the same attributes as her brother. Movement free and flowing covering the ground effortlessly. In the challenge missed out to her brother as her movement was hard to assess as she thought they were in a race she obviously wanted to win!! BPB Another I will watch with interest

13 Puppy Bitch 3 (2ab)

1 McCord Kelansue Foos Yer Doos. Tri. Pretty with super feminine head with dark eyes and pleasing expression, good reach of neck, developed keel, well placed shoulders, tight elbows ribs carried well back with level topline. Quarters front and back had good angulation with lovely tight feet. Moves out and developing nicely.

14 Junior Bitch 3 (1ab)

1 Danel Switherland Custard Cream for Bazbourne. R/W Pretty youngster with pleasing feminine head qualities lovely dark eye with kind expression. Leathers curling and of good length. Neck reachy with good front angulation, good length to ribbing with well-muscled hindquarters. Moves out well, parallel fore and aft.

2 Murray, Melbourne & Fitzpatrick-Odahamier Diheath Elvis Smaller framed than 1 R/W good head qualities and eye colour and shape. Sternum well developed; shoulders well laid. Lovely ribbing carried well back, strong topline, well-muscled quarters standing on well knuckled feet.

15 Novice Bitch 2 (1ab)

1 McCord Kelansue Toffee Apple. Well made with many pleasing qualities, feminine head correct eye shape with dark eye leathers of good length with inward curl. Strong neck shoulder with elbows tucked in. Good front and rear angulation, ribs long with level topline. Hocks well let down and moved out well, sadly penalised for carrying a little too much weight on the day.

17 Graduate Bitch 8 (2ab)

1 Allchorne Nelgus Spring Thyme. R/W who still thinks she’s a minor puppy, loved her character! Super feminine head and expression, darkest of eyes with good shape. Well pronounced sternum, elbows tucked in, good angulation fore and aft ribs carried well back with level topline. Covers the ground with ease another from this kennel who gives all to her handler.

2 Robinson Bushoby A New Daybreak. Smaller frame, pleasing head with good eye and colour but not the expression of 1. Arched neck with neat front level topline with clean hind action. Moved well.

3 McIntosh Kelansue Mischief Maker Pleasing head and expression and length to leathers, good length to ribs and level topline, which she kept on the move. Sadly, carrying a little too much weigh for me today.

18 Post Graduate Bitch 2

1 Armstrong Lauralee One Vision. Blanketed Tri, well made and balanced throughout. Super feminine head, dark and soft expression. Arched neck, prominent keel with well laid shoulders, ribs carried well back, good topline Angulation correct fore and aft. Moves soundly out and back standing four square on well knuckled feet.

2 Kelansue Mischief Maker.

9 Limit Bitch 4

1 Hard Mellow Molly an Grunsven at Braemoray (Imp NLD). R/W. Well-made, feminine head, dark eyes of good shape, low set leathers, neck well arched shoulders well laid with prominent sternum, elbows tucked in. Good ribbing with strong level topline. Hindquarters well-muscled and used to advantage, tight feet knuckled up standing four square. Movement parallel and sound both out and back covers the ground with ease. RBCC

2 Allchorne Nelgus Cinnamon Spice. Tri. Good bone and substance throughout. Lovely feminine head eyes of good colour and shape. Well arched neck, correct front ribs long with level topline well-muscled rear. Feet tightly bunched Another from this kennel who moves out with energy covers the ground effortlessly.

3 Archer Armardio Chicago Fire in Roamanbay. Smaller mould than 1 &2 but doesn’t lessen her quality. Nice feminine head, eye dark with kind expression, leathers of good length. Arched neck, good shoulders, ample sternum and depth of chest. Ribs carried well back with well-muscled hindquarters. Strong topline. Nice tight feet and good bone throughout.

20 Open Bitch 8 (4ab)

1 Armstrong Ch Lauralee A Kind of Magic. Impressive r/w, feminine and so balanced with excellent bone and full of quality throughout and hard to fault. Lovely head and carriage, correct planes with prominent occiput and good depth of lip. Eyes of good shape and dark with a melting expression, leathers set on low both velvety and curling. Reachy well arched neck and super shoulder placement with tight elbows. Well-developed sternum with deep chest and good front construction. Long ribs giving good length to back, nice bent to stifle with well let down hocks. Correct angles fore and aft. Well-muscled rear used to advantage on the move. Standing square on well-knuckled feet her movement is parallel, free flowing and sound, true fore and aft showing good reaching and drive. BCC & BIS

2 Pearson Armardio I’m On Fire JW. One I have watched from ringside did not disappoint. R/W slightly larger frame than 1 but balanced with good bone throughout. Feminine head with lovely eye colour and shape, good planes and occiput, leathers well set and curling. Strong neck with clean shoulders elbows tucked in, Ribbing long and topline level. Well angulated front and rear, parallel movement, sound away and back covering the ground easily.

3 Mitchell Rakefoot Midnight Caller. Tri colour and one I have judged before, hard to believe she’s a veteran now. Different type to 1 & 2 and enjoying her day out. Lovely head and eye, well arched neck with good shoulders and tight elbows, well angulated front and back, good ribbing, moved out well.

21 Veteran Bitch 3 (1ab)

1 Allchorne Ch Diheath Guns N Roses JW This girl certainly belies her age, an incredible 10 years! I’m sure everything that could be said about her has been, her movement is still effortless and gives her all to her handler. I was just please to have been given the opportunity to go over her. BVB & BVIS

2 Pearson Ch Roamanbay Russia with Love to Armardio JW. 7-year-old R/W I judged her as a puppy and again hard to believe she’s now a veteran and well worthy of her title and I’m sure I can’t add anything that’s not been said before. Feminine, balanced with good bone throughout and sound.

3 Mitchell Rakefoot Fleur’s Delight. 13-year-old r/w and what a dear old lady. Pleasing head and eye good body shape holds topline both moving and on the stack. Nice feet. She certainly enjoyed her outing.
