I would like to thank the committee of the Southern Bullmastiff Society and in particular Grant Slater and Sonja Oliver Hicks for their invitation and welcome to judge their club Championship show at Newbury showground.

VD 2(2)

MPD 2(0)

1. Freshney’s Hyerdunscar Renaissance for Bullenca. 8 month old male, good square skull, correct eye and good ear set, correct muzzle length, as much back length as I would like but sound and parallel on the move, BPD.

2. Brown’s Zanshin Jimmy Choo. Very much a baby at 6 months, clearly the head has a good deal to mature however good bone, correct overall proportions and good feet.

PD 2(1)

1. Popp/Myers/Morgan’s Optimus Thomas Morse of Penychen TAF. 11 month old male, masculine head, a little bit ‘jowely’ on the day. Good dark eye, high set ears, good bone, plenty of back length, balanced if modest angulation.

JD 4(1)

1. McLellan’s Copperfield Captain Tom. Good overall proportions, correct bone, nice feet, head with a deal of maturing to come, nice angulation, good ground covering gait.

2. Ras’ Mons Claudius Chili Pepper. Heavier in type than 1 however good bone, good overall balance however tended to ‘toe out’ in front coming and going. Covered the ground well in profile.

3. Johns’ Coulbymoor Major Tom.

YD 2(0)

1. Porter/Bowser’s Araucaria Sambucus Nigeria (AI). Well proportioned 2 year old male, rather too much wrinkle over the muzzle but good dark eye, correct bone and parallel on the move.

2. Reader/Bown’s Sundabish Roman. Lighter boned than one however balanced angulation but the front was a little bit untidy on the out and back. Good square skull.

PGD 3(1)

1. Amor’s Keepersguard Ragnar’s Wrath. Well proportioned, correct head, nice ear set, medium minus bone, good ground covering gait.

2. Reader/Bown’s Constantine Luiz at Sundabish. 18 months old, good bone, powerful neck and good shoulders, needs a good deal of practise however a good prospect.

LD 5(1)

1. Myers/Morgan’s Optimus Danzy Jones JW (AI). Just preferred the overall profile of 1, good balance, correct bone, nice feet and pasterns, powerful on the move, RDCC.

2. Gendler’s Yakee Tigers Eye. Another nice example of the breed but with medium minus bone, a little too much wrinkle over the muzzle for my liking however well angulated, good top-line running away over the croup.

3. Cox’s Colom Orlaf.

OD 3(1)

1. Davies’ Ch. Hyerdunscar On A Mission with Coulbymoor JW. 6 year old male, good head and expression, nice overall proportions, good bone, strong top-line, powerful shoulders, preferred the shoulder of 1 over 2, easy ground covering gait, DCC & BIS.

2. Warren’s Angel’s Phoenix Dylan Dog of Copperfield. 3 year old, rather too cumbersome in type, however good bone, nice proportions, carrying plenty of weight on the day.

VB 2(2)

MPB 7(0)

1. Lindley’s Hyerdunscar Pardon My French. Nice feminine head and expression. As much back length as I would like but excellent balance and angulation, good shoulder, correct neck, nice bone throughout, easy ground covering gait, very good prospect, RBCC & BPB & BPIS.

2. Warren’s Allwatcha Thyme of Copperfield. Good overall proportions, nice bone, good feet, correct feminine head which will further mature, moved to advantage.

3. Charlton’s Bullmisias Glory.

PB 2(1)

1. Colliass’ Endlessacres Sybil at Oldwell. Very nice bitch, quite ‘aware’ of her surroundings on the day, lovely head and expression, good bone, powerful shoulders, excellent overall angulation, another good prospect.

JB 2(0)

1. Copperfield Miss Havisham. Lively exhibit on the day, I would prefer a little more leg length in overall profile, however she moved soundly, good feminine head and expression.

2. McArdle’s Rosco’s Girl At The Bar in Monascreebe. Correct head, good overall proportions but lacked rear angulation and was a little unsound when moving away.

YB 1(0)

1. Myers/Morgan’s Paris De L’Arche Des Loups Anges avec Optimus (imp FRA). Very nice bitch, super head, correct overall proportions, keen dark eye, well angulated and covered the ground with ease, particularly impressive in profile, BCC & RBIS.

PGB 6(0)

A difficult class to judge since all exhibits had their merits but also their demerits.

1. Hillery’s Okuma Tennessee Walker. Preferred the head of 1 and the overall proportions, balanced with sufficient ground covering gait.

2. Johns’ Asborn Daisy Duke. Good angulation but I would have preferred a stronger top-line and better balance in the stand.

3. Beal’s Emsuart Aphrodite.

LB 3(1)

1. Reader/Bown’s Sundabish Belle of The Ball. Just took the class on her freedom of movement, good feminine head, balanced throughout, good reach of neck.

2. Trim’s Pleats Osha The Wildling at Roycepride. Nice 4 year old bitch with good head, excellent balance but not quite as tidy behind as 1.

OB 9(2)

1. Lindley’s Ch. Hyerdunscar The Big Tease JW IJCH CJW 16 BW 18. Preferred the overall balance of 1 when standing although she was a little untidy going away, nice feminine head and expression.

2. Warren’s Yakee Blue Topaz of Copperfield. Nice bitch, good head, good reach of neck, she was well angulated but was unable to stand and show herself off to her advantage, however a good prospect.

3. Thomas/Bull’s Optimus Euphoria.
