Bournemouth Canine Association 14th August 2021 – Kooikerhondje – Judge Richard Morris (Lascoed)

A pleasing entry with standards appearing to improve each time I judge. Lovely to see a breed where exhibitors support each other so consistently and a steady flow of fresh imports. My thanks to my stewards. I apologise for the lateness of this report, it was first sent to the dog press on 28th August.

1. Davies - Millhanger Kemboy

Two years four months squarely built outline a striking young dog full of breed type and quality head well proportioned and rounded with chiselling and dark expressive eye colour. Ears well set black lengthy pendants on show shoulders set well up at the withers with level back to follow good depth of brisket and short coupled. Presented in very fit muscled condition coat close and dense correct for colour with attractive head blaze. Very well angulated throughout carried head high on the move though tail somewhat raised but well feathered. A happy springing gait the best mover for soundness in the entry in my opinion, BD & BOB, congratulations.

2. Gutteridge & Gutteridge – Benitin Trojan

Two years five months nicely proportioned outline with very attractive ringlets on display with black tail ring and full feathering to tail slight tinges of black in coat. Excellent bone topline and hindquarters would like a bit more length of muzzle resulting in stop being rather distinct I considered. In good body condition and muscle but not quite the overall finish of the winner on the day.

1. Suiter - Genetika Rumpelstiltskin

Four years very well angulated throughout front especially straight and true legs well under body lovely breed type but slightly longer cast. Well sprung ribcage and length of ribbing coat of good length close lying and correct texture attractive ringlets on show and clear blaze. Good bone and notably small tight feet. I judged tending slightly close behind on the day but better in free flowing profile movement with head and tail carried correctly well flagged, RBD.

2. Guy - Gladsheim Eleodoro

Four years better coupled and squarer in build than the winner a very sound true jaunty mover with superior hind action. Somewhat short in muzzle for head balance I considered excellent level topline and rather full in body condition deep in chest so ribcage appearing somewhat over-sprung all might be helped with a slight weight reduction I respectfully suggest. Lovely coat lying close well textured and coloured tail well flagged excellent bone overall notably strong hindquarter muscling with deep second thighs.

1. Suiter - Chriskooi's Octavius At Genetika TAF

Five years nine months sturdy and strong frame would like slightly more lay of shoulder preferred his lovely attractive well balanced head and expression especially dark brown eye colour well set and shaped eye rims strong pigmentation pleasing mature black ringlets ears well placed. Very well boned with the best of close feet ribcage reaching well back short coupled and muscled across the loins. Muscled powerful hindquarters black tail ring well feathered but carried rather far over in my opinion, pleasing for breed type and quality a deserving RBD, congratulations.

2. Williams - Cairnbraid Onwaba Lukimbi Of Gladsheim

Five years excellent squarer outline than winner well angulated throughout notably well set stifles presented in first class body condition strong across the loins good bone and tight feet. Correct stop and blaze on show lengthy mature black ringlets tail well feathered and flagged. Not quite as jaunty and animated as the winner on the day and slouching in front with the winner appearing better in profile movement today.

1. Davies - Millhanger Kemboy

Best Special Beginners.

2. Norman - Kerfkooiker Pandora

Nine months pleasing for breed type and quality with attractive coat on show for a puppy developing black ringlets carrying good body condition for her age. Attractive eye colouring and nicely set eye rims well shaped level back muscled strong hindquarters. Moved acceptably needs to tighten all round and appeared better in profile action shows promise.

1. Jones - Valleyrise Inspiration

Three years on the larger size but well balanced with attractive full feathering and close fitting coat lovely lengthy black ringlets and especially pleasing head all in balance with kind expressive dark brown eyes beautifully set and shaped eye rims black pigmented with straight true front good length of ribcage level topline and sound mover. Fit muscled condition with nicely covered body well fleshed and mature. Very typical breed example outline head and tail carried correctly with style and free flowing profile movement, BB, congratulations.

2. Johnson - Valleyrise Illustration

Litter sister to the above similar remarks apply in terms of type though ears set rather high and finer head finish than the winner well sprung ribcage good depth of body head well marked with blaze and pleasing breed coat colouring beautifully presented and feathered. More compact than her sister but slightly close on the move at the rear on the day.

3. Suiter & Cargill - Genetika Wake Up Aurora

Four years sister to winner of LD a finer bitch and not the strength of bone of those above attractive black ringlets pleasing dark eye colour and shape well sprung ribcage with good length of ribbing firm across the loins and short coupled correct turn of stifles. Coat appeared pale orange in places on the day.

1. Suiter - Cirtap's Hertogin Freya Van Qira-t At Genetika TAF

Nine years four months a grand lady looking wonderful for her age most typical outline well balanced attractive head blaze black pigmentation pleasing eye colour and shape still bright and alert. Lengthy black well formed ringlets good bone and correct close feet well sprung ribcage and depth of body really muscled across the loins for her age. Coat flying a bit but forgiven for a veteran a sound true mover with typical head and tail carriage, RBB congratulations.

2. Williams - Daniella Vom Thyrowberg To Gladsheim (Imp Ger) Sh.CM.

Nine years three months compact and well built carrying a better coat than the winner but not possessing her finish of bone and feet more open with age. Attractive eye colour and set clearly marked blaze ears well set and carried with mature black ringlets. Level topline, correct turn of stifles short coupled and a sound mover with tail well set flagged and carried.

3. Johnson - Sensation Vom Tespelkooi Of Valleyrise

Six years attractive dark brown eye colour and shape but stop at the limit for me compact outline would prefer a tad less weight on show personally. Good depth of body presented in lovely coat and feathering well textured, moved acceptably.
