Northern English Setter Society Championship Show –04/08/2021 - Judge Rhoneen Schoneville (Balvenie)

I would like to thank the Club for inviting me to judge and give thanks to the exhibitors who entered their dogs. It was a pleasure to be able to go over some lovely dogs today.

English Setter

Class A – The David Ingham Memorial Special Yearling Awards 2:2

1st 2 – Wilkinson’s PHENSET FIRESTORM

This young dog gives a lovely pleasing outline of a balanced orange belton. His head is in proportion with a defined stop and soft, kind expression and good ear set, correct eye shape and colour. Excellent reach of neck falling into well placed shoulders. Good front angulation with a nice forechest and well placed elbows, nice depth of chest with well sprung ribs. Short backed and moderate in length with good rear angulation and a nice bend of stifle with no exaggeration. Good overall muscle tone. Neat and tidy feet. Coat ok for a young dog, presented well. Moved well especially in profile view, tail carried a little high today, topline held on the move.

2nd 1 - Danks-kemish’s MANDYSET FAME AND FORTUNE AT ALOLFRANA

Pretty little blue belton bitch with a feminine soft expression. Good reach of neck, well placed shoulders, good spring of ribs, moderate length, nice topline when stacked. Good forechest, preferred the elbow placement of my first dog. Good bend of stifle. Nice tight feet. In good coat, presented and shown well. Moved with enthusiasm and speed, head held high and lovely slashing tail action.

Class B – The Special Open Memorial Award 9:7

1st 7 – Lawson’s WANSLEYDALE DORIAN GRAY JW

Well balanced throughout this tri dog was shown in good coat & condition. Lovely masculine head with the kindest of expression, strong muzzle, dark eyes & well set ears, good length of neck, nice layback of shoulder with good placement. Good depth of chest with good spring of ribs. Nicely toned with a good topline and good front assembly. Strong sweeping stifle with short hock. moved soundly with style & drive. Good tail set. Lovely coat in good condition. Moved well with enthusiasm and good reach and drive, sound out and back.

2nd 11 – Wilson’s RAVENSET GIOVANNI

I judged this orange belton boy as a youngster and was pleased to see he has come on very well and matured into a lovely balanced dog with nothing over exaggerated. He has a correctly proportioned head with a defined stop and correct ear set. Such a soft, gentle, lovely expression. Correct bite. Good length of neck with correct lay back of should and elbows well placed. Good spring of ribs. Nice even top line with a correctly set tail, top line held on the move. Nicely constructed front and rear with a deep chest, good bend of stifle and muscle tone good. Movement today was sound but he was a little sluggish and did not move as well as my first place.

3rd 10 – Williamson’s HAWKLAWN KALEIDOSCOPE

RES. 3 – Bryant’s SILVAMOON STORM TROOPER FOR PHENSET JW

VHC. 8 – Normansell’s LATIN LOVER REWIND FOR LARRENIE I IMP
