Border Union 2021

Keeshond:

Many thanks to the Officers and Committee for the invitation and especially the exhibitors for their entries.

Overall, the bitches had more positive points to dogs, but I was very disappointed in rear movement. Temperament was great throughout and markings have improved.

Graduate Dog (1/0)

1)Watkins’ Eerondaali Orlando: Correct head, however ears had too much distance between them. Good spring of rib, loin and body. Great texture of coat, but shading let him down. Movement OK.

Limit Dog (1/0)

1)Rose’s Rossvale Endeavour to Esorkees: Pleasing head with good expression and excellent ears. Loved his colouring, markings and clear coat. Compact body, with good feet and a picture when standing, however was pacing at times.

Open Dog (7/3A)

The most difficult class of the day and really had to split hairs for point scoring.

1)Hickson’s Ch Kichigai’s Only The Lonely: Good reach of neck, compact, short back and good topline. Good front brisk movement, well-ribbed, short loin and tight feet. Excellent colouring and well-defined markings. Alert with owner at all times. (DCC)

2) Peck’s Kwajongen He’s A Dandy Byquy: Lighter in colour but markings apparent. Great eye and expression. Good bone, well sprung rib and tight, highly set tail. Moved well but preferred hock angulation of 1. Sure his placing would swap on a different day. (RCC)

Veteran Dog (1/0)

1)Miles & Cullen’s Ch Rossvale’s Legacy for Lekkerbek: Such a gentleman with lovely spectacles and great ears. Good shape and size overall with excellent cat-like feet. Unfortunately he did not appear “himself” today which resulted in him looking a little wide and lost out in the Veteran challenge.

Puppy Bitch (1/0)

1)Matthews & Lee’s Winklestar Aurora at Valindale: Absolutely loved this pretty girl. Beautiful head with excellent ear set. Good slope of shoulder, leading into a great front. Well-sprung rib and good loin. Four-square on the stack, good angulations and hock placement. Admired her colouring. Really wanted to award her more, however the maturity of the others’ rear movement held her back today. Look forward to seeing her future show career blossom.(BP)

Junior Bitch (1/0)

1)Gregory’s Amikirs Lovealicious: This lady’s colour and markings were excellent and exactly what I like. Correct head, dark eye with small velvety ears. Good front but unfortunately a bit “jumpy” on the move which affected her movement. Would prefer tighter feet.

Limit Bitch (3/0)

1)Peck’s Byquy Starmaker: This was my surprise exhibit. Excellent front with good reach of neck and lay of shoulder. Four-square in profile, good angulation, bend in stifle, strong rear pasterns and moved well fore and aft with purpose. Bright, dark eyes giving a lovely expression who also had the desired complete scissor bite. Delighted to award her 2nd CC. (BCC)

2)Hickson’s Kichigai Uptown Girl JW: Smaller bitch. Liked this lady’s head which had good proportions. Admired her colouring and markings although not in full coat throughout. Good reach of neck, small ears and ruff well-plumed. Moved OK.

Open Bitch (3/1)

1)Rogers’ Can Gr/Am Ch Cedarhill-Shamrock Foreign Exchange at Keez (Imp Can): Good front and breadth of chest. Good pencilling and nicely arched neck. Really liked her overall profile, strong pasterns, moved well with no exaggerations. Correct feet and tailset. (RCC)

2)McKean’s Kichigai This Girl Is Mine At Yawren: Sweet-natured bitch. Lighter in bone than 1. Coat harsh with good ruff, although not in full coat at present. Markings remained well-defined and evident. Tended to overstretch on the stack.

Veteran Bitch (1/0)

1)Divers Ir Ch Kichigai Rare Edition At Murmansk Jun Ch CW 11 12 18 CJW ShCM: This nearly 12 year old lady certainly let us know she was in the ring. A smaller bitch who moved with purpose and did not give up for her owner. Dense coat with well-defined markings, tight feet. What a character. (BV)
