Pleased to be invited by SCCA to judge Basenji again. It is 6 yrs since I judged the breed @ Windsor.

Exhibitors were pleased to be back out showing again after the Covid restrictions.

We were 2nd in the ring, conditions were good with pleasant sunshine.

I was unaware that my DCC & BCC were litter brother/sister, also noted that they & the Res bitch CC/BPIB were sired by Ch Rebel Rebel Of Bushwacker

R/W 6mths, lovely chunky pup of high quality, so well developed in body, has a handsome head showing wrinkle, eye shape, neat well carried ears, strong well crested neck into firm topline, deep brisket, lovely bone /feet/ pasterns, balanced in angulation, good infill, short hocks, moved out with good stride, needing to settle in front action, excellent coat & condition.

2 Wooldridge. Aksaifleet Bwana

Tri 6mths, of leggy appearance showing promise, has a handsome head with wrinkle, neat well carried ears, firm in topline with well carried stern, good feet /pasterns, not so developed in body as 1 & taller in hocks.

Stylish B/W of 16 mths, holds a excellent square outline, with lofty head carriage on crested neck, handsome head with wrinkle, well carried slightly hooded ears, deep brisket with tuck up, balanced angulation, firm in body, would prefer tighter curl to tail & neater front feet, moved out with good stride.

Good sized R/W of 16 mths, pleased in head detail, good body condition, deep brisket, good tail curl, neat feet, would prefer to see more leg length to square up outline..

Promising 18mth R/W , of smaller size but still leggy & square in outline, handsome head with wrinkle, well set ears, balanced angulation, tail high set with tight curl, fine bone/ pasterns & short hocks, moved out quite smartly although was not sure what was expected of him, more ring training required.

Imposing 2yr R/W well up to size, has presence that commands attention. Square in outline, Good head detail with wrinkle, good eye shape, well carried ears, firm & strong thro body, balanced angulation, good infill, deep brisket & tuck-up, high set curled tail , good shelf, with lovely bone & neat feet, moved out smartly.Pleased to award him the Res CC.

2 Matthews. Flugelberry Free Cuba

4yr Brindle of smaller size, pleased for outline, square & leggy, high set tail, would like to see more detail in head, can carry ears better, lost out to one on angulation & presence.

1 Hardy & Hallam. Tokaji Walking In Memphis

High quality 3yr Tri with immediate appeal, commands attention with his presence, liked his size & square outline, has a most handsome head with level planes & wrinkle, small ears, well carried, crested neck in to well developed forehand, good infill, good length of forearm & return of upper arm, placing legs well under body with snug fitting elbows, neat feet, deep brisket & tuck-up, firm in topline, well developed hindquarters with moderate angulation & short hocks, tail has good curl but could be slightly higher set, but still shows evident shelf, moved out with good stride, in excellent coat & condition. Pleased to award him the CC.

2 Clinton. Ch/Ir Ch Westlawn Diablo ShCM

Tri now 6yrs, have met before, lots to like, leggy & with good length of forearm, handsome head with wrinkle, carried on crested neck, softer in topline than1, moderate & balanced angulation, defined shelf, neat feet, in good coat & condition, not so positive in movement as 1.

Smart upstanding Tri dog, now 7yrs have met before, appealed for his square outline with good length of forearm, firm short back, holds a handsome head on crested neck, moderate in angulation, truer action gained his placing.

2 Grayson. Ch Kissangani Shining Star At Embeau

Very nice package, 7yr Tri bitch with lots of appeal, lovely head & detail, very neat ears, firm short back, moderate angulation & short hocks, not so defined in her tuck-up, prefer a tighter curl to tail, & not so positive in movement.

I see from my records that I judged this elegant & leggy tri bitch as a Puppy @ Windsor 2015, now 6yrs still has appeal, good head detail, hooded ears carried on 

crested neck, firm in topline, could be shorter coupled, moderate angulation, short hocks, like tighter curl to tail, moved with good stride.

Very raw 6 mth R/W , leggy & square in outline, very feminine head with wrinkle, small well carried ears, neat feet, pliant skin & good coat, would like to see much tighter curl to tail, lacks infill, unfortunately both handler & exhibit were unsure what was required, more ringcraft training required, was difficult to assess movement.

Eye Catching R/W of 6mths, lovely for size & balance, in excellent coat & condition, has a feminine head & expression with wrinkle, neat hooded ears, crested neck, square & leggy in outline, with good depth of body, good forehand with infill, firm level topline, high set tail with tight curl, defined shelf, moderate hind angulation with low set hocks, good bone/feet & pasterns, moved out soundly with a pleasing light stride, hopefully has a bright future. A pleasure to award her the Res CC & BP.

2 Holloway. Aksaifleet Basi Busu

Feminine & attractive 6mth Tri of pleasing size,not so forward in development as 1, presents a leggy square outline, has a firm level topline, moderate angulation, neat feet, in good coat & condition, still needing to deepen in brisket & fill in forehand, moved out smartly & soundly.

Another delightful R/W of 18 mths, again lovely for size & shape, alert & attentive, most attractive feminine head & expression with wrinkle, has a firm topline, well set tail with excellent tight double curl, moderate hind angulation, moved out with light free striding action.

2 Oorloff. Shyllar Rapt In Gold

Most lovely R/W of 17 mths, very feminine head & expression, lovely crested neck into good forehand, most pleasing outline, spoilt by carrying too much condition, lacking defined tuck-up, firm in topline , deep brisket, moderate angulation, prefer to see a much tighter curl to tail, another that would benefit by ring training.

2yr Tri presenting a square & leggy outline, attractive head & ears, deep brisket & defined tuck-up, moderate angulation & short hocks, good bone/feet, tail is tightly curled but would prefer to see it higher set, good, picture is spoilt by tending to roach in topline whilst at the stance, carries a better shape upon moving.

Elegant & classy 2yr Tri, loved her head detail with wrinkle & chiselling, inquisitive expression, neat slightly hooded ears well carried, leggy & short backed with good depth of brisket & defined tuck-up, pleasing forehand with infill, good length of forearm, neat feet, carries a high set tail with good curl, has defined shelf, would prefer more moderate hind angulation, pleases with short hocks, moves out with such elegance, carries herself so well with lofty head carriage & a tireless free flowing gait.

Delighted to award her the CC & later BOB over her litter brother.

2 Lindsey. Shyllar Crowned To Lead

Neat & stylish 2yr R/W, of lovely size & shape, delightful head with wrinkle, neat ears, crested neck, good depth to brisket, defined tuck-up, firm in topline, moderate angulation, tail is tightly curled could be higher set, not happy on the table, however overcame this & moved out very smartly to gain this placing.

5yr R/W attractive head & ears, holds a pleasing square shape, firm topline, tail high set & tightly curled, neat feet, prefer to see more angulation in forehand, little wide in front action.

2 Matthews. Flugelberry Fizz Princess

4yr Brindle, has an attractive head & ears, preferred her forehand to 1, however was carrying too much condition, losing tuck-up & was softer in topline, looser curl to tail, again little wide in front action.
