Miniature Schnauzer Club Championship Show

7th November 2021

I had a thoroughly enjoyable day judging the Miniature Schnauzer Club Championship show at the KC building and would like to thank you for the excellent entry and the good sportsmanship shown throughout. The show had a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I was fortunate to have Sue and Robert McGrann as my very capable stewards and they added to the enjoyment of the day. The catering was superb, as always when it’s produced by the ever-youthful Len Anness. I can’t believe that he has recently turned 90, looking as spritely as ever. In fact, his dessert was very worthy of a “Hollywood handshake” !!! I was also honoured to see Peter Newman ringside, looking well and his obvious passion for his breed never waning.

There was quality in abundance, and I was more than happy with both line ups. Some super youngsters coming up, which bodes well for the future. Presentation on the whole was excellent and the temperament of each and every exhibit without fault.

Dogs

Veteran

1: Bishop and Evan’s NUJAX SCHOOL OF ROCK. 8-year-old b/S very smart and not showing his age at all, a credit to his owner. Good for size and substance being robust in build. Sturdy and in excellent coat. Alert expression, strong neck into firm topline. Well set tail. Good to go over, he is well ribbed and balanced in angulation. Moved with purpose and kept his outline. Decent one.

2: Mellor’s BEANARA NJALS SAGA AT LYZAHRO. 9-year-old white boy of good size. On the move he uses himself well and keeps his outline. Decent expression and well pigmented.

 Puppy

1: Reeve’s DENEENS FRONT RUNNER. nearly 12-month-old p/s and what an absolute cracker. Ultra smart, he already presents the finished picture. Ideal for size, cobby, strong and sturdy. Strong neck into firm topline, well set tail. His expression is keen, and he uses his ears all he time. Superb to go over being well ribbed and a short strong loin. His coat is in optimum condition and beautifully presented. On the move he can never be overlooked, style and precision all in one package. Super on the out and back and in profile will always take the eye. He has a very assured future and I loved him. Very seriously considered in the challenge and I was splitting hairs. My RCC and BPIS winner today. Not the last we’ve heard of this boy.

Junior

1: Parker & McDonald’s VIOLIS WAIT N’SEE, beautifully presented p/s boy who has a stylish outline. Decent head and expression. Arched neck, firm topline and tailset decent. Well ribbed and well boned. Moved well in profile, just a tad erratic going away today. Smart boy though.

Yearling

1: Partner’s SOLETRADER MAD MAX AT ONFLEEK, p/S boy that presents a sturdy and cobby outline. Decent head , neck and front. Firm topline and well-set tail. Coat of good texture well ribbed with short loin. Moved well in profile.

2: White’s DEANSGATE LESTER SQUARE, p/S beautifully presented. His coat is of good texture. He has a keen expression, strong topline and balanced in angulation. Just needs to fill into his frame and he was a tad wide coming towards me today. Moved well in profile.

Novice

1: Gordon’s STARBOUND LEAD THE WAY, p/S presenting a typical outline. Balanced head, with keen expression. Decent front and firm topline. On the move he uses himself and puts his feet in the right place. Well-presented and decent coat texture.

2: Mellor’s LYZAHRO WHITE HERE WHITE NOW, white boy of good size. Decent pigmentation. Well ribbed and short in loin. Not quite the bone of the winner. Moved ok in profile, a tad erratic going away.

1: Dixon’s ANDIX FIELD OF DREAMS, ultra smart and typical, he presents a very sturdy and robust outline. His head and expression are superb, to go over there is very little to change, and he is all of a piece. Well ribbed and strong bone. Strong, clean neck leading into firm topline and tail set bang on. On the move he keeps his outline in profile and uses himself really well. Has reach in front and drive from behind. Champion quality for sure. In the challenge it was if he knew that he had a serious challenge coming from the puppy dog. He grew in importance, looked down his nose and defied me to look elsewhere. On the go round he was breath-taking, and he just could not be denied. CC and BIS and without doubt a title coming his way. Loved him.

2: Lowton, Humphries and manser’s NUJAX BEAM ME UP., ultra glamorous p/S whose presentation is a masterpiece. He has the most imposing outline that can never be overlooked. Strong bone, firm topline and super head and expression. He impresses in profile movement with his eye-catching outline. Today he just lost out on the out and back where he was a tad untidy, and I preferred the front assembly of the winner. Another of champion quality, and I won’t disagree when he does.

3: Descere’s JACKPOT TYRAS AKVAMARINAS (IMP)

Special Open (p/S)

1: McDermott’s LICHSTONE THE SWAGMAN, super outline and type on this boy. I liked his head and expression, and he has a sturdy build. Uses his neck and keeps a firm topline. On the move he won the class on the out and back and kept his outline in profile.

Well ribbed and short in loin, she’s an eye catcher for sure. BPB

2: Newman & Day’s RISEPARK SPRITZER, slightly different in type but still with lots to like about her. She too pleases for head and expression, could just possibly use her ears a little more as she becomes more confident of the job in hand. Loved her head and expression, strong neck into firm topline and well-set tail, carried well. On the table she is a delight to go over, with everything in the right place and scores in balance of angulation. Presented well and a coat of superb texture and colour. On the move, in profile, she can never be overlooked, has style, reach and drive, holding her outline. To be picky, she could possibly be just a little tidier going away. In the challenge she came in and continued to impress with her profile movement and carriage. Handled to advantage, she asked for the CC and was rewarded. Her 3rd CC I was told and very worthy of her title she is too. Superb. CC, BOS and RBIS

2: Hood’s RITZBEECH TIME TO LEAD, another good p/S who pleases for type. She is feminine and yet still robust . Good to go over, she too has little to change. On the move she is precise, just needs to work on her carriage and then she’ll be away.
