Paignton Championship Show

9th August 2021

Briard

A modest entry but pleased to say that temperaments were all excellent. All had the correct double dew claws at the rear. Tails are a slight concern, some short, straight without the required J and a couple that were almost ringed.

Dogs

Puppy

1: SNELLING, Mrs J Beaugency Bearly Bouzy, 8 month old fawn, pleasing for size and well boned. Head coming along, just needs to break. Front well placed. Long neck. Strong topline, and well set tail with good length and j. Coat texture decent for his age. Moves extremely well especially behind. Well presented. RCC and BP and delighted to see him win the Puppy Group.

Yearling

1: SNELLING, Mrs J Beaugency Bouzy Dude, fawn , well presented and in good order. On the move he impresses in profile. A little bit at the teenage stage at the moment and he needs to fill in front. Coat of good texture. Balanced in outline, he is in good muscle tone. Firm topline well set tail and he carries himself correctly.

2: FUNNELL, Mrs G Jandade Reach For The Stars with Hartswelin, black boy with the most delightful disposition.good for size and he has a decent head. A tad happy with his tail on the move, but it is well set. Coat in good order, just a little soft at present. . Not quite the angulation in front of the winner and he tended to short step a little in profile.

Post Grad

1: DESANTIS, Ms T Jandade Starship Trooper, black dog who is very decent to go over. He won the class today on front assembly. Coat of good texture. Moved out when he put his mind to it.

2: JACOBS-PEARCE, Mrs N Arundall Mithra, fawn, who is very well presented. Needs to develop in chest and drop yet, but time is on his side. Moves with a free easy gait. Coat texture coming in.

3: HADDOCK, Mr & Mrs P M Gilcoru Pinot D'Brie

Limit

1: ELDER, Ms N Stormfield Baktu Our Roots To Barbureve, fawn dog , beautifully presented. He is all male and fully mature. To go over he impresses very much. Good front assembly, depth of chest and spring of rib. Balanced behind, well set tail and carried well. His coat is now mature and it is dry to the touch. It is however, on the move that he totally impresses. Precise on the out and back and extends in profile, holding a typical outline and covering the ground with ease. Superb dog that I have done well for before and he couldn’t be denied today. Handled beautifully. CC

2: PATIENCE, Mrs R & RUAL, Mrs L & RUAL-KEOGH, Mrs N Gilcoru Ugni Blanc D'Brie, liked this black boy too, he is a very pleasing shape stacked and he is handled by a master. Decent head, all male, strong topline and well set tail. Not quite the front of the winner and this is where it cost him. I would also like him to be a bit more positive in profile. Good one though. In the challenge for the RCC he lost his topline and so was pipped by the youngster.

Open

1: PARRY, Miss J A Ch Stormymoon Untamed Irish, black dog, fully mature and pleases very much for type on the stack. He is decent to go over and has magnificent bone. Masculine head, well balanced. Enough neck, strong topline and moves precisely with a steady pace. Would just prefer him to carry his tail better on the move.

2: WESCOTT-SMITH, Mrs T & RUAL-KEOGH, Mrs N & RUAL, M Gilcoru Sauvignon d'brie at Rozimba Bel Jun, fawn dog who is coming along on the right lines. He is very well presented and handled. Not the maturity in chest of the winner. His front is good and he is balanced behind. Coat texture good and he moved out well. Maturity will be to his advantage.

Bitches

Junior

1: PIGOTT, Mrs C & PIGOTT, Mr R Gilcoru Amour D'Brie, black girl who presents a very pleasing outline stacked. Typical on the move, she just needs confidence. Well presented

Novice:

1: SWEET, Mrs T & SWEET, Miss E Arundall Ebony, black bitch, well presented and moved with a free and easy stride. Pretty in head.

2: PIGOTT, Mrs C & PIGOTT, Mr R Gilcoru Amour D'Brie

Post Grad

1: PARRY, Miss J A Stormymoon Summer, fawn bitch whose colour is starting to come through. Coat of good texture. Feminine head and expression, decent front, strong neck, slopes just slightly in topline. In profile, she moves with an easy stride and is precise on the out and back. Well handled and presented. With luck should carry a title.

2: GASKIN, Mrs N & BARBER, Mrs A Shezmo Lady Midna, black who presents a very typical outline stacked. Decent to go over, she has all in the right place. Decent expression but would like a little more strength to under jaw. Moved precisely but would benefit from just a tad more enthusiasm. Good bitch though.

3: SWEET, Mrs T & SWEET, Miss E Arundall Ebony

Limit

1: FLETCHER, Mrs K Gilcoru World d'Brie at Arrowflec, absolutely gorgeous black bitch who is simply beautiful for type. She is a delight to go over, scores in head and expression, excellent front, strong topline and well set and carried tail. On the move she is precise on the out and back and in profile holds herself so typically and uses herself to advantage. Her coat is of excellent texture and she is beautifully and sympathetically handled. Stacked she epitomises breed type. A superb bitch very worthy of a title. CC, the first of many I’m sure, BOB and thrilled to see her win the group. Not the last we will hear of this young lady.

2: FUNNELL, Mrs G Hartswelin Angelina, decent for type, she is good to go over. When she puts her mind to it, she is very sound…. But she needs to put her mind to it !

3: JACOBS-PEARCE, Mrs N Salieri Heaven Knows At Arundall

Open

1: BIDDLECOMBE, Mrs C Stormfield Fergie At Chavell, another absolutely beautiful bitch, this time a rich fawn off exceptional colour. Presents a superb outline, full of breed type and she is feminine yet full of substance . In super condition, well presented and very well handled. Her head has developed well since I last judged her, strong neck, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Coat of excellent texture. Another who holds herself so typically on the move and she uses herself. Champion quality for sure and I will not disagree when she does. In the challenge something upset her and she had to settle for the RCC.
