THE BRACCO ITALIANO SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

THURSDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2021

Thank you to the committee of The Bracco Italiano Society, The National committee and the 2 stewards, all of whom enabled the show to be so well run and enjoyable.

All the exhibits had divergent head planes, there were a few level bites. The correct subtle top line was evident, some showed it stood but all showed it on the move.  The break in the top line should not be a pronounced dip in the back.  The main points I observed across the entry –too many had lost the square body proportions, not short coupled, long loins and therefore weak in the back.  Front and rear angulation seemed to be lacking, some tended to have upright shoulders and needed more stifle, which reflected in poor movement.  Temperaments were very good; all were shown in lovely coat condition. All had an equal mask.  A real positive since last judging the breed was the overly narrow muzzles and close eyes giving a harsh expression, predominantly seen in the bitches, seemed to have improved considerably. I would prefer some of the docks to be a little longer.

MPD (1,0) – 1st Northey’s Jakobstown One Fine Day 8mth orange.  Very leggy youngster who has grown upwards quickly so just needs to mature into his height which will come in time.  Correct equal head proportions, low set ear.  I liked his length of neck leading into good shoulders.  He has a nice length of upper arm and shoulder.  Chest needs to drop.  I would prefer his ribs to be further back, to shorten his couplings and loin.  Good croup slope to a nice tail set.  Loose on the move but as expected for his age, had lovely front reach.  BPD and RBPIS. PD (2,1) – 1st Northey’s Jakobstown One Fine Day. JD (2,0) – 1st Bowley’s Gunsyn Ginspiration 14mth orange. A super head, correct equal proportions, deep in the muzzle, kind eye, low set ear.  Pronounced occiput and liked his chiselling which many lack.  Good front and rear angulation, chest still needs to drop.  I would like his ribs to be further back which would strengthen his loin. Liked his movement which will only improve as he matures, he has nice rear drive and good front reach, but I felt it could have been even better as he did seem unsettled on the day. 2nd Pillinger’s Withamfriary Scrabble Star 14mth orange.  Heavier set than 1st, I liked his bone and substance.  Lots to like about his head.  He needs to mature especially in his sternum, as he stands and moves very close at the front.  Another who is just a little too long, he does have good rear angulation which he used on the move.  Would prefer more slope to his croup leading to a lower tail set then his carriage would not be so high. ND (1,0) 1st Sazmallin Beijing Boy to Juha 2yr chestnut.  Liked his head, correct proportions, lovely dark eye and low ear set.  Nice chiselling.  His neck leads to well set shoulders of the correct width; his upper arm could be longer which would balance his shoulder angulation. Good height to his withers.  Very good rear angulation, strong over his loin, correct slope of the croup into a well set tail and was one of only a few which carried it horizontally on the move.  Had a strong rear action with drive, I would prefer his front movement to be as true though, hopefully it will improve as he matures. PGD (4,0) 1st Hartley’s Jakobstown Wray of Joy 2yr orange.  Liked him a lot and he will continue to improve with maturity.  Super male head, correct equal proportions, depth to his muzzle, kind eye and low set ear.  Nice length of neck leading to balanced, well angulated shoulders and high withers, good length of upper arm, elbows close and super depth of chest.  Very much liked his bone.  Strong in the loin.  His rear angulation was balanced to his front.  Lovely stride on the move with reach and drive.  A lower set tail and better carriage would complete the picture.  2nd Bell and Maddox’s Tolriver Enzo at Owlspoint. 2yr chestnut.  A different type to 1st but has many of the same points.  Super head with low set ear and eye.  Correct equal proportions and depth of muzzle.  Liked his length of neck, good shoulders.  He has a nice length of upper arm but not quite so angulated as 1st.  Very much liked his square body, nice short coupled and strong over the loin. Moderate rear angulation.  On the move he was balanced, had a good ground covering stride with front reach and rear drive.  Shown well muscled but I would prefer a little more weight.  He will come on as he matures. LD (4,0) 1st Rose’s Braccorions Running Rings around Piccorino 23mth orange.  I am sure he will have a good future.  Super male head, lovely expression, eye, low set ear and correct equal proportions.  Strong neck leading to angulated shoulders of good width. High at the wither, nice length of upper arm and depth of chest.  Well sprung ribs, short coupled, strong in the loin and moderate in his stifle.  Balanced on the move with front reach and drive.  Has a correct slope to the croup but would prefer a lower tail set and carriage. I like his bone and substance but would not like him to have any more. 2nd Sanderson’s Owlspoint Trouble Again JW 3yr chestnut.  Another I liked. Very typical of a chestnut.  Super square body proportions.   Male head with everything correct proportion wise, kind eye and low set ear. Good depth to his muzzle.  Nice length of neck leading to balanced shoulders with good length of upper arm and height to his withers.  Ribs well back, short coupled and strong over the loin.  Moderate rear angulation.  Moved very well, covering the ground with drive and front reach.   Preferred the angulation and bone of the winner. OD (6,1) 1st Towns Oh La La de Clos des Petites Vignes 2yr orange.  Absolutely no mistaking this is a male bracco, plenty of bone and substance.  Super, strong male head, equal proportions, low set ear and very kind expression.  Lovely depth of muzzle but would not want him to have any more.  One of only a few on the day who had a visible median furrow.  Excellent length of neck, strong and muscular leading to well angulated shoulders and high withers.  Super length of upper arm and blades with correct width between the shoulders.   Chest well down with a good sternum, pronounced but not overly.  Square in his body proportions, well sprung ribs, short coupled and strong muscular loin.  Moderate rear angulation, correct croup and tail set.  On the move he excelled, covering the ground with ease, balanced with drive and good front reach, all with a lightness of foot considering how boned he is.  His dewlaps are not his forte and can make him look a little heavier in the front than he is.  I would also actually prefer him to be a little stronger in his front pasterns. Still needs to mature fully, but his angulation and movement won out on the day.  Pleased to award him the DCC and BOS in Show.  2nd Sanderson’s Owlspoint Trouble at Mill ShCM, ShCEX, BWNL’18.  5yr orange.  Very similar qualities to 1st and a very close decision, on the day it was movement.  Super male head, good length of neck, preferred his moderate dewlap to the winner, into well laid shoulders.  Lovely length of upper arm. Square body proportions.  Strong loin and moderate rear angulation.  Moved very well, balanced and ground covering.  Just not the front reach of 1st. ChD (4,0) 1st Bell and Maddox’s Sh Ch Owlspoint Master of Trouble ShCM ShCEX. 6yr orange.  A super male with bone and substance.  Strong head, good depth to his muzzle, correct proportions, kind eye and low set ear.  Excellent length of neck leading to good shoulders and wither height. Nice depth of chest, elbows close in.  Good spring of rib but would prefer him to be slightly stronger over the loin and shorter coupled.  Moderate rear angulation.  On the moved he excelled, covering the ground with ease and drive coupled with front reach.  Pleased to award him the RCC. 2nd Goode’s Sh Ch Owlspoint King of Trouble at Brackenvale JW ShCM ShCEX 5yr orange.  Another super male with a good correct head, eye and ear set. I would prefer him to be just a tad less deep in the muzzle.  Shorter in stature than 1st but very balanced and I liked his bone and substance.  Square proportioned in the body, short coupled and strong over the loin.  Strong neck, leading to nice front angulation with good length of upper arm.  Good on the move with drive and reach, I would prefer him to have more rear angulation though. MPB (3,0)1st Pillinger’s Withamfriary Dandelion 6mth orange. Super puppy making her debut in the ring and what a debut, BPB and BPIS.  Really caught my eye, feminine but with bone and substance.  Beautiful head of correct proportions, lovely depth to her muzzle, well set eye and low set ear. Strong neck leading to well angulated shoulders with good length of upper arm.  Chest already showing good depth, elbows close in.  Ribs well back, short coupled and strong loin.  Her rear angulation fully balances the front.  Nice slope to her croup with a good tail set which enabled her to carry her tail correctly.  On the move she is just as to be expected, loose and a little unbalance, she is only 6 months but there is rear drive and lovely front reach.  One I am sure who will have a positive future. 2nd Coghlan’s Braccorions Va Va Voom 7mth chestnut.  Another super puppy, at that leggy, very high rear stage.  Liked her bone and substance.  Beautiful head, lovely eye and low ear set.  Has a median furrow just beginning to show.  Clean neck leading to angulated front, not quite the length of upper arm as 1st. Her chest needs to drop but she has plenty of time to mature. Moderate rear angulation.  Square body proportions, ribs well back into strong loin.  Loose on the move as expected but has drive and front reach.  PB (4,1) 1st Pillinger’s Withamfriary Dandelion 2nd Pearson’s Kelevra Covo di Ladri 10mth orange.  Very feminine, nice head of equal proportions, low set ear.  Slightly lighter built than the winner and is at her leggy stage.  Will fill out as she matures.  Has good front angulation but I would like more length to her upper arm which would balance fully with her super rear angulation.  Chest still needs to drop. Like her short couplings and loin.  Lovely correct croup and set tail. Balanced on the move and will only improve as she gets older. JB (1,0) 1st Bowley’s Gunsyn Gineva 14mth orange. Lovely bitch with bone and substance.  Feminine head with nice median furrow.  Good proportions, kind eye and low set ear. Nice chiselling.  Chest needs to drop.  Her length of neck leads to angulated shoulders with nice length of upper arm but I would prefer it to be more angulated.  Ribs well back, short coupled.  She has very good rear angulation which she used well on the move.  Liked her tail set and carriage.  She covered the ground moving but would like more front reach.  She should come on well as she matures. YB (1,0) Angus’ Braccorions Ruddy Gorgeous 23mth orange.  A lovely bitch with bone and substance who was very much enjoying herself! Lots to like about her, good front and rear angulation, square body proportions and short coupled.  Nice height to her withers. Had a pretty head of equal proportions, low set ear and good eye.  A tad too deep in the muzzle but I hope as she matures her head will look more in balance with her body.  Liked her movement with ground covering stride, rear drive and front reach. NB (1,0) Jenkins’ Braccorions Upstart 9mth orange. Very much a puppy who needs to mature.  Pretty head, low set ear and nice median furrow.  Liked her length of neck.  Would prefer more length of upper arm and angulation to her shoulders. She is a little down on her front pasterns.  Square bodied, moderate rear angulation.  Correct croup slope and tail set. Very loose and unbalanced on the move. PGB (4,1) 1st Angus’ Braccorions Livin It Up at Sparkenhoe 4yr orange.  Liked her bone and substance.  Square bodied.  Pretty head with kind eye, low set ear, visible median furrow and chiselling.  I would prefer her to have more depth to her chest, length to her upper arm and shoulder angulation. She has well sprung ribs, nice short coupled and strong loins.  Her rear angulation is good and she used it for rear drive on the move, just not quite as balanced in front movement. Good croup and tail set. 2nd Crawley’s Bushwacker Allegra at Marlablue 2yr chestnut.  Similar qualities to the winner but needs to mature and has less bone and substance.  Pretty head, equal proportions, low set ear and kind eye.  Ribs well sprung into moderate couplings and loin.  Would prefer more shoulder angulation and length of upper arm.  Liked her croup and tail set.  Good rear angulation which she used on the move, but like the winner untidy in the front. LB (3,0) A very strong class. 1st Whitney’s Owlspoint Faith in Trouble 3yr orange. So much to like.  Square bodied, balanced, moderate front and rear angulation.  Good head with correct equal proportions, very kind eye and low set ear.  Nice chiselling.  Strong, muscled neck leading to nice shoulders with correct width and high withers.  Correct in the top line both stood and on the move.  Short coupled, strong in the loin. I would prefer more slope to her croup.  On the move she was balanced, light on her feet, covered the ground with rear drive and front reach.  Can only see her continuing to improve and do well.  Pleased to award her the RCC and RBIS, it was a close decision for the CC. 2nd Critchley’s Braccorion’s Never Say Never JW 3yr chestnut. Very close to the winner, both these bitches have very similar qualities.  Square bodied, well sprung ribs, short coupled and strong in the loin. Lovely head with low set ear, equal proportions and kind eye.  I would prefer more strength to her neck.  Balanced front and rear angulation with a good turn of stifle.  On the move she covered the ground with drive, just not the front reach of 1st but another who should continue to have a good future. OB (6,1) 1st Bowley’s Gunsyn Everywhere 4yr orange. Another bitch I liked.  Good bone and substance.  Super head with correct equal proportions, low set ear and lovely expression.  Good length of neck into well angulated shoulders and wither height.  Nice depth of chest.  Liked her rear angulation, croup and tail set.  I would prefer her ribs to be further back and stronger in the loin.  Balanced on the move. 2nd Hartley’s Tybechgyn Tiger Lilly for Jakobstown 6yr orange.   Just beginning to show her age now.  Super head, length of neck, balanced front and rear angulation. Well sprung ribs.  Good bone and substance.  On the move balanced and ground covering. ChB (2,1) 1st Pearson’s Sh Ch and IR Sh Ch Braccorions Nesta Vipas JW 3yr orange.  Super bitch, everything how it should be.  Square proportions, bone and substance yet still feminine.  Lovely head, equal proportions, good depth to her muzzle, pronounced occiput.  Kind eye and low ear set.  Really liked her strong neck into well laid shoulders with good upper arm length.  Has height at the withers leading to correct top line. Ribs well back, short coupled and strong over the loin.  Her rear angulation is as good as her front.  Correct slope to her croup and low tail set.  On the move she was light on her feet, covered the ground with drive and front reach.  Maturity and balance won on the day, thrilled to award her the CC and BIS. VB (1,0) 1st Towns’ IT Ch Altea de Arte Venandi 8yr chestnut.  Super bitch, just beginning to show her age but still so much to like. More compact than some, has lovely bone and substance.  Very good head, strong neck into well angulated shoulders and length of upper arm.  Good depth to her chest, elbows tight.  A tad down on her pasterns now.  Good spring of rib, short coupled and strong in the loin.  Good turn of stifle. On the move she belied her age and out moved many of the others, her strength in her back, loins, couplings and rear angulation ensuring she has balanced and ground covering movement.  Pleased to award her BVIS.
