DARLINGTON CHAMP SHOW 18th SEPTEMBER 2021

HUNGARIAN WIREHAIRED VIZSLA

I would like to thank Darlington Championship show for inviting me to judge my own breed at their very well organised show where I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Although I found the exhibits very mixed in both coat and size, all were shown in very good condition. I was very pleased with the quality of my final line ups and principal winners.

Veteran Dog (3)

A very pleasing trio of veterans, their condition all a credit to their owners.

1st: SPILLANE Sh Ch Belatarr Hercules

Very masculine in head with kind expression. He has good body proportions although well up for size. Good straight front and deep in chest. Moves so soundly and with precision, shown in excellent coat and condition.

2nd: WHITING Ir Ch Hejocsabai Turul at Cragvallie

Very attractive in head with kind eye. Strong muscular neck and has a good shoulder lay and straight front assembly. Body of good depth and moderate rear angulation. Showing his age now, but moved steadily enjoying his day

3rd: HOWARD Zoldmali U R Special

Junior Dog (2)

1st: SUMMERFIELD Miadsc Cast a Spell.

Pleasing youngster but still very raw. Correct head proportions with kind eye. Would prefer more neck length, has good straight front and adequate depth of chest with good spring of rib. Adequate rear angulation and moves so soundly holding his topline well in profile. Coat developing well and of good rich colour.

2nd: ASHTON Kutyahaus Fred Finbar

A rather boisterous youngster who wouldn’t settle in the ring. Pleasing in head with kind eye. I found him very erratic on the move with a high tail carriage.

Post Graduate Dog (3)

1st: HOWARD Zoldmali Latin Lover

A smart looking dog of moderate size. Correct head proportions with good eye, would prefer more head furnishings. He is well balanced throughout with correct shoulder lay and adequate rear angulation. Has a harsh coat of dark colour. Moved out soundly holding his topline well.

2nd: WHITING Zoldmali Iszkiri at Cragvallie

A dog of overall good type and shape with adequate bone. Well laid shoulders, good spring of rib and moderate bend of stifle. Has correct coat of good colour He was playing up on the move today, but moved soundly once he settled.

3rd: LEAVER Leiborschy Jussi

Limit Dog (4)

1st: THOMAS, Hosokter Tompa at Odinsmoke

One I have placed highly before. This dog excels in outline, he is so balanced throughout. Well off for bone, firm body with deep chest and correct angles both fore and aft. Very workmanlike in appearance and he is a strong and positive mover, just missing a good jacket and furnishings.

2nd: HOWARD Zoldmali Latin Lover (repeat)

Open Dog (6)

1st: MOSS Ewtor Nobody Does It Better

One I have given high honours to before and he has much improved with maturity. Very attractive in head, masculine but without any coarseness and kind expression. I found him very balanced in outline with correct length to depth ratio, well laid shoulders and good firm body. Adequate bend of stifle and moved out well covering the ground with ease. Good coat with lovely furnishings to complete the picture. Pleased to award him the CC.

2nd: GUEST Bardantop Banoffee

Another pleasing male with correct head proportions. He is strongly made throughout, correct shoulders and has good body depth. Hindquarters are well muscled with good width to thigh and stands on strong hocks. Tight fitting harsh coat and moved round the ring with drive, presented in hard muscular condition. Res CC

A very pleasing youngster with good bone and substance and such a balanced outline when stacked. Correct head proportions and lovely expression. Post Gradate Bitch (4)

1st: Lanspar Kivalo

Stood alone in her class today. A bitch of good size but quite light for bone. Straight front and well angulated rear quarters. Moved soundly would prefer more coat and furnishings.

Limit Bitch (3)

1st SMILLIE-GRAY Oakberrow Let The Fun Be Gin JW

I judged this quality bitch as a promising raw junior and she has certainly fulfilled that early promise. Feminine head with kind eye and such a lovely sweet expression. She is well constructed throughout, so well balanced with correct angulation and very workmanlike. Shoulders well placed with excellent front assembly and good depth of brisket. Coat of good colour and harsh texture. She is so sound on the move and goes with good reach and drive. Stood out in my line up for the CC, also my BOB.

This bitch is leaner in head yet still appealing. Good straight front, with tight neat feet.

Firmly built throughout with body of correct size and proportions. Adequate rear angulation and correct tailset. Shown in tip top muscular condition but felt she could hold more weight today. She moves with such ease and soundness covering the ground well, at one with her handler.
