RICHMOND CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW

BRACCO ITALIANO

Judge: Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank Richmond Championship Show for their kind invitation to judge this lovely breed. But most of all the exhibitors for the great pleasure of your dogs. It is such a unique and beautiful breed, and I very much enjoyed the opportunity to judge. Unfortunately, the ring was a little small, and on a slope, which also did not help when assessing movement for such a ground covering dog

1st: 2391 SLADDEN, MR I BUSHWACKER DANGEROUS DAVE AT CANEMAMANS

Upstanding 20 month old orange roan dog, of a nice overall size and shape. He shows to have a square outline. Lean and masculine head, of good proportions, depth to the muzzle and slight roman nose, lovely clean tight eyes of a toning colour to give such a gentle expression. Strong neck holding the correct topline. Good depth to the brisket, a little tight at the elbows. Lovely width of thigh and good bend of stifle. In profile moves with a good stride, needing to tighten behind

1st: 2386 JONES, Mrs J & JONES, Mr D Elfrindew Zion Train

Rather wriggly 16 month old orange roan dog. Not the easiest to assess as he was a real fidget, but shows a pleasing overall shape when stood, being just off square. At the stage where is he still needing to fill his frame a little more. Masculine head, with good depth to the flew, big spongy nose, and kind oval eyes. Liked his bone and substance, with a strong neck, and correct topline, falling away a little at the croup. Lovely depth of brisket and ribs carried well back, strong and well angulated hindquarters. Moved with enthusiasm and drive

3 pleasing dogs, all could change places on another day

1st: 2373 COTTON, Mrs L Braccorions Quick to Judge

Liked this 2 year old orange roan dog for his square outline and strength. Pleasing dog of good type and structure. His head is masculine and lean with good length, a little more level in his planes. Well chiselled below the eye, kind and intelligent expression. Strong muscular neck flowing into a well held and correct topline, good fill in of forechest and well boned limbs. Nicely angulated hindquarters, good width of thigh and in firm muscular condition. Moving on a long stride and with purpose. Close up for top honours

2nd: 2370 ANGUS, Mrs L & CRITCHLEY, Mrs M Purdex Showman

2 year old white & orange dog, with super bone and strength all through, giving the impression of power and stamina, but not overdone. He has such a kind expression, the head shape is long and lean, well chiselled, with depth to the flews, a fraction level in his planes. Strong neck, deep in brisket, ribs carried well back, short and strong in loin. Powerful hindquarters with a good width of thigh and bend of stifle. Not as settled today as winner on the move, but shows super drive

1st: 2389 ROSE, Mrs J Braccorions Running Rings Around Piccorino

White & Orange dog who is coming up 2 years of age, and today had ants in his pants! A real fidget but still managed to convey a noble demeanour. When not being a muppet, he holds a lovely shape when stood, square in profile, with lovely oval bone and substance all through. His head show divergent planes, is of a good length and well chiselled, depth to the flews with a kind tight well toning eye. Strong muscular neck, deep in brisket and well developed forechest. His topline has the slight fall and rise with a well set on tail. Pleasing length and width of thigh. On the move shows the scope of movement with a lovely gait. RBD

2nd: 2390 SELLWOOD, Mrs C & SELLWOOD, Mr D Jack di Monterrico

Upstanding 4 year old chestnut roan, who has a pleasing outline on the stack. Liked his body proportions and strength all through. Nicely balanced masculine head, divergent planes, depth to the flews, not quite the chiselling of winner, kind oval eye. Strong and muscular neck, correct topline, chest reaching to the elbow, good oval boned limbs. Had a lovely flow on the move in profile, just not quite as clean in his front action

Class 1006 OD (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 2379 GOODE, Mrs K Sh Ch SHCH Owlspoint King of Trouble at Brackenval

5 year old white & orange dog, he is like a fine wine, mature and full bodied. He is a stallion of a dog, noble and proud in stature. Looking a picture on the stack, with a square outline, lovely substance and a regal baring. Classic head shape, lovely divergent planes, deep in flew, long and lean throughout. Strong neck leading to his well defined withers, deep brisket, and well filled forechest. Holding a correct topline both stood and on the move. Strong and muscular hindquarters. Moves with a beautiful gait, showing extension and drive whilst holding his outline – BD & BOB

2nd: 2392 SLADDEN, MR I EBANO DELL'OLTRESAVIO AT CANEMAMANS (IMP ITA)

Lovely chestnut roan dog coming up 3 years of age. One I have admired previously, but today did not seem on his ‘A game’. Slightly smaller in stature than winner, but no less masculine and powerful in his appearance. He is well proportioned in his profile, with good balance and body ratios. Super head, loved the shape and leanness, beautifully chiselled, showing the divergent planes, deep flew but not overdone and such a kind oval eye. Powerful neck, holding a good topline, good depth to brisket and well bone limbs, a little down in his pasterns today. Strength through the body and muscular hindquarters. Lovely profile movement, just a little untidy in front.

1st: 2372 COGHLAN, Miss L Braccorion's Va Voom

Impressive puppy only 7 months old, this chestnut roan is such a sweet babe. So very raw, but so much to admire. Loved her spirit and zest of life. As you would expect there is much to mature, needing a little more width in front and to tighten up on the move, but that said, what a lovely shape she holds when stood, it is all there. Liked her body proportions, already gives the impression of strength. She has the desired divergent head planes, slight stop and visible median line, and a lovely spongy nose. Showing good depth as it is down to the elbow and fill in of forechest. Holding a good topline, and gentle underline and slight skirt. Nicely angulated fore and aft. A good ground covering action – BPB & BPIB

2nd: 2380 HAMLYN, Miss D Bushwacker Daisy Duke of Amestorah

11 month old orange roan bitch. At the in-between stage at the moment as she has gone up on the leg a little. Still showing a nice square outline, but just needing to fill her frame. Liked her head piece very feminine, lovely and lean all through, divergent planes, well chiselled, kind toning oval eye, all giving the gentlest of expressions. Good strength to her neck, a little more open in her angulation than winner. Good depth to the ribcage and spring of rib, muscular hindquarters. Like the winner still needing to tighten up on the move, but a nice stride in profile

Class 1008 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 2387 LEWIS, Mrs R D Elfrindew One Love

Much to like about this 16 month old orange roan bitch. Thought her to be very balanced and showing the desired body proportions. She has a feminine head shape, good proportions of backskull to foreface, lean, depth to the flews, eyes toning well with the coat colour, would like slightly tighter eye rims. Good strength to the neck, lovely depth and fill in of forechest. Strong oval bone. Well developed body, and ribbing. Liked the width and angulation of her rear. She moves with precise and correct footfalls. Just not showing herself off to full advantage, and not quite the muscle tone of winner in YB, but like her very much.

Class 1009 YB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 2369 ANGUS, Mrs L Braccorion's Ruddy Gorgeous

Very smart orange roan bitch coming up 2 years of age. Thought she had lovely body lines and presents a pleasing outline on the stack. Liked her square and balanced profile. She is solid and has strength yet retains her femininity. Lean, long and narrow head piece, with divergent planes, lovely roman nose ending with large spongy nostrils. Strong muscular neck leading to well defined withers, with the slight fall and rise to the topline. Lovely depth and spring to the ribcage, short coupled, strong over the loin. Unexaggerated symmetry in her angulation. Shown in muscular condition. Moved out purposefully and with drive. She possessed that elusive sparkle in the challenge to take BB & BOS

1st: 2371 CAWLEY, Miss B Bushwacker Allegra at Marlablue

2 year old chestnut roan bitch, liked her overall substance she has lovely oval bone and well developed though the body. Would like a little more leg length to give the square outline. She has a pleasing head, with good divergent planes, nicely chiselled under the eyes, lean and narrow, eye colour toning with coat. Strong neck, lovely depth and standing on well boned limbs with tight feet. Well developed through the body, super hindquarters, with width of thigh and sweep of stifle. Her hindquarters showed lovely drive on the move, just a little untidy in front today

Class 1011 LB (5 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 2384 JACKSON, Mrs N Polcevera's Evangelina

Shapely 4 year old white & orange bitch. Liked her overall femininity, shape and balance. Would like a fraction more bone to finish the picture. She has the most appealing head, proportionate with divergent planes, gentle stop and median line, slight roman nose, and those lovely toning oval eyes to give a kind and gentle expression. Strong muscular neck, depth to the chest, well sprung ribs which are carried well back. Holding the correct topline both stood and on the move. Well angulated hindquarters. But it is on the move she came into her own, lovely head carriage and holding her outline whilst showing good extension and drive - RBB

2nd: 2382 HARRISON, Mrs K & HARRISON, Mr M Owlspoint Angel of Trouble

Feminine 3 year old chestnut roan bitch, from a slightly smaller mould than winner. Liked her substance all through with lovely bone. Her outline when stood is slightly off square. She has a lovely head piece, lean and chiselled, balanced backskull to foreface, depth to the flews, well placed ears, and those dark oval eyes. Strong neck, deep in brisket and nicely filled in forechest. Gentle underline. No quite the rear angulation of winner, but shown is super muscletone. Moving out with drive

1st: 2385 JACKSON, Mrs N Polcevera's Bruma

3 year old white & orange bitch, who cuts a pleasing shape when stood. She gives the impression of being square in outline, with correct amount of strength and bone and retaining her femininity. Lean and long head with correct planes, deep in flew, well defined median line, clean oval eye giving a gentle expression. Well developed through the body, with good ribbing and depth. Showing the slight fall and rise to the topline. Well bent stifles. Liked her movement in profile, but a little wide and untidy behind
