My thanks to the committee of the DC&SWBS for inviting me to judge their Championship Show, postponed from May this year but most exhibitors stuck with the change of date. I had a lovely day and was very happy with my main winners. It was a shame there were some absentees but it made for a timely finish. The external caterer was excellent and the wraps are to be recommended!

1 Hunt & Ford Bondlea Woodlark. This is a very raw puppy who was sympathetically handled to show his reach and drive. He has a well arched neck leading down to well angulated shoulders and moves out well in front. He is well angulated behind and has well let down hocks. I will be interested to see how he matures. 1 Tofts’ Jarrowley Tolpuddle who like the other exhibit in this class played up his owner and did his best to hide his attributes. He has a pleasing head and soft expression, framed by very good leathers, long neck and good round bone and tight feet. He moved parallel both ways when he settled and showed off his attributes well when free stood. He has well muscled thighs which he used well, I preferred his hind movement to 2 on the day.
2 Warner’s Barrvale Hunter at Awreridge another naughty youngster but did settle to show himself on the move. He has a soft expression, good bone and shoulders and is well angulated. He has good quarters and drive in profile, holding his topline. Moving a bit close behind today compared to 1.

1 Hunt & Ford’s Bondlea Woodlark
GD (3,1abs)
1 Mitchell & Wright’s Huntshill Up To Trouble. He has a pleasing head with excellent pigment and correct eye colour and shape. He held his topline well on the move on legs with good round bone leading to tight feet He is well ribbed back, short backed and in excellent condition.
2 Murphy’s Rhosyndu Born To Run out of a larger mould but looks as if he could work all day, being in super fit condition. He has a soft expression and good pigment. He has good shoulders and although longer cast is well ribbed back. He has a correct laid back shoulder and moved in tune with his handler
PGD (1)
1 Murphy’s Black Royal at Rhosyndu, I see sire to 2nd in Graduate and has the same soft expression, with a head of correct proportions and low set leathers. A credit to his owner shown in fit condition with a gleaming coat. He moved out parallel both ways and has a good rib cage and well angulated shoulders.

1 Taylors’ Deaconfield Kingcraft-what a smart well proportioned beagle this is-makes a super picture shown free standing, giving the outline of a compact beagle with quality and type, amiable and alert. A head with slight dome and correct stop and mild appealing expression. He is well angulated, balanced fore and aft and moved out parallel both ways holding a level, short backed top line. Pleased to award him the RCC.
2 Caple’s Morsefield Mudlark out of a larger mould and you need to get your hands on him to appreciate his qualities. He has a good fore-chest and is well ribbed back, angulation is balanced in profile and he is shown in excellent condition with a correct weatherproof coat. Good round bone and straight forelegs and hocks.
3 Henningson-Dundas’s Julemark Luther
OD (4,1abs)
1 Craig’s Davricard Jacob (AI) what a super dog this is, so typy and full of quality. I was drawn in first by his head and mild appealing expression. A head which framed by low set leathers I would be pleased to look at every morning, leading to a neck with a gentle arch and correctly laid back shoulders. He is well ribbed back and yet short backed with a level topline, and used his well muscled hind quarters to drive around the ring and up and down parallel both ways. He is a true example of a beagle and fits the standard so well. Delighted to go over him and award him the CC and BIS.
2 Chapman’s Gemark Eyas-a longer cast dog who held his topline well on the move. He does have a correct long rib cage lacking in some and I am sure could work all day. He is of good width between his front legs and well knuckled feet. His head is correctly proportioned and he has good flews.
3 Mitchell & Wright’s Huntshill Tornado JW ShCM

SVetD (1)
1 Phillips & Keyte Lanesend Segenhoe JW ShCM-very merry and enthusiastic on the move. He is a lovely size and well balanced, and in good condition holding his topline well as he moved around the ring. A soft appealing expression and well arched neck, showing no coarseness with age or loss of fitness. Lovely to see him enjoying his day and pleased to award him BVD and BVIS
SVintD (1)
1 McBain & Stevens Bondlea Layman VW-this old chap was enjoying his day and moved out with great activity-a real merry hound. He has a soft appealing expression not at all changed by a few grey hairs and is in super condition-well muscled for his age. He is longer cast but moved out well in profile.
MPB (4,2abs)
1 Craig’s Davricard Marcia- a pretty head and expression, framed by low set leathers. She has a good forechest and is well angulated with super quarters. She has good bone and feet and moves well in profile. BPB and maintained her settled profile movement later to gain BPIS.
2 Kimber’s Coachbarn Cresta-shown free standing and very attentive to her handler. She is very raw at the moment but should fill out with time. She moved well with her owner and was presented in good coat and condition, good bone and feet, good pigment and eye colour to give a soft expression.

YB (3,1abs)
1 Arden’s Annavah Star Above Madika-very smart in profile and moved with great precision as she went round, presenting a very good topline. She has a pretty head, reachy neck leading to good shoulders, well ribbed back and is well angulated behind.
2 Richmond’s Canowindra Kiara-very fidgety and challenged her handler to get the best out of her. A nice type of bitch and worth persevering with as she has lots of qualities to show off. She has a good neck and shoulder and very good quarters with great angulation.
NB (2)
1 Chapman’s Gemark Enya, a laid back beagle with a head which is well proportioned, and correct with low set leathers. Well laid back shoulder and good bone and feet. She is short backed and sympathetically handled to move correctly both ways.
2 Kimber’s Coachbarn Cresta
GB (5,1abs)
1 Mitchell & Wright’s Huntshill Usual Suspect-presents a good profile in movement and on the stack. Correct head, slight arch to the neck, shoulders good, well ribbed back and balanced.
2 Adey & Nash’s Timamso Suraya at Rubesbay-I was drawn by her very sound easy movement in profile. I liked her head and expression, good leathers and nice quarters. She moved very well behind and with a couple of pounds off would show herself even more-do keep showing her.
3 Chapman’s Gemark Ember
PGB (10,2abs)
1 Deans’ Gempeni Cornflower-a very pretty girl with low set leathers framing her head. Lovely reachy neck, leading to well laid shoulders, nice arched feet and correct topline and tail set. Excellent hind angulation which she used to move out parallel both ways today. Definitely considered for top honours and I shall watch her future with interest as I am sure she will be there soon.
2 Hunt, Norris, Carmichael & Starbrook’s Shercroft Liberty-a pretty head and soft expression, slight dome to skull and good topline to correct tail set. Very good quarters and second thigh used to effect, and well handled to show her accurate movement both ways.
3 Henningson-Dundas’ Julemark Lolita
LB (11,4abs)
1 Tanner’s Felinoak My Delilah-this young beagle caught my eye as soon as she walked in the class. As they did their first round she moved out well and continued to show herself during her individual piece. Lovely head and expression, correct arch of neck with well laid back shoulders and particularly well arched feet. A little longer cast than some but she held her topline on the move and used her well angulated quarters to good effect to moved around the ring. Unfortunately in the challenge something unsettled her and she was very closely pipped to get the RCC. On a different day I feel she will take the top honours.
2 Craig’s Davricard Saffron a smaller mould and presents a balanced outline as she moves around the ring. Good quarters and holds her topline on the move. Correct round bone, short backed and hocks well let down. Shown in fit condition.
3 Brown’s Raimex Reed Bunting
OB (7,1abs)
1 Craig’s Ch Bayard Glory Bee-a very pretty well balanced head, mild appealing expression and correct pigment framed by excellent leathers. She is short all through but balanced and in this class used her super quarters to drive out parallel both ways. She has a very correct topline and tail set and presents excellent breed type and quality. In the Challenge she stood out as the most settled and accurate on the move and well deserving of the CC and BOS against the dog.
2 Davies’ Barrvale Grace-last time I judged she won BP and she has matured to a very typy bitch. She has a soft appealing expression, good flews, very good pigment and carried her topline well on the move. Very good well angulated quarters, well let down hocks, longer cast than 1 but well ribbed back.
3 Havard’s Annavah Lady Gaga
SBB (0)
SVetB (4)
1 Mcbain & Stevens Redcap Bella Sorella JW ShCM VW-in great coat and moved out with ease on the mat. She is longer cast than the Vintage winner, long reachy neck and good shoulders, but covers the ground well as she is still well muscled and fit.
2 Briown’s Ch Raimex Brittany JW-close up to 1. Lovely soft expression, moved out accurately and held herself well on the move with a lovely profile movement. She is still carrying good muscle, perfect level topline and doesn’t look her age. She was a little naughty for her handler and I suspect looking for sausages!
3 Dean’s Gempeni Flower Girl JW ShCM
SvintB (4,1W)
Three lovely older ladies, all still a credit to their owners!
1 Hunt & Norris Shercroft Duchess JW-short backed and still moving well for her age. Shown in good condition, well arched neck to well laid back shoulders. Enjoying her day out and played her handler up like a youngster, moved out with a little more reach than 2 today
2 Brown’s Raimex Rowanberry JW-very close up to 1 with a super soft expression and moved out well, lovely condition and also well laid back shoudlers as the class winner.
3 Hargrave’s Valsacre Echo JW
