Beagle

Judge - Emily Thornton

Firstly, may I say a huge thank you to those exhibitors who wore see-through lip reading masks

for me. I was hugely touched and it really made my day so much easier and relaxing - Beagles

people are truly the best!

MPD (2 1ab)

1st - Coates’ Gladstyle Magic Moment

6 month smart tri dog with a nice head with low set leathers and a compact body. Tidy feet and

good bone. Still needs to firm up a little on the movement but very raw at the moment.

PD (3 2abs)

1st - Hardisty’s Blunderhall Live Wire (BPD)

A smart dark tri dog with a lovely masculine head and well defined stop. Another compact body

with level topline, nice hindquarters and good set of tail. Awarded him BPD.

JD (2 0ab)

1st - Bridgeman & Logue’s Truewin Father To Son At Kingswin (IT IMP)

This 14 month old male was more balanced and had more substance than 2. Well rounded rib

cage and elbows tucked in. The head is slightly too wide for me but with correct set of ears and

well arched neck. Excellent coat and tidy feet.

2nd - Simkin’s Simeldaka Senglea Squire

Lighter in substance than 1, nice masculine head with nice expression and good reach of neck.

Good coat. I just would prefer more substance and for the topline to be more level when on the

move. Still has some maturing to do so will watch with interest.

YD (1 0ab)

1st - Simkin’s Simeldaka Senglea Squire

GD (2 0ab)

1st - Fraser’s Wyvisview Pinocchio

A very smart tri dog with masculine head and dark pigmentation. He really stood out on his own

with the correct level topline and excellent set of tail. Very good bone throughout and moved

extremely well in every direction.

2nd - Whitton & Edge’s Jalhar The Wonder Of You

A nice tri dog in good condition. Moved OK, just not holding his topline level on the move and I

would prefer him to move with more purpose. Strong neck leading into a good shoulder

placement. Good bone throughout.

PGD (5 0ab)

1st - Laughton’s Brimbleway Saving Grace (RDCC)

This lovely dog caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. Beautiful masculine head, with

the desired soft appealing expression. Gorgeous body type with straight topline and deep chest

coming well below the elbows. Great hindquarters with muscular thighs and firm hocks. Moved

soundly, showing plenty of reach and drive. He pushed hard today for the top honours. Well

deserved RDCC.

2nd - Murden’s Rowsprings Jackson

Longer in body than 1, moved well but did not match the reach and drive of 1. Good level topline

and correct set of tail. Pleasing head with defined stop and ears hanging gracefully.

3rd - Kingsland’s Dapperlee A Xmas Berry At Escalade (IMP CHE)

LD (5 2ab)

1st Jones’ Newlin Preston To Clairdale JW (DCC & BOB)

I have judged this extremely lovely tri male before and I am pleased to see that he has matured

beautifully and is in such fantastic condition. Moves soundly with reach and drive. A well

balanced hound with a masculine head and very neat feet. It was very easy for me to give him

his well deserved DCC and BOB. I watched him in the group and he really did look the picture.

Well done.

2nd - Edge & James-Dow’s Fallowfield Xavior Of Jalhar JW

Another nice dog who has matured well. A compact body with a long arched neck and nice

deep chest. Lovely head with soft expression and good bone.

3rd - Caple’s Morsefield Mudlark

OD (8 1ab)

1st - Kingsland & Stevens’ Redcap The Patriot

1 and 2 were the best movers in this class. Lovely T/W male with a masculine head and a lovely

length of neck, leading into strong topline which he held while on move. Moved flowingly with

reach and drive. Considered for one of the top honours however I felt he has lost that spark in

the challenge.

2nd - Havard’s Ch. Annavah Felix

A very smart tri boy who moved well with reach and drive. Nice level topline and correct set of

tail. Good head with defined stop and ears hanging gracefully. Lovely hindquarters with well

bent stifles, however I felt that 1 was in better coat today.

3rd - Fraser’s Wyvisview Pinocchio

VD (2 0ab)

1st - Goldberg’s Ch. Molesend Kaftan JW ShCM

I’ve enjoyed judging this class as both dogs moved so well around the ring with such purpose

and determination. This 9 year old faded T/W mottle male is still in such a fantastic condition,

lovely head with such a sweet expression and low set ears. Nice neck showing a slight arch and

ribs well sprung.

2nd - McBain & Stevens’ Bondlea Layman JW

A 9 year old tri male with masculine head and lovely strong neck. Nice topline which was held

while he moved around the ring. Strong hindquarters with well muscled second thighs.

SBD (1 1ab)

MPB (2 0ab)

1st - Lennard’s Butterow Token

A lovely 7 month old broken tri bitch with nice head and good set of ears. Good forequarters

with long neck and deep chest with elbows tucked in. Moved well.

2nd - Whitton’s Haggatty Artemis

Apparently today was this extremely raw 6 month old’s first show but I thought she was well

behaved and calmly. She has an OK head with soft expression and compact body with neat

feet.

PB (8 3abs)

1st - Havard’s Annavah Buttercup - BCC & BP

A beautiful 11 month old T/W puppy bitch with a lot to like. Her head is just my cup of tea - a

lovely head shape and such an appealing expression. Fantastic length of neck leading into deep

chest with elbows tucked in. Lovely hindquarters with hock well let down. Moved extremely well

with reach, drive and purpose. Good tail set which she carries well. Well deserved BCC. Also,

pleased to see her perform extremely well in the puppy group where she was awarded PG3.

BCC and BP.

2nd - Findlay’s Serenaker Miss Marple

Very different type to 1. A tri colour bitch with very nice feminine head with soft expression.

Good bone and well placed shoulders and good tailset which she carried well while on the

move.

3rd - Edge & James-Dow’s Jalhar Crowning Glory

JB (3 0ab)

1st - Arden’s Annavah Star Above Madika

This lovely young bitch moved so soundly and looked as though she could go on all day, which

is how a Beagle should be. Very feminine head with appealing expression and good length of

neck. Lovely hindquarters which were well used for drive on the move.

2nd - Firth’s Nictoney Vision

A T/W bitch, slightly longer cast than 1 and was little unsettled on the movement at the

beginning, however she has relaxed a little, she showed nice movement. Nice head with soft

expression and good bone.

3rd - Binks’ Bayard Ruths Back Hone

YB (4 0ab)

1st - Arden’s Annavah Star Above Madika

2nd - Fraser’s Wyvisview Porcelain

Tri colour bitch with nice body shape and good substance. Nice deep fore-chest with elbow well

tucked in. Good level topline which was held well on the movement. Nice set of tail.

3rd - Findlay’s Rhiconich Betty Botter

GB (8 0ab)

1st - Firth’s Nictoney Vanquish

This tri colour bitch caught my eye when moving - such sound movement, looking as though

she could go all day. Nice head shape with correct set of ears. Superb forequarters with deep

chest and ribs well sprung. Strong topline and well bent stifles. I was pleased to award her

RCC.

2nd - Lennard’s Butterow Skylark

Lovely t/w mottle bitch - another with superb movement, like she could go on for hours. Head

slightly wider than 1 but lovely expression. Coat in very good condition and neat feet.

3rd - Arden’s Annavah Star Above Madika

PGB (6 1ab)

1st - Firth’s Nictoney Vanquish

2nd - Precey & Bolan’s Detrick Audacity

A nice broken tri bitch, shorter in body than 1. Nice shape of head, free from wrinkle with sweet

expression. Nice length of neck leading into deep chest and good bone. Moved well.

3rd - Banks & Bootes’ Forgebanks Raindrop

LB (7 4abs)

1st - Deans’ Gempeni Cornflower

Another superb bitch who moved so well, showing that she could go on all day. Nice feminine

head with appealing expression and well defined stop. Lovely length of neck leading into deep

chest and level topline which was held well on the movement.

2nd - Hills’ Donay Faith

Slightly shorter cast than 1. Nice shape of head, free from wrinkle with correct dark eyes and

lips well flewed. Coat in very good condition and neat feet. Well handled.

3rd - Jones’ Clairdale Evelyn

OB (10 2abs)

1st - Havard’s Annavah Lady Gaga

Smart and compact girl with good forequarters, allowing her to move true from all angles. Strong

level topline which was held very well on the movement. Attractive head, however I would have

preferred it to be a tad more feminine. Coat in good condition.

2nd - Goldberg’s Molesend Tranquil JW

Longer cast than 1 but I liked the overall shape of this bitch. Nice arched neck and lovely bend

of stifles and hocks well let down. I’m sure that I’ve said this before, but lovely bum! Very close

to 1 and I'm sure that they could swap places another time - I just felt that 1 moved more

soundly and held her topline better today.

3rd - Gempeni Cornflower

VB (2 0ab)

1st - McBain & Stevens’ Redcap Bella Sorella JW ShCM

I loved watching this bitch as she was so animated and kept looking for sausages! Her head is

in correct proportion for shape and length with sweet expression. Great bend of stifle and hocks

well let down. Very neat feet and in excellent condition overall.

2nd - Leader’s Rosrodens Aphrodite

I also loved watching this very sweet bitch who looked like she was enjoying her day (and

looking for sausages too!). Lovely long neck into level topline. Moved well.
