Chinese Crested Dogs – Scottish Kennel Club October Show 2021

My first time awarding CCs in this delightful breed, thank you to the exhibitors for their entries and showmanship on the day. Overall I found the dogs to have good temperaments and were in good condition, I found many very good movers, filling my expectations for this graceful and elegant breed. Heads were quite difficult to judge with a very big variation in type and deviation from the standard.

Puppy Dog

1st: Hampson’s Zerachiel Soul Survivor

Well angulated and balanced overall, moved reasonably well when settled. Level back and high set tail.

Junior Dog

1st: Moyes & Hunter’s Joyway's I'm A Star At Bryelis (Imp Fin)

Correct almond shaped eyes and low set ears, moved well coming and going, high set tail.

Postgraduate Dog

1st: Moyes & Hunter’s G Bryelis's Masterpiece

Dark eye, low set ears with sloping and gracefully long neck. Well angulated hindquarters and level back. Moved very well in profile with elegant and graceful action, carrying his tail correctly.

Limit Dog

1st: Frame’s Elfallons Little Dragon

Sound, well balanced and in very good condition. Liked his size and overall shape, which fit my expectations for the breed. Dark eye and low set ears with long and graceful neck. Moved gracefully with good reach and strong drive from well angulated hindquarters.

2nd: Hampson’s Zerachiel Mr Majestic

Balanced with good overall outline, level back, and well angulated hindquarters. Moved well.

3rd: Reilly’s Clanest Ring Commander

Open Dog

1st: Crow’s Ch Estillinis Silver Surfer At Casacavallo JW. DCC& BOB

A truly stunning mover, could not take my eyes off him as he filled the ring with his elegant movement, plenty of reach and very strong drive from his well angulated and muscled hindquarters and high set tail. He is in terrific condition, is balanced and correct for size and shape, good depth of chest and length of body. A long and graceful neck means he carries his head with style.

2nd: Reilly’s Baojin Secret Agent

Dark, almond shaped eye with low set ears and long neck leading to well laid shoulders. Moved well when coming and going.

3rd: Hampson’s Zerachiel Mr Majestic

Veteran Dog

1st: Crow’s Ch Just Kidding Of Angel's Legacy At Casacavallo JW. RDCC

Another terrific mover from this kennel, watching him and his kennel mate move around the ring during the challenge was a pleasure. He’s also correct for size and overall balance, carried himself with style and grace. Well angulated quarters, level topline, high set tail that he carries correctly.

Good Citizen Dog

1st: Hampson’s Zerachiel Soul Survivor

Puppy Bitch

1st: Dodd’s Zerachiel Game Changer

Dark and almond shaped eyes, ears too high set. Correct for size. Moved well enough when settled.

Junior Bitch

1st: Moyes & Hunter’s Bryelis Picture Perfect TAF

Nicely balanced overall and correct for size. Dark, almond shaped eye and low set ears, sound and well angulated with level topline and high set tail. Moved ok, but would have preferred more drive.

2nd: O'Sullivan’s Energy Di Hip-Hop Queen

Was close up to the winner for type, but her topline was not as good. Liked her dark eye and correctly almond shaped eye, long nack and well laid shoulders.

3rd: Bowers’ Bryelis I'm On My Way

Postgraduate Bitch

1st: Routledge & Mcgowan’s Incantodelmondo Double Ice Cream Del Pufflepaws

Playing up for her owner but she is lovely mover when she settles, graceful and elegant with plenty of drive and good reach in front. Well angulated, level topline with high set and correctly carried tail.

2nd: Hampson’s Zerachiel Made To Measure

Balanced overall and correct for size. Dark eye and low set ears. Move well coming and going, preferred the topline of the winner.

Limit Bitch

1st: Moyes & Punton’s Bryelis Strike A Pose

An elegant and graceful mover with much to like about her. Correct for size and shape with a good outline, level topline and well-angulated hindquarters. Correctly set ears with long and graceful neck which added to her graceful outline.

2nd: Routledge & Mcgowan’s Pufflepaws Prosecco Please

A little unsettled today, but when she moved she came into her own some more demonstrating her soundness and well conditioned and angulated hindquarters. Liked her eye and expression.

Open Bitch

1st: Dixon, Merryweather & Fletcher’s Ynchreenoo Dream A Dream Avec Debrita. BCC

A little dynamite in the ring, she moves with style and gracefulness as she is well balanced and constructed, with good angulation and sufficiently conditioned hindquarters to give her plenty of drive. Level topline, reasonable depth to her chest with moderated tuck-up. Dark eyes and well set ears, with proportionately long neck that she uses to carry her head with a sense of superiority and style.

2nd: Moyes & Hunter’s Bryelis Private Dancer JW ShCM. RBCC

Another eyecatching bitch, powderpuff with correct veil coat and oozes style and elegance as she moves around the ring. Very balanced overall with good length to body and depth of chest, level topline and high set tail. Darkest of eyes with well set ears.

3rd: Botterill’s Pariansoez Ta Ta For Now

Special Beginners Bitch

1st: O'sullivan’s Energy Di Hip-Hop Queen

2nd: Bowers’ Bryelis I'm On My Way
