Scottish Kennel Club

Breed: Italian Greyhound

Scottish Kennel Club May 2021 – Italian Greyhounds

I must say from the outset that I thoroughly enjoyed this appointment, I found the overall quality very satisfying, with most dogs in great condition. There were some classes where I was placing dogs 3rd or 4th to whom I would happily award a CC on a different day. Thank you to the exhibitors.

Novice Dog

1st: Henshall’s Gemolli Midnight Magic

Well conditioned and sound. I liked his head, narrow skull with large and expressive eyes. Nicely arched neck leading to long and sloping shoulders. Correct topline though, rather too long in body which affected overall balance.

Limit Dog

1st: Willcock’s Newill Singing Wind.

This dog filled my eye as he first moved around the ring, he so well balanced, sound and fits very closely what I expect from a typical Italian Greyhound. He has lovely large and expressive eyes, and ears well placed back on his skull. Deep chest with a gentle arched topline and low set tail. In profile his movement was lovely, free with high stepping action and good drive from his hindlegs. I was very pleased to award him the CC.

2nd: Hajdas’ Piccolito Dragon Slayer. Moved well in profile with free and elegant action. Correct topline, with arch over the loin.

3rd: Powell’s Chrisford Rough Rider

Open Dog

1st: Lockie’s Ch Kimbildon The Earl Of Errol. Correct for size. Elegant and graceful with excellent outline. Long narrow skull with ears well set back and correct large and expressive eyes. Good length of rib and strong loin. Well-angulated and muscled hindquarters providing sufficient drive on the move. Presented in excellent condition. RDCC

2nd: Henley’s Ch Turigner Thunderbolt JW. This is a very special veteran, still in excellent condition. Graceful and elegant, he moved with free action in profile and straight action in front and strong drive from well muscled and angulated hindquarters. Typical head, flat skull with large and expressive eyes and correctly set ears.

3rd: Henshall’s Gemolli The Magician Jw

Veteran Dog

1st: Amsel, Mrs J Ch Florita Tavalino. Really loved his movement, free and elegant with very typical front action. He is elegant and graceful with an excellent outline. Liked his head, long narrow and flat skull with ears well set back and correct large and expressive eyes. Topline correct, nicely arched over the loin with low set tail.

Puppy Bitch

1st: Thrasivoulou & Browne’s Chrisford Rumour Has It With Skilaki. Long and flat skull, with large expressing eye, ears well set. Nicely arched neck leading to well laid shoulders. Straight front, deep chest and well angulated hindquarters.

2nd: Keay’s Sirahdis Silk Or Satin. Nice head and lovely, large and expressive eyes. Moved well in profile. Needs more depth to her chest, which will hopefully come as she matures.

3rd: Liptrott’s Miniwolf Royal Azure (Ax4)

Junior Bitch – two very worthy examples of the breed.

1st: Rutter & Wheeler’s Chrisford Chasin Pavements. This bitch is super-sound and well constructed, she is correct for size and overall shape, it was a pleasure to go over her. She has a long, narrow and flat skull with large and expressive eyes, nicely arched neck and correctly sloping shoulders, deep chest with slight and unexaggerated arch over the loin. She moved with a free and elegant action, high stepping with straight and parallel action in front and rear. Pleasure to award her CC & BOB.

2nd: Hayden-Smith’s Artmeis Summer Breeze At Birchwind. Another excellent example of the breed with much the same qualities, I preferred the length of muzzle of the winner.

Novice Bitch

1st: Knight’s Aelaro Aletheia. I liked her head which was of good length with large eyes and ears placed well back. On the move she was elegant with good high stepping action.

Postgraduate Bitch

1st: Langlands’ Kimbildon Blue Bonnets. I felt she was the best mover overall, particularly having straight and parallel action in front and rear and high stepping action in profile. Shapely and well angulated, with correct arch over the loin and well angulated and muscled hindquarters.

2nd: Hardie’s Rivertoy Red October. Quite oversize which counted against her in this class. She has a good outline with correct arched topline and low set tail. Moved reasonably well.

3rd: Palmer’s Rockiggy Sparks Will Fly

Limit Bitch

1st: Lister’s Revillo Grazioso. A very good quality bitch with ring presence. She moves well in front and rear and with true high stepping action. Correct head and skull with large expressive eyes and ears placed well back. She was in excellent muscular condition. Her topline is a little exaggerated for my preference.

2nd: Langlands’ Kimbildon Highland Fling JW. Stood she has and excellent outline, straight front and deep chest and well angulated hindquarters. She moves well, with parallel action in front and rear and correct high stepping action. Very appealing head and expression.

3rd: Knight’s, Mrs M Aelaro At Last

Open Bitch

1st: Lister’s Revillo Amorosso. I found her most typical of the breed in outline and she won this class on the merit of her excellent movement, balanced and elegant with true action in front and rear and high stepping in front without exaggeration. Deep chest with slightly arched back and low set tail. Lovely head and expression, flat skull with fine and narrow muzzle.

2nd: Henshall’s Gemolli Antique Tapestry JW. Quality bitch. She has a good overall shape and moves well in front and rear and with good propulsion from the rear. Correct head and skull with large expressive eyes and ears placed well back. She was in excellent muscular condition.

3rd: Palmer’s Rockiggy Brown Sugar

Veteran Bitch

1st: Henshall’s Ch Gemolli Joie De Vivre JW Sh.CM VW. Super quality veteran champion. She is elegant and feminine with correct and unexaggerated outline. She still moves elegance and freedom and good drive from hinsquarters. Long and narrow skull, slightly arched neck and deep chest with straight front.

Special Beginner Bitch

1st: Liptrott’s Miniwolf Royal Azure (Ax4). Moved well. Low set tail. Deep chest. Long and gracefully arched neck.

Good Citizen Bitch

1st: 4243 AMSEL’s Ch & Am Ch Artmeis Golden Oriole Of Regallust. Lovely bitch who has just what I am looking for in movement - sound, parallel action coming and going and unexaggerated free, elegant and high stepping action in profile. Correct topline with a slight arch over the loin that she maintained on the move. Long, narrow, flat skull with large, expressive round eyes and well placed rose ears.
