Border Union dog show Collie (Rough)

Delighted with the collie entry at BU, although quite surprised to find the dogs having the edge over the bitches in relation to most especially front angulation, shoulder placement, upper arm and front movement in general, notwithstanding all my main winners were all very pleasing.

Puppy - Dog: (1: 0abs)

1ST TIPPER’s TIGANLEA TWIST AND TURN ; Standing alone but a worthy winner, very pleasing head, correct bite, lovely flat skull and lean flat cheeks, well-shaped eye with good placement and a sweet expression, well used ears, very mature outlook & put in a very schooled performance for his age, well coated with a good body; nice spring of rib , standing on good straight front legs, neat feet, moved true if a little close both ways at the moment, should make an impressive dog when he is fully matured. BPB/BPIB

Graduate – Dog:(1: 0abs)

1ST Iley’s HUGO BOSS IN BLACK DELLA VERDE SCOZIA (IMP ITA); Pleasing Tri boy who was not happy today in the windy tent; Very nice body to go over, good loin, lovely depth of rib, well balanced, super rear angulation and well let down, moved with drive and true going away. Nice planes to his head, good length of foreface, although dark and well placed, eye is bit tighter than my ideal and would prefer softer expression. Well coated and presented with coat of true correct coarse texture, not showing to his best advantage today.

Postgraduate – Dog:(2: 1abs)

1ST Savage’s PEBLU GOLD REFLECTION AT SAVATAURUS JUN CH ; Quite a fine elegant sable, with a refined head. Lovely flat skull, nice dark well shaped eye, lovely soft kind expression. Lean body with good rib; shown in good coat. Nice boy but would have preferred a bit more substance & strength all over, especially in pasterns and hocks and stronger movement for higher honours.

Limit Dog:(6:1abs)

1ST Tipper’s TIGANLEA TURNING BLUE ; Very well-schooled, upstanding masculine blue boy of substance, well broken light silvery blue colour , presented in first class order .Dense coat, exceptionally well groomed ,little deeper in head than my ideal, correct bite , smooth cheeks, nice flat skull if a touch broad for me , but with a better length of head & foreface than 2/3; lovely depth of rib, good length of back, really well angulated behind , with good lay of shoulder , well balanced dog , moved out freely with purpose, not the elegance or refinement of my preferred CC winner, but a very nice sound dog worthy of his title which will no doubt arrive soon. RCC.

2ND McCann’s OAKLAND BLUE STYLE DU CLOS DE SEAWIND AT ZOLKHAN (IMP FRA) ;

A nice overall type & impressed by the very positive movement and showmanship of this blue boy , Very deep chested ,although shorter coupled, moved very true; being considerably darker in colour ,with a much deeper stop & head - preferred the type and overall balance of 1.

3RD Proctor’s WILMARANNA OUT OF THE BLUE FOR CATHBRI

Open – Dog:(9: 2abs)

1ST Geddes’ INGLEDENE MERCURY RISIN JW ; Super coloured Stylish blue boy sporting a correctly textured fitted jacket which doesn’t detract from his overall shape , good round bone-not overdone like many , good ratio of height : length of body, nice length of neck , good rib & loin, correct tail -well carried , giving a very pleasing overall picture of a well-balanced elegant refined collie not lacking in substance. Although no showing fool does enough to show his pleasing expression and that ears are correctly set. Lovely true once piece head of parallel planes, nice flat cheeks, good underjaw and length of foreface, correct bite. Well-muscled, well developed second thigh, correctly angulated back and fore and positive true mover with reach and drive. (if a touch narrow behind in the cold today) pleased to award him CC.

2ND Barron & Jenkins’ XCODE DELLA BUCCA DELLE FATE AT RANNALEROCH (IMP ITA) ; Superb lay of shoulder and lovely fore chest on this pleasing Tri boy, who was a delight to go over, a nice elegant dog with enough substance, very well balanced all over with a super length of neck & back, very appealing dog who unfortunately was not moved to advantage today, needs to be moved faster to do him justice ,and show off his charms. Very pleasing head of good planes and appealing type -has great potential if handled to advantage.

3RD Wray-Ramsden’s TAKHISIS DREAM WEAVER; Charming sable boy with a lovely head, a very pleasing sweet expression, such a great showman, very attentive and put in 100%, shorter bodied for me and not the reach in fore of 1 or 2 but a very nice dog.

Veteran – Dog:(2: 0abs)

1ST Rycraft’s KYNAN SILVERSHADOW AT RYDELLSKY; 8 yrs old blue merle boy, of good size, who moved well despite carrying rather too much weight, a shorter coupled deeper set type, but he showed well today. BVIB

2ND Savages’ SAVATAURUS'S ONLY THE LONELY VET CH CVW19; Impressive 12 1/2 yr old Tri

boy who must have been a lovely lad when he was younger, unfortunately had to give way to the younger competition today on movement as he has lost some strength behind. Lovely length of head of correct planes, and good length of back, presented in good coat, a tribute to his owner looking so well at such an age.

Junior – Bitch:(3: 0abs)

1ST Geddes’ INGLEDENE SNO ANGEL; Most elegant feminine blue of lovely clear well broken colour, fitted jacket, petite size, very refined throughout, well angulated, lovely reach of neck and moves well, nice level top line, lovely expression when she uses her ears, nice one-piece head; very neat girl. like to see her when fully mature .

2ND Harrison’s CAMBROGAN LADY OF LOCH'ABER AT CARIADHAF ; Sable girl of nice type, pleasing head and expression with lovely ears; Good front, but needs to settle in movement ; prefer the balance, top line and outline of 1

3RD Mains’ SCOTIABLUE BLACK NOLA

Novice – Bitch:(2: 0abs)

1ST Walker and Ritchie’s BELDONES JUST FOR FUN AT STARLENGA; Very immature exuberant 8 month sable puppy who needs time to settle and come into herself, more training and schooling. Very difficult to assess today. Has nice dark eye, good length of foreface, lovely, rounded muzzle, nice feminine outlook. Just needs more time.

2ND Clark-Kerr’s UFFSPRING UNIQUELY MAYD ;2 yr Tri girl of nice size and length, quite fine boned and not in the best of dresses today. Would benefit from more training and schooling, very fond of her tail and needs to tighten in front. Prefer head, expression & eye set of 1.

Graduate – Bitch:(2: 1abs)

1ST Clark-Kerr’s UFFSPRING UNIQUELY MAYD; More attentive and used ears better in this class.

Postgraduate – Bitch:(3: 0abs)

1ST Jones’ & Blackburn’s ERJON EVOLVING STAR; My find of the day! Very feminine sable of correct size, lovely top line -carried well on the move, good neck, nice spring of rib, lovely rear angulation, well let down, sound all round free mover with good drive and nice reach, good lay of shoulder, nice length of upper arm, fitted jacket, well presented and showed well. Good length of head, flat skull, round muzzle, good foreface and under jaw, correct bite, nice expression and well used ears to complete the picture.CC/BOB. Bit more attentive shower than my DCC today which won her BOB .

2ND Iley’s CALL ME DREAMER IN BLUE FOR ILEYDA DELLA VERDE SCOZIA JW (IMP ITA); Lovely clear blue girl shown in fine fettle, a lot to like in make, shape, balance and type- moved quite well but just not quite so fluid on the move as 1 today, a bit more stop than my ideal, but a lovely expression , neat well used ears ,nice foreface and cheeks, well presented and handled. So feminine. RCC

3RD Walker and Ritchie’s NELINKA DE REMEMBER OUR LOVE FOR STARLENGA (IMP FRA )

Limit – Bitch:(6: 2abs)

1ST Yule’s INGLEDENE NITE'N'GALE; Tri girl of good size and nice length of back, lovely arched neck, well angulated both fore and aft with particularly well laid shoulder, longer one-piece lean head with slight stop, was very unsettled and spooked in the windy conditions today, which led to a strained harsher expression than ideal, she won this class on movement and build alone.

2ND Mains’ SCOTIABLUE HOLLIE BERRIE; very small girl whose overall presence and balance was spoilt by far too much weight, and too heavy dense coat of overly woolly texture which masked her whole shape and outline. Rather deep in stop & head for me, not the expression of 3 but no denying strong positive movement both ways and better shoulder placement which won her this placing.

3RD Steven’s CAMBROGAN BLOWIN A HOOLIE

Open – Bitch:(10: 2abs)

1ST Tipper’s TIGANLEA TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE; 10 out of 10 for showmanship, Presence and performance from this girl, but just a bit more of her than my ideal , no denying a very striking shapely bitch which it would be difficult to overlook, good length to height ratio, and well balanced throughout. Heavily coated but well-groomed and presented. Nice dark eye of good shape bit more stop but fits the whole picture – well angulated back and front and moved out very well, a tough one to beat.

2ND Hawkins and Foy’s BELDONES ENABLE; Glamourous feminine light sable girl full of charm, very pleasing type, good size, with good length of neck, nice level top line ,well balanced head which handles very well, finer and bit more refined all through ,moved out strongly behind ,shown in good coat and beautifully presented -a close decision.
