East of England Championship Show - 8th July 2021

Keeshonds

Thank you to the Committee of East of England for inviting me to judge Keeshonds at this show. Considering it was a weekday and while Covid-19 is still causing issues, I was thrilled not to have any absentees from my 8 entries. I thank my Steward who kept things running very smoothly and was a pleasure to have working with me. It was a lovely day, one I enjoyed very much. I apologise to my BOB and BP winners for not being ablex to stay to watch the groups, something that I always enjoy doing.

PD (1/0) 1 Harris’s AMIKIRS LOVER BOY FOR WATCHKEES, 9 mth old in super coat with good texture and lovely clear silver colouring, well defined markings for one so young. Attractive head of good wedge shape. Super dark eye with alert expression and clear spectacles. Good length of neck which was well arched leading to level topline. Nice width of front with straight forelegs and good depth of chest. Well sprung ribs but a tad long in loin. Strong rear slightly angulated and straight when viewed from behind. Brisk movement with no exaggeration and was sound coming and going. Will be interested to see his progress. BP & RBD.

LD (2/0) 1 Rose’s ROSSVALE ENDEAVOUR TO ESORKEES, 2.5 yrs old with a super short, compact, outline. Masculine head, with correct wedge and defined stop. Good eye with required spectacles. Well set dark ears, of good shape. Well arched neck, leading to level topline. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Well spring ribs and nice short loin. Tail held correctly with good plume and nicely curled. Moved soundly on rear but was tending to move a little wide in front. 2 Harris’s KICHIGAI BOY IS BACK IN TOWN FOR WATCHKEES. 2.5 yrs and another with good silver colouring, but not as well-defined markings. Lovely head and expression with correct eye and ears. Good neck, level topline, slightly lower set tail but carried well with typical plume. Nice outline, but not quite as square in shape as my winner. Moved well, but a little narrow in front.

OD (2/0) 1 Hickson’s CH KICHIGAI'S ONLY THE LONLEY, 6 yrs old now fully matured. A dog I have admired before and today did not disappoint. Excellent size, super outline, correct coat. Just love his head and expression, good wedge shape, well defined stop and flat skull. Super eye and correct ears. Lovely arched neck with short compact body boasting a lovely level topline. Tail well set on but to be ultra-critical could be slightly better curled but has beautiful plume. Totally balanced in construction which shows in his brisk movement and typical side gait for the breed. Lovely straight front, and although sound on the rear could tend to move a little closer than I would prefer. Today, this dog was easily BD and BOB. 2 Pattison’s SERENAUBACH FULL OF WONDER. 3 yrs old of good colour with nice outline. Attractive head and expression with good ears which were set correctly. Not quite the well arched neck of my winner, but overall a good outline showing level topline leading to well set tail with tight curl. Good front of correct width but a little cow-hocked in the rear and moved a little close behind.

PB (1/0) 1 Gregory’s AMIKIRS LOVEALICIOUS. 9 mth bitch who was very pretty and out to enjoy herself today. Lovely colour with clear definition, correct head, eye, and ears and showing the trademark spectacles. Nice length of neck with enough arch. Balanced angulation front and rear, well sprung rib but longer cast which showed in her outline. Tail was well curled, but slightly lower set causing her tail to drop more easily.

JB (2/0) 1 Pattison’s EASTKEES DIAMOND IN THE DUST, 16 mth old at the typical Junior stage. What hit me with this bitch was her lovely square outline and correct length of leg. Super head and expression with clearly defined spectacles. Good eye, ears appear a little large but not having the coat around them at present will make them look that way. Nice quality jacket with good colour and well defined markings despite not being in full coat. Compact body with well sprung rib and level topline. A lovely square outline, not often seen in bitches. Lovely balance on the move with correct angulation aiding in her effortless side gait. Did tend to pace at times, but when the handler moved her at the correct speed she moved beautifully. Straight front with correct width, rear could move close at times but should settle with more training. Was pleased to award her BB. 2 Gregory’s AMIKIRS LOVEALICIOUS.

LB (1/0) 1 Hickson’s KICHIGAI'S UPTOWN GIRL JW. 2.5 yrs. A lovely bitch that I have placed highly previously. Correct wedge head with adequate stop and well set, dark ears of good shape. Nice alert expression with dark eyes which are obliquely set. Enough neck leading to level topline ending with well set tail, tightly curled and profuse plume. Balanced angulation, well sprung ribs, good length of back, just would prefer a little more length of leg to create a squarer outline. Coat of super colour and texture but a little too abundant at this time. Moved well with straight front and rear although a tad erratic at times being very eager to move around the ring. In the challenge just preferred the closer coat and squareness of the Junior winner. RBB.
