RICHMOND CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW - 2021

NORWEGIAN BUHUND

Judge: Mrs Camille Lambert (Sturtmoor)

First of all, thank you to my stewards for being jovial and keeping the ring running efficiently, and to the Society for inviting me to judge my breed at their show. Breed type has certainly improved hugely, there was not a dog present today that did not have excellent type. There were a couple of bite’s that were dubious, but not obviously incorrect, it’s something breeders may want to be aware of as mouth problems in a line are difficult to eradicate. Although my entry was small, there was certainly quality in abundance Thank you all for entering.

PD (1 ) 1st: 1211 IRVINE, Mrs K A & IRVINE, Mstr A & GILLIES, Mstr C Tapui Let's Blaze – 7 mths, shaded wheaten. Very attractive puppy with much to offer. Excellent wedge head and keen expression with super dark eye. Level topline leading to well set and double curled tail set centrally up the back. Good spring of rib, with short loin. Moderately angulated front and rear, lovely overall proportions. Today was not moving as well, but I’m sure will improve as he develops. Will be interested to watch this youngster growing up. BP.

YD (1) 1st: 1208 CORIN, Ms M & CAMM, Mr A Kligenthal Almuric – Almost 2-year-old, wheaten. Really liked this boy, slightly different look to most of the entry but a type I really appreciate, which I understood when I saw who his sire is! Loved his head and expression, dark eye and well-set ears. Moderate neck with good layback of shoulder and level topline, correct tail which was well curled. Good depth of chest with slight rise in underline. Stood on strong straight legs with moderate angulation which showed in his balanced movement. RDCC.

OD (3) 1st: 1212 KENT, Mrs N & COBB, Mrs J & COBB, Mr M Ch Koromandel Best Served Cold at Knytshall – It’s no secret that I have liked this dog since I first saw him as a puppy at his first show, he did not disappoint. 4 yr old, shaded wheaten. He has super type, beautiful wedge head with correct expression. Good neck and shoulders with level topline and well ribbed back to short loin. Super tail with double curl and highly set. Moderately angulated, super substance being strong but still elegant. Moved soundly coming and going with balanced side gait. Not showing his best today, I think he wanted his mum! Still very pleased to award him the DCC & BOB.

2nd: 1209 DEUCHAR, Mrs M J & DEUCHAR, Miss D Ch RIKARLO GABLE JW – 3 yr old shaded wheaten. The son of my CC winner and much to like having similar qualities. Another one with good head and expression, good neck and level topline with super double curled to his tail which was well set. Correct spring of rib and short loin. A little more tuck up on this lad. Adequate bone. Would like a tad more angulation fore and aft. Lovely short back but would like a little less leg to balance him. Didn’t move at his best today.

LB (1) 1st: 1207 COBB, Mrs J & COBB, Mr M & KENT, Mrs N Knytshall Eloise – Almost 3 yr old black. I really liked this bitch, she had the best layback of shoulder today, and moved very soundly. Has a super wedge head, but eyes a little lighter. Lovely level topline, leading to a very slightly low set tail which had good curl. Nice spring of rib, with gentle rise in underline. Would prefer a little less length and she left her clothes at home, but what was present was of super texture. Would like to see here another day when looking at her best. Pushed hard for the RCC.

OB (3) 1st: 1210 IRVINE, Mrs K A Kimura's Vera with Tapui (IMP NOR) – 6 yr old wheaten. Lovely type on this bitch, super head, with correct wedge shape, nice dark eye and keen expression. Moderate neck with decent layback of shoulder. Level topline leading to correctly set tail with double curl. Good spring of rib and short loin giving a lovely square outline which is rare in bitches these days. Correct underline rising slightly. Would like a little more angulation but is very balanced which shows in her sound movement. Easily my BCC winner.

2nd: 1213 NORMAN, Mrs. M Ch ARNSCROFT DELILAH AT VEEKAY – 4 yr old pale shaded wheaten. Another of good type, with nice head and expression, alert ears correctly placed. Shorter neck due to lack of layback. Nice spring of rib, good underline but a little longer cast. Lovely set of tail with correct curl. Upright in front angulation with minimal upper arm, moderate angulation on rear. Moved soundly behind, good side gait but front could be better. Overall type, shape and condition won her the RBCC in a hard decision against the Limit winner.

3rd: 1206 COBB, Mrs J & COBB, Mr M & KENT, Mrs N Ch Trelowen Veryan To Knytshall RL1 – This bitch is incredible, for 12 yrs old to still be moving soundly at her age is a credit to the breed and her owner! Thank you for bringing her.
