Breed Championship Show

My sincere thanks to the officers and committee for their kind invitation to officiate at their seventh championship show.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable day and thank all exhibitors for their sportsmanlike attitude. The floor was not best suited to a powerful moving dog so I had to make some compromises. Overall the quality was good. However, I would like to make a small point. Nails. In many instances the nails were far too long and this totally ruins the shape of the foot, especially in a breed such as this.

My especial thanks to my brilliant stewards - Jack Gilder and Lauren Blunden for running the ring so efficiently.

Minor Puppy Dog (5, 3)

1st Towns. Caio De Cortelara. 7 months old. Excellent overall balance presenting a square outline when viewed in profile. Well made hindquarters with correct bend of stifle. Moved steadily. BPD & RBPIS.

2nd Jackson. Solwaypoint Portafino. Longer in body than one and somewhat rangier in build. Narrow head with lean cheeks and pronounced occiput. Good forehand construction. Excellent bone and feet. Well made hindquarters - longer in hock than winner. Good on the move.

Puppy Dog (3, 1)

1st Northey. Jakobstown One Fine Day. Good overall balance. Well shaped head of with correct skull to muzzle ratio and clean cheeks. Deep chest. Could have more forehand angulation. Well ribbed back. Correctly turned stifles. Moved very well.

Junior Dog (3,1)

Two super young dogs in this class.

1st Bowley. Gunsyn Ginspiration. 16 month old dog who had the edge when it came to finish and maturity. Excellent overall balance presenting square outline when viewed in profile. His head is classic Bracco. Of good length and narrowness with lean cheeks and pronounced occiput. Excellent chiselling beneath the eyes. His neck is strong and moderate length leading to excellent forehand construction and chest of good width and depth. Well sprung rib with strong short loin. Powerful hindquarters with short rear cannons. Excellent bone and feet. Moved on a good elastic stride. RCC.

2nd Sladden. Bushwacker Dangerous Dave at Canemamans. Another top quality youngster who had to give away a lot in age today. Excellent head shape - correct ratio of skull to muzzle. Strong, moderately short neck leading to correctly laid shoulder. Needs to develop more in chest but this will come as he matures. Well sprung rib. Strongly made, well muscled hindquarters. Excellent bone and feet with short nails. Moved well with drive.

Open Dog (6)

Very hard class to judge as there was so much variation in type however my top three were outstanding and definitely worth of a CC on another day.

1st Towns. Oh La La De Clos Des Petities Vignes. Powerful dog with excellent outline when viewed in profile. Skull and muzzle of correct proportions. Lean cheeks and pronounced occiput. Moderately short neck leading to correct topline which was maintained at all times standing and moving. Well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters. Excellent bone and feet. Powerful movement - especially good going away. Another in the final shake up.

2nd Sladden. Ebano Dell’o Tresavio at Canemamans (Imp ITA). Another top quality dog whom I like very much. Excellent outline. Scores in his head - it is dimensionally correct with lean cheeks and well chiselled beneath the eyes. Strong neck leading to well laid shoulder. Chest of correct depth and well ribbed back. Well muscled hindquarters. Not quite as accurate going away on the move as the winner but on another day could change places.

Champion Dog (3, 1)

1st Bell and Maddox. Sh Ch Owlspoint Master of Trouble. ShCM, SHCEx. Very smart dog with correct outline for the breed. 2nd Rose. Braccorions Wishes Come True for Piccorino. Loved this puppy but she was giving her handler a very hard time which made her difficult to assess. However she has a totally correct outline when viewed in profile. Scores in her head with lean cheeks and well chiselled beneath the eyes. Excellent forehand angulation. Well sprung rib and good topline. Correct hindquarters with good bone and feet. When settled she showed good movement.
