Driffield Championship Dog Show

Breed: Irish Wolfhound

Wolfhound - 2021 Driffield Championship Dog Show – Alex Paisey

My thanks to the committee of Driffield Championship Dog Show Society for this appointment. It was a huge honour for me to judge this marvelous breed today. The show was blessed with a warm blue sky, however its not great for these large hounds so I really appreciate the exhibitors cooperation with finding shade when not being judged. Thank you to my lovely two stewards who were ever so efficient.

Wolfhounds

Post Graduate Dog

1st & RBD: DAWSON, Mrs F & DAWSON, Mr G Hydebeck Dream Tyme of Graefyn – Nice dog of good substance and type. Pleasant head, in proportion. Good lay of shoulder with straight front, giving a good reach on the move. Good ribbing, deep, of good length and tuck up. Nice shape to his topline leading to a nicely put together rear driving him around the ring.

2nd: FOX, Mrs A Newdigate Marlon Brando (A.I) – This light coloured boy definitely ticked the commanding appearance with is height. However he was in proportion. Masculine head, with nicely shaped ears. Good neck and of length. Suitable substance, with a super deep chest, and of good length. Good topline and a nicely put together rear. Would have preferred a touch more width and a little more reach.

Lighter in colour, correct coat, and with plenty of substance to him without being heavy. Smart, strong head, and masculine. Good features and nicely shaped ears. Strong neck, in proportion leading to a well laid shoulder, giving good reach. Nice depth of chest, and of good length. Nice topline leading to well put together rear quarters. Well muscled and low set hocks. Drove round the ring with good reach and drive.

Good head, correct bite and in proportion finished with a nice ear shape. Strong neck leading to a suitable straight front. Nice shaped to his ribs. Strong loin and a well muscled rear. Felt 1st just had the edge in a few departments and moved better than him.

Good Citizen Dog

1st: LITTLEFAIR, Miss J Goldswift Phoenix Kiss – See Open Dog

Junior Bitch

1st & RBB: KEELING, Miss N J Floydian Mouse TAF – A finer bitch in type with plenty of growing left to do. Very pretty head, with femininity throughout. Dark in colour. Correct bite and a dark eye, and lovely ear shape. Good neck length leading to a nicely laid shoulder, providing good reach on the move. Still needing to grow and fill out but in proportion for age, in terms of ribbing. Nice shape to loin and low hocks.

Open Bitch

1st & BB: LITTLEFAIR, Miss J Goldswift Inyourdreams – A nice bitch of good type. Substance throughout and width too. Head of good proportions and nicely shaped ears. Good lay of shoulder, straight front and depth of chest. Good rib length and appropriate tuck up. Strong loin and suitably arched. A well made rear, with a good bend of stifle and low hocks. Nice to see her cover the ground well too.
