 Judges report of Wath, West Melton & District Canine Society open show 29/02/2020

Thank you to the committee for their invitation to judge the Terrier Group at this well organised show. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Manchester Terrier

O

1 Ferguson. Ch Felfree Rocket ShCM 7yr old dog who impressed me with his balanced free flowing movement. Good clean wedge shaped head with correct dark eyes. Fairly long neck flowed into well laid shoulders & correct angulation fore & aft. Firm top line with slight arch over loin. Stands on good legs & correctly shaped feet. Shown in gleaming condition with good black & tan markings. BOB. Also the winner of a good AV Veteran class, he was feeling the cold more in the group but still put in a good performance to take G3.

1 Thoburn. Northridge Galway Girl. 12 mth bitch who impressed for breed type being compact & short coupled. Her head is well balanced with medium width, well set ears & strong jaws. Moderate length of neck flowing cleanly into well laid shoulders. Well sprung ribs & depth of chest. Her coat though still to lighten completely was of good texture & length. Her movement was sound up & down & she had plenty of reach & drive on the move. BOB.

2 Thoburn. Northridge Me And Tennessee. 3yr old dog of good colour & condition. Good balanced masculine head well set on strong slightly arched neck. Firm topline & well set tail. Well ribbed & good angulation all through. Moved well when settled. Today I just preferred the movement of the bitch.

3 Gent & Lees. Flaxela My Secret Love At Sumirick.

1 Attwood & Stockley. Jackandfish Fuzzy Navel (IMP ITA) 8mth bitch who really was enjoying her day out. Feminine head with well set & carried ears. Good angulation all through, good feet & bone. She was well muscled with a good harsh coat. Easily spanned, she moved out well with a good stride length. BP PGp 3

1 Smith. Locheil Talk Of The Town. 2yr old dog of good breed type. Good head well set on strong clean neck. Slightly longer in body length than height at withers. He had a deep chest, well sprung ribs & was spannable. Firm level topline with well set & carried tail. Thick coat of good texture. He was sound up & down & moved with drive round the ring. BOB Gp4

2 Kay. Jackopeaks Bakewell Puddin. 2yr old bitch with a lovely feminine head & dark eyes with a keen expression. Level topline held on the move. Good spring of rib. Spannable. Moved out well when settled. RBOB

1 Baker & Baker. Tusiquevales Extraspecial To Pacolito (IMP ITA). Almost 8mth dog who is full of quality. Very good masculine wedge shaped head with shallow stop & well set ears & excellent bite. Good reach of neck leads to well laid shoulders & return of upper arm placing his forelegs under his withers. Easily spanned with a deep short loin. Level topline & well set tail. Uses his well muscled frame to good effect on the move. BP RBOB PG2

2 Hobson. Partridgdale Bluebell. 9mth bitch. Feminine head good reach of neck. Good lay of shoulder & straight fore legs. Decent angulation all through with good width of second thigh. Moved well.

1 Knight. Just Top Russell To Pacolito (IMP BLR) Almost 2yr old dog of good type. Masculine wedge shaped head well set on neck of good length. Well angulated fore & aft with a good width of second thigh. Well proportioned body with a strong loin. Spannable. Moved well to take BOB.

2 Hobson. Alncroft Isle See 4yr old bitch with a feminine well shaped head. Although today she couldn’t match the movement of the winner she stands on straight legs & was spannable, with a strong loin & well muscled rear quarters.

AVNSC Terrier

1 Bell. Zippor Sleepy Sapphireson At Letara. Top quality 14mth Sealyham dog who I have done well before. For me he just oozes breed type & quality. His masculine head has the desired length & power with dark expressive eyes. He has well set drop ears lying close. Strong neck of good length leads to broad well placed shoulders, deep chest & short muscular legs. His body is long & low with a level topline which he maintains at all times. Ribs reach well back. Powerful rear quarters which he uses to good effect on the move. He strides round the ring with great purpose showing an effortless side profile movement. Presented in tip top condition with a fabulous double coat free from curl & having a hard texture. Delighted to award him BAVNSC & Terrier Group 1

1 Neville. Honeymist Posh Peanuts At Chancete. 3yr old Bedlington dog with a good well shaped head & well set thin, velvety textured ears. Correct bite. Clean neck of good length leads to well laid shoulders. He has the correct shape viewed from the front & is deep chested. He has a rise over the loin with the correct tuck up. Moved well. RBAVNSC.

2 Thoburn. Ch Northridge Gotan Go ShCM. 7yr old SCW dog who is full of quality & unfortunate to meet the Manchester today. His masculine head has medium width of skull, well defined stop & strong square jaw. Straight front & good depth of chest. His body is compact, short coupled with a level topline. Decent spring of rib. He uses his well muscled rear quarters to good effect, showing reach & drive. Presented in beautiful coat & condition.

2 Border Hollingsbee Otterwood Diodem JW. Rising 2yr old grizzle bitch with a very good feminine head. She is well made all through with a level topline & correct tailset. Good bone & tight feet. Easily spanned with a thick loose pelt. Harsh double coat. Very sound up & down showing a free flowing profile gait.

Terrier Puppy Group

1 Border Terrier Hollingsbee. Otterwood Silhouette. Eyecatching 7mth blue dog. Lovely head for his age with a correct bite. Well angulated all through with a level topline, held on the move. Good bone & nice tight feet. Easily spanned with a thick loose pelt. Really good harsh double coat. Moved out well on a free flowing stride to take the Puppy Group.
