Maidenhead & District Canine Society

Maidenhead & District CS Open show Saturday 15th February 2020   at  Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading. 

My thanks to the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this lovely friendly and well organised show and to the exhibitors for their entries and allowing me the honour of judging their dogs, I had a lovely day, thank you all.

Shih Tzu

Puppy (1) 1. Kubis’ Mapimakastar Bunny Hop, Feminine gold and white bitch, just a raw baby at 6 and a half months old and she stood alone in this class, nice outline and balance when stacked and when she moved once she had settled, it was sound and free flowing. She had a round head, dark round eye, good bite and width of jaw, nice layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, a good depth of chest and spring of rib for her age, level top line, carried her tail well, good presentation and well-handled for her first show. Best Puppy.

PGD (1) 1. Francis’ Elzu Ebony And Ivory B/W bitch well presented by her handler, Feminine head with a dark round eye, good length of muzzle, undershot bite, well set ears, fair length of neck, fair shoulder placement, good depth of chest, level topline, well set tail, handled well.

Open (5) 1. Flack’s Mifcahs The King And I, Masculine, well balanced G/W dog, sturdy with good bone and substance, nice broad, round head of good proportions, dark eyes set wide apart, wide undershot jaw, good length of muzzle, good ear set, length of neck and layback of shoulder, good length of upper arm, good spring of rib and depth of chest, level topline, well set tail carried well over his back, he moved soundly, freely and with front extension and rear drive showing full pads, nice rounded thighs and balanced angulation. Well-muscled and in very good condition. I liked his shape, balance, attitude and ring presence, BOB & thrilled to see he Get Utility Group 1 under Group judge Lyn Church.

2. Gray’s Ragabbey Cherry Opal Feminine B/W bitch, nice outline and balance, free moving and stylish on the move, good shoulder placement and good length of upper arm, feminine rounded head with a dark round eye, good bite and length of muzzle, good depth of chest, spring of rib elbows held in, level topline, good tail set and carriage, moved and showed well. RBOB

Miniature Schnauzer , Puppy (0), Junior (0) 

PGD (1) 1. Lewis’ Avashar One To Keep, Sturdy, quality Pepper & Salt bitch, feminine balanced head, dark eye, scissor bite, well set ears, good length of neck, lay of shoulder and a good length of upper arm, straight forelegs, with a good depth of brisket, good spring of rib and depth of chest, level topline with a well set tail. Beautifully presented and well handled. RBOB.

 Open (1) Avashar Just One Kiss, Another sturdy quality Pepper & Salt bitch, slightly darker in shade, 20 months old and litter sister to the PGD winner, slightly bigger and squarer that her litter sister but still feminine, balanced head, dark oval eye, good scissor bite, well set ears carried just on the temples, good length of neck, nice layback of shoulder and a good length and return of upper arm, she had a good width between her straight forelegs, prominent chest bone, with a good depth of brisket, good spring of rib and depth of chest, back strong and straight, slightly sloping topline with a well set tail. I felt she had better rear angulation than my PGD winner and moved well to win BOB today. Beautifully presented and well handled.

Border Collie 

Puppy (3,1abs)1. Hartfield’s Moshanta May Contain Nuts 11 month old, well balanced masculine B/W dog, fairly broad well balanced head with an oval brown eye, keen expression, correct scissor bite, well set triangular ears, good length of neck, with a nice layback of shoulder and length of upper arm, good depth of brisket, elbows held in, straight forelegs and good feet, good spring of rib and depth of chest, firm loin good topline and length of tail, good textured double coat, beautifully presented, moved well. Best Puppy and went on to gain a 3rd in the puppy group.

2. Gray’s Falconmoor Spring Melody, 10 months Very feminine B/W bitch, nice head and eye, correct bite, good length of neck, nice lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, a lot to like about her, she needs to settle on the move. Hopefully this will come with maturity.

Junior (3,1abs) Dalby & Green’s 1. Fayken Return Of The King 13 month old, masculine dog, with a good head, brown oval eye, clean cheeks, well set triangular ears, good length of neck leading into a good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, good spring of rib and depth of chest, balanced front and rear angulation, firm loin, good length of tail, moved well.

2. Falconmoor Spring melody (2nd In Puppy).

PGD (3,1abs) Dreamwork Collat’ral Beauty, well balanced and feminine Red Merle Bitch, good outline, well balanced front and rear quarters which she used well on the move, lovely layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, good spring of rib and depth of chest, nice top line and low tail set carried low on the move, broad but feminine head, clean cheeks, brown nose, full and correct scissor bite and blue oval eyes, good ear set. Pushed the BOB hard in the challenge, glad to award her RBOB.

2. Fayken Return Of The King (Winner of Junior and a close decision)

Open (2) 1. Moshanta Movin On JW ShCM ShCEX Mature 5 year old B/W bitch, perfectly balanced, with a flowing outline, a good broad well balanced head, clean cheeks, flat skull, well set brown oval eyes, well set triangular ears and a correct scissor bite, Loved her shape and her well laid shoulder with corresponding length and angle of upper arm, straight forelegs, strong pasterns and nice feet, good spring of rib and depth of chest, firm loin, good rear quarters, well let down hocks, good topline, tail length and carriage, I loved her gait coming, going and side view, presented in good coat and condition, I felt that she could do the job that she was bred for with ease, pleased to award her BOB and thrilled to see her win a very good Pastoral group under group judge Maggie Foreman.

2. Dalby’s Axernamoon Amun Ra, Another nice feminine, mature bitch in good condition, nice shoulder placement, good length of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, a little longer in back than my winner and not quite the movement, the mats hampered a lot of the dogs today as due to the storm brewing outside we had to make do.
