Salukis

Junior: (6) (1abs)

A very interesting class to judge with ages ranging from 12 months to 17 months and all at different stages of development.

1ST Hamilton's Alishamar Roxane. 17mths grizzle bitch. I found this quality bitch very promising as her general appearance is one of grace, balance and elegance. She has a beautiful head being long and narrow. Correct eye shape and colour with such a gentle expression. Good bite with a strong jaw. Well set ears of correct length. Straight in forelegs with strong pasterns. Well filled chest. Long neck set into a well laid shoulder with good length to upper arm. Long and deep in brisket and correct length to loin with good cut up. Strong top line with the required slight arch over the loin. She has strong hip bones with moderately bent stifles with good width and well developed first and second thigh. Correct tail set and carriage. Her movement for such a young bitch is very positive both in front and rear action and she flows round the ring with a smooth light lifting gait .

2ND Matthew's Caryna Haber. Well made young male just over 12 months old and as to be expected very raw at this stage of his development. However he is balanced elegant and moderate in outline and although still needing to mature and fill his frame he appealed for his breed type and soundness on the move once settled into his stride. I am sure once his handler learns to relax more with him I would expect him to do some useful winning as he continues to mature.

3RD Freegard's Mumtaz Asteria.

1ST Walton Haddon's Badavie Don Peppino At Ilsham (IMP SWED) I have watched this young top quality parti male develop from a baby. Now at 2 years old he is really looking the part. He is graceful, elegant and well balanced with no exaggeration. Such a lovely head, long and narrow with correct eye shape and colour giving a gentle and dignified expression. Good bite and strong jaw. Correct front with straight forelegs and long from elbow to wrist. Stands on good feet with toes long and well arched. He excels in forehand with correct length to upper arm and shoulders well laid. Brisket deep and long giving rise to correct cut up and rise over the loin.. Well set hip bones and strong well developed moderate stifles, showing good development to first and second thigh. His tail is well set from a long and gently sloping pelvis and carried correctly on the move. He comes into his own on the move with such a lovely light lifting action in profile and covers the ground with a long forward reach and power and drive in rear action. I awarded him RBOB and only losing out to the quality open bitch on maturity.

2ND Fortnum's Ariane Luzia (IMP USA) 3 year old Black/Grizzle male. Although not the presence of my winner he is a well constructed male with a balanced and elegant outline. He has a refined head with gentle expression and correct eye shape and colour. Correct bite and strong under jaw. Front well filled and straight forelegs. I would prefer more length to upper arm but his shoulders are reasonably well laid. Deep brisket with good length. Good cut up, strong hip bones and a well constructed stifle. He moved well with a positive front action and was sound in rear movement but could not match my winner in profile movement going round the ring.

A quality class.

1ST Garratt & Oakey's CH Caryna Neferti JW SHCM . Good to see this top quality mature cream bitch back in the ring today following maternal duties. She was presented in excellent condition, being spot on for weight and fit and well muscled in body. Perfectly balanced and free from any exaggerations. Lovely to go over with a beautiful head and such a gentle expression, correct bite and strong jaw. Ears well set and correct length. Good front with well developed chest. Stands on good feet. Excellent shoulders with good length to upper arm. Ribs deep and carried well back, with correct cut up. Gentle rise over the loin. Strong hip bones. Moderate hind angulation and hocks low to ground. She moved really well with a very positive front and rear action and looked good in profile movement. I was pleased to award her a well deserved BOB and pleased to see her go on to group 4 in a strong hound group.

2ND Freegard's Jazelle Athena For Mumtaz. I have always admired this top quality fawn bitch and enjoyed being able to judge her today. She is graceful and elegant and has such a well balanced outline when stacked and moving. Such a very pretty head with gentle expression and correct eye shape and colour. Perfect bite and strong underjaw. Ears are well set and of correct length. Long neck set into excellent shoulders, correct front with straight forelegs, strong slightly sloping pasterns. Feet of moderate length, toes long and well arched. Correct depth and length to brisket leading to good cut up. Correct rise over a well muscled loin. Hip bones strong leading to a gently sloping pelvis with correct tail set. Strong well muscled hindquarters and hocks close to ground. She is so very sound on the move with correct front and rear action and was very well handled by her young handler.
