Taunton and District Canine Society. Open Show.

Saturday 4th January 2020.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Judge. Sandra Coles. (Twyforde)

Thank you to the officers and the committee of Taunton and District Canine Society for inviting me to judge and also for their kind hospitality throughout the day. Thank you also to my two very efficient stewards and also to the exhibitors for entering their dogs and the good sportsmanship shown. I was delighted to see BOB achieve GP 1 in the Toy Group, in a very competitive group.

Junior 6(1)

1. De Walton’s Jolainey Tinkerbell with Underknoll. Fourteen months old nicely marked Blenheim bitch. So mature for her age and so sound. Very pretty, correct head with large, round, dark eyes set well apart. Good nose pigment. Correct scissor bite. Shoulders well laid back, good spring of rib and level top line which she maintained on the move. Tail set on correct. Moved true both going and coming back. Never stopped showing RBOB.

2. Franks’ Cathmead Cheridah. Just six months, well marked, pretty, Blenheim bitch. Good body for her age and just loved her overall size. Skull almost flat between ears. Large round dark eyes and good nose pigment. Correct scissor bite. Well laid back shoulders and level top line which she kept on the move. Tail set on correct. Needs to be moved at a faster pace but moved true both going and coming back. BP. A pity she lost her confidence in the puppy group.

3. Hawkins’ Pendralier Elise.

Graduate. 4.

1. Yeates’ Merryanna Easter Buddy. Twenty one month old Blenheim dog with the most gorgeous soft expression. Well broken up coat on pearly white ground. Skull almost flat between ears, shallow stop and correct length to muzzle. Large dark round eyes and good nose pigment. Correct scissor bite. Well laid back shoulders and level top line which he maintained on the move. Correct tail set. Moved true coming back but a little close behind when going away. Never stopped showing.

2. Walton’s Underknoll Rose Gold. Two year old ruby bitch with a rich red silky coat. Loved her size and shape. Head almost flat between ears. Dark round eyes and good nose pigment. Correct scissor bite. Good layback of shoulder body short-coupled with good spring of rib and level top line. Tail set on well. Moved freely and correctly just preferred the softer expression of 1.

3. Hawkin’s Pendralier Phenomenal

Limit. 5 (1)

1. Knapp and Blackie’s Cridensa Conrad. Three year old Ruby dog. A credit to his owners. Shown in beautiful coat and condition despite the difficult winter conditions. Correct head. Skull almost flat between ears. Superb pigment in large round dark eyes and good nose pigment. Mouth correct. Good reach of neck and layback of shoulder. Top line level on the move and standing. Legs straight and moderately boned. Tail set correct. Excelled in construction and movement. A beautiful free moving dog. A pleasure to watch and deserved his BOB and very pleased to see go GP1.

2. Frank’s Cathmead Here Comes Summer. Two year old nicely marked Blenheim bitch. A very sound little girl. Sweet head and expression. Showing lovely dark eyes and nose pigment. Mouth correct. Moderate neck and shoulders well laid back. Short coupled with enough spring of rib. Level back. Correct tail set. Movement in parallel going and coming.

3. Cox’s Pennygown Private Dancer.

Open Dog 4.

1. Lewis’ Carleeto Stardust. Two year old Black and Tan. Have judged him before and like his size, conformation and showmanship. Dark, large round eyes and nose pigment good. Correct scissor bite. Good reach of neck and shoulders well laid back. Body short-coupled with level top line maintained on the move and standing. Moved soundly and true. Not in the best of coat today.

2. Cox’s Timbric Truffle for Fujairah. Nearly four years old Ruby. Richly coloured silky coat. A lovely sound dog just slightly bigger than 1. Skull almost flat between ears, shallow stop and correct length from base to tip of nose. Large round dark eyes and set well apart giving a soft expression. Correct scissor bite. Shoulders well laid back and top line maintained standing and on the move. Perfect movement going and coming.
