GUILDFORD & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY – Open Show

Held on: Sunday 16th FEBRUARY 2020 - Judge: Mr. Russell F. Jones (Quemerford)

I was pleased to be invited to judge once again at this well-run friendly show. Well done to the committee and to all exhibitors that managed to get to the show which was held in the atrocious weather. There were absentees but all exhibits that were at the show were shown in a good clean condition. I had some lovely dogs to judge. So many thanks once again to all that were present.

PASTORAL AVNSC P D/B (4,1), The first three placed puppies were of super quality. 1. Miss K. Waite, JoJoba Ekisha: A pleasing 7mth old GSD bitch of a good type with a nice out-line. She had a very feminine head with a lovely sweet expression and was very inquisitive, nothing seemed to faze her. Good ear carriage which she used to good effect, neat front and plenty of bone. Strong back, very neat rear and good angles and strong hocks. She moved well in all directions. No hesitation in awarding her BP and later Pastoral PG2.     2. Miss S.M. Linney, Cecil Vom Bruggener Land (Imp. Deu.): A very smart 7mth old Swedish Vallhund dog of very good type with a nice out-line. He is very well balanced for his age. I liked his front assembly and he was looking very aloof and very smart. Felt he just needed to tighten up all through. Has a very neat back end and tail set. Could quite easily swop places with 1st. I liked him.     3. Mrs. K. Howlett, Tiksi Forget Me Not: A very nice 6mth old puppy bitch. A Samoyed, that could also have swopped places with the other two. She is of a very pleasing type with a nice out-line. Still a little unsteady on the move, but when she settled, she was fine. She has a good coat coming through and was well looked after.

JD/B (2,1), 1. Mrs. Pernaviene, Cuba Warrigal Paws: An Australian Cattle Dog that was just over 1 year of age. This dog was well grown and of a good type with a good out-line. Moved out ok and handled the ring well. Went on to win Res. BOB.

PG D/B (7,3), 1. Mrs. J. & Mr. D. Cross, Tiksi Moonglow: A 2.6yr old Samoyed dog of good size and that is of a good type with a pleasing out-line. He was shown in plenty of coat of good texture and good clean condition. Moved out well around the ring. Pleased to award him Best. AVNSC and Grp.4. Well done.     2. Miss K. Waite, Kintaro Malaga: GSD a dog that was rising 4yrs of age. He is of good size and type with a good out-line and very pleasing to go over. I felt she should have won this class but just would not settle on the move today. Pity as I liked him.     3. Miss S.M. Linney, Tanellis Bloomin Tigerlily: A 2yr old Swedish Vallhund bitch that was holding her own here. She is of a pleasing type and outline also was nice to handle. Just needed to settle more on the move today.     4. Mrs. A., Mr. G. & Mrs. D. Slaughter & Parsons, Kintara Valencia with Franzille D: GSD B.

O D/B (5,3), 1. Mrs. Pernaviene, Cuba Warrigal Paws: An Australian Cattle Dog. Dog as before.     2. Mrs. K. Howlett, Tiksi Snowstorm: A 4yr old Samoyed bitch that is of a nice type and out-line. She is very pleasing to hand with a super coat which is well looked after. Unfortunately, she was not settled on the move today. Such a pity as I liked her.

ANY VARIETY PASTORAL V D/B (6,3), A super class of Veterans so well done to all. 1. Miss T. Gray, Bonivivant Ave A Go Of Okami, Sh.CM: A 10yr old Belgian Shepherd Dog (Laekenois). A dog that is well up to size, and of a good type with a nice out-line. Shown in super coat and excels in movement. He won this class easily. As he is a true working dog in action. Well done.     2. Mrs. J. & Mr. D. Cross, Tiksi Frosted Flame AW(S): An 8yr old Samoyed bitch of good size of good type and nice out-line. Shown in good coat and condition. Moved out well. A very neat bitch. Shame she came up against 1st today.     3. Ms. S. Carr, Rajjinka Safe Bet: An 11yr old b/w Border Collie bitch that was very pleasing and of good type with a nice out-line. Moved well around the ring and just missed out today.

WELSH CORGI (CARDIGAN) PG D/B (4,3), 1. Mr. G Long, Liebehund Golden Jet: A brindle coloured dog rising 2 yrs. of age that stood alone in this class. He is of a pleasing type with a nice out-line.  He has a typical head and was very neat looking.  Moved well and kept his top-line on the move. Pleased to award him BOB.

PASTORAL GROUP: 1. Mr. A. Lee, Kaijartuu Ihmissusi: Finnish Lapphund. A dog rising 13mths of age that stood out for me, loved his type and out-line. I particularly liked his head which is so typical.  He was a pleasure to see him on the move.  Presented in good order. I had no hesitation in awarding him G1. Many Congratulations.

2. Mr. R.M. & Mrs. S.A. Tadd, Kricarno Katchmeifyoukan: Pyrenean M.D. Bitch 23mths of a good size and pleasing type and out-line. Covered the ground with ease pleasure to watch her move around the ring.

3. Miss M. Rennison, Esterbon Bi Storm To Zaniah: Shetland Sheepdog. A 4yr old b/w bitch of a neat type with a nice out-line. Moved nicely. Well-deserved her placing.

  4. Mrs. J. & Mr. D. Cross, Tiksi Moonglow: Samoyed dog. As before.

PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP: 1. Mrs. D.M. McDade, Lyndale Illusion of Love: A 10mth old s/w Rough Collie bitch. A pretty girl that just missed out in the adult group. She is of a nice type with a nice out-line that was shown in a well-groomed coat. She moved nicely around the ring. Pleased to award her PG1 and to see her go BPIS, Well done.

2. Miss K. Waite, JoJoba Ekisha: GSD bitch. As before.

3. Miss M. Rennison, Kayla Kiss Ze Shetlandu by Zaniah, (Imp. Cze.): An 11mth old Shetland Sheepdog b/m bitch that is of a very neat type with a good out-line. She was very pleasing to handle and is of a very sweet nature. Moved nicely around the ring.

4. Mr. M. & Mrs. S.A. Tadd, Pashme De La Vallee Du Girou with Kricarno, (Imp Fra.): A 10mth old Pyrenean MD that was well grown for his age. He is of a good type with a good out-line, moved out well. Just needs to settle but time is on his side.
