Judge – Roger Perkins

Cocker Spaniel

Puppy (1)

1. Aykroyd’s Clydesian Elderado – young 8 months old black dog shown in good coat and condition. Head balanced, straight front, deep chest and good spring of ribs. Giving his handler a tough time on the move today.

Post Graduate (3)

1. Sewell’s Kerriglow Dream Again For Quattrozampe - Solid black in super coat and condition and very well presented and handled. Good bone, balanced body proportion with well ribbed back with short strong loin, muscular rear quarters and well let down hocks. Moved well holding his topline.

2. Harris-Bray’s Helenwood Illusion JW – one I have judged before, mature well constructed bitch, beautiful feminine head, compact, squarely built with good spring of ribs, deep brisket, shown in excellent coat and condition, just lacked the balance of the first on the move today.

3. Aykroyd’s Clydesian Ruby Tuesday

Open (5,1)

1. Burley’s Cassom Canaletto at Barnsbur - Blue Roan dog, classic well proportioned head and gentle expression, clean neck, sloping shoulders and well balanced front and rear, well ribbed back and short strong loin, presenting a balanced picture both stacked and on the move and in superb coat and condition. On the move he covered the ground effortlessly with such a merry action  and an ever active tail. BOB and pleased to see him go GP3.

2. Aykroyd’s Clydesian Desperado – black dog slightly larger frame than first and not the overall balance, masculine head, good length of neck into sloping shoulders, deep brisket, good bend of stifle. Moved ok.

3. Sewell’s Wintonia Hidden Gem at Quattrozmpe

Golden Retriever

Puppy (1)

1. Bates’ Akenscales Waterloo – 9 month old dog presenting a balanced outline for one so young, masculine balanced head without and coarseness, straight front with enough bone all around playing, well laid shoulders and a good turn to his stifle. Playing his handler up today initially but when settled he is very sound on the move, straight and true front and back, holding his shape. BP and pleased to see him go PG2.

Post Graduate (3,1)

1. Mason’s Mavistan Rambling Rose Through Nosam – young bitch, with a balanced outline and excellent bone and substance. Very pleasing head and kind expression, straight front, angles correct front and rear, good depth to brisket, well sprung ribs moved

2. Staniland’s Johannson Saint Beatrich - mature bitch with a well chiselled head and soft expression, angles correct front and back, short coupled with good bend of stifles, hocks well let down moved ok.

Open (7,1)

1. Wood’s Monchique Mrs Brown – bitch excelling in breed type, broad skull with kind expression and dark eye, neck clean and muscular, shoulders well laid back, deep chest, ribs deep and well sprung, level topline, short coupled and hocks well let down, presenting a symmetrical outline stacked and on the move.  Moved well, straight front and rear. BOB

2. Copley’s Monchique Imperial Beau at Emmabe JW IR JR CH – liked this dog a lot and unlucky to meet first today. 21 months old dog slightly longer than winner but still presents a balanced picture, thick coat with dense undercoat. Masculine head, straight front with enough bone, well laid back shoulders, good spring of rib, angles correct front and rear, moved with drive.

3. Shaw & Robertshaw’s Akenscales Eiri Na Greine

Italian Spinone

Puppy (1)

1. Thompson’s Testaverde Pyramid Song at Paradeco - A very raw 6 month old R/B baby at his first show and giving his handler a tough time. Divergent head planes and well set ears and melting expression, chest of correct depth and width for age, deep ribcage, enough angulation fore and aft with enough bone for his age. Didn’t really settle on the move today. BP and PG3

Post Graduate (3)

1. Benett’s Testaverde Irma Cappece Del Hochopera - B/R bitch with feminine head with correct divergent planes, good eye shape and colour giving a melting expression. Strong bone and well muscled throughout, sufficient angulation front and rear with correct topline. Good thick skin and harsh coat. Moved the best in the class.

2. Berry’s Affilato Love Me Tender – pleasing orange young bitch up to size but with a balanced outline. Attractive feminine head with a nice eye and expression, presented in hard condition and with a correct harsh coat. Straight front with good bone. Moved ok.

Junior Handling

6-11 years old

1. Paige Hughes. Paige was in control of her dog at all times and ensured that I was able to view the dog at all times. Her lines were true and correct ensuring her dog was shown off to its best at all times. My instructions were followed to the letter and at no point did I feel she stopped showing off her dog to the best of her ability. Sure to have a bright future.

2. Charlotte Robershaw. Charlotte is another young handler with a bright future. In deciding the placings today I was literally splitting hairs such was the quality of the handling. Again, she had control of her dog at all times listened to the instructions given but unfortunately had one lapse in concentration which, in the end, cost her first place.
