Kent, Surrey & Sussex Labrador Retriever Club

Kent, Surrey & Sussex Labrador Retriever Club – 2nd February 2020

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for the honour of judging your club show, and to the exhibitors for a lovely entry. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and I hope you did too. I was very pleased with my winners and as I said on the day it was lovely to hear so much applause and appreciation for the winner. Other breeds could learn from you. Finally, thanks you for my gift. I can assure you it has been christened. 

MPD (3,2)

1st Metcalfe’s Baileykin Smartiepants for Baileydale. Just 6mths and what a happy chap. Good head with well-set ears, lovely dark eyes and an inquisitive expression. Well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and return of upper arm. Straight front with good bone. Round feet still need to tighten a little. Deep well sprung ribs, straight topline with good tail set and carriage but a little up on the rear as expected at the moment. Well made rear with good breadth. Moved true with drive once settled.

PD (2,1)

1st Coode’s Warringah’s The Bluff. 10mth Black and what a super young man, he is coming on a treat. Lovely head with the right amount of breadth for his age and good width through his muzzle, well set ears and dark eyes give a kind expression. Short strong neck to very well made forequarters, a handful of forechest ahead of well laid shoulders and one of the best returns of upper arm. Strong bone and lovely feet although he can be a little hap hazard with their direction on the stand. Deep well sprung ribs, excels in topline and tail set. A well rounded rear of good angles completes a very nice typey picture. Super mover. Straight coming and going with an easy steady driving gait. Not mature enough yet for top honours but it won’t be long. BEST PUPPY IN SHOW.

JD (3,0)

1st Perkins’ Carromer Tegulia by Keeninspires. 14mth Yellow. This youngster impressed me today. When he engages brain he can present a lovely outline, then he becomes a teenager and messes around. Lovely breadth of skull and muzzle, very mobile ears, lovely eyes and expression. Strong through neck to well laid shoulders and enough forechest. Deep well sprung ribs and a lovely topline when he behaves. Does have a tendency to bring his tail up especially on the move but not excessively. Short muscular loin and very good rear angles. Another who can move well, true fore and aft with good reach and drive in profile. Won 4 classes and did enough in the challenge to persuade me he deserved RESERVE BEST DOG.

2nd Tipson’s Ffurador First Past The Post. 13mth Chocolate. A little finer through head and muzzle than the winner but in balance with his slightly smaller body. Hazel eyes and a cheeky expression. Lovely forehand with well laid shoulders and straight front with nice round feet. Deep well sprung ribs under a level topline. A little longer through the loin to a well made rear. Good tail set and very happy. Moved well.
