United Retriever Club

UNITED RETRIEVER CLUB, February 12, 2020

The United Retriever Club held an open show at the Sports Connexion, Ryton on Dunsmore with an excellent entry for a mid-week show. I was so sorry to hear that Mrs Sandra Marshall was unable to fulfil her appointment but was pleased to be able to help. We arrived just after the start of the show, as it is always good to go to a sub-group show & watch some judging.

All too soon it was time to judge the final awards. I had a super line-up from which to choose BIS from, after further consideration I chose SA Ch Trevena Masterchef, the Flatcoated Retriever, he caught my eye the moment he came into the ring, this mature dog had a lovely head & expression, good neck & shoulders, strong topline held both on the move & set up, put down in excellent coat & condition, he has a lovely neck & shoulders, good ribcage, loin & a well muscled hindquarter. Showed his socks off to beat the lovely Labrador bitch, Chyanhal Trevose of Trewinnard into RBIS position. Lovely balanced bitch with a beautiful head & expression, good neck & shoulders, well boned legs & feet, good ribcage, topline & tailset, excellent coat well presented, well set & carried tail, moved correctly & steadily to beat off the other good BOB winners.

BPIS went to a beautiful Golden Retriever bitch who was a year old the day after the show. Again that beautiful head that is so desired of the breed, correct eye & well set ears, good neck & shoulders, strong topline & excellent hindquarters, lovely coat which was put down in excellent condition, moved & showed so well to win a strong puppy group. RBPIS went to Cretshengan Signy, the Nova Scotia Duck Toller bitch, just right for age, lovely head & expression, in good coat & condition, she is quality & when she moved, she covered the ground with ease holding a good topline & a well set tail which was carried correctly. BVIS, Pattilands Shining Star, the Labrador bitch who was alone in this competition but still deserved her win & a pleasure to judge. At over 7 could do well still in the breed classes as well as veteran for she doesn’t look her age. Thank you for staying so that I could see her.
