Finnish Lapphunds – Ms Nicola Clark (Lumenico)

Thank you to Folkestone, Hythe & district for giving me my first judging appointment and to all the exhibitors who supported me by giving me an entry. It was very much appreciated. It was lovely to see so many happy lappy faces looking up at me as I was judging them. Several even snuck me kisses which contributed to what was an enjoyable first experience judging our wonderful breed.

J (2,0) 1 Mowatt’s Tabanyaruu Wihta Matiska, 6 month old puppy bitch with a feminine head and charming, soft expression. Good length of muzzle and enough stop. Correctly placed, medium sized furred ears. Dark, oval eyes. Nicely proportioned body for such a young bitch. Thick, textured coat with a gorgeous full plumed tail. Effortless movement and had impressive focus for a puppy. Expertly handled. RBOB, BP, PPG1

2 Fowler’s Tabanyaruu Unelma Kukinta. Another puppy bitch, this one older at 10 months and therefore bigger. Longer in muzzle and body. Strongly built with deep chest and good spring of rib. Feet appeared strong, arched and well furred. Good low set hocks. Super full double coat and beautiful tail set on nicely. Slightly less settled on the move than 1.

PG (5,1) 1 Graystone’s Morval Helina Keiju. 2 year old bitch. Beautiful feminine head and expression with good muzzle to skull ratio. Correct dark, oval shaped eyes and proportionally sized ears. Level topline with notable tuck up and tail set. In great body condition with a very healthy looking, textured coat. Moved gracefully with handler.

2 Downing & Bressan’s Lumikoira Inki. 18 month old bitch. Very well presented, elegant looking bitch. Striking, alert expression with nice head profile. Eye colour in harmony with coat colour but would just prefer them a little darker. Good muscle throughout under a thick, full coat. Love her expressive tail. Nice movement.

Open (4,2) 1 Bright’s Thistleglen Fred. 4 year old dog. This dog really shone for me today. Attractive silhouette. Strongly built, as called for in the standard. Masculine head in correct proportion to body. Substance to chest, firm back and level topline. Excellent profuse coat with distinctive male mane and leg furnishings. Nice and alert on the move and handled well in breed classes and the group. Pleased to award BOB today.

2 Graystone’s Keskiyo Kohtalo. 4 year old bitch. Soft and friendly expression with pretty, dark eyes. Muzzle slightly longer. Medium sized furred ears. Straight front. Lovely full coat, rich in colour. Moved a little close behind today.
