Caledonian Canine Society

Many thanks to the secretary and committee of the club for the invitation to judge their open show, a lovely well-run show, with a very friendly atmosphere.  My thanks to the exhibitors for the excellent presentation of all of the exhibits, particularly given the atrocious weather conditions leading up to the show. 

Newfoundland Puppy (3 entries, 1 Absent) 

1st: Gordons – Newgradens My Way with Leggafoot.  Beautiful 9-month-old black bitch presented to the highest standard with excellent coat of correct texture. Well balanced with substantial bone throughout.  Beautiful head with dark eyes and short clean muzzle giving the gentlest of expressions.  Excellent mouth with correct scissor bite.  Strong well-set neck well set onto her shoulders.  Beautiful outline, with broad back and level top-line. Excellent front and well-built hindquarters which she used well on the move. Her construction is sound and evident on the move which was effortless.  Well-schooled and handled to get the best out of her.  Close decision between her and her brother.  Best Puppy in Breed and WPG4. 

2nd: Moirs – Newgradens Brown Sugar.  9-month-old brown male, litter brother to 1st and a very closer decision between them both, 2 lovely puppies whose future I will watch with interest. 

3rd: Moirs – Newgradens Golden Bullion 

Newfoundland Post Graduate (2 entries, 1 absent) 

1st: Moirs – Newgradens Will I Am.  An excellent example of the breed, at 2 years old this beautiful black male is extremely well balanced, with substantial bone throughout and is, as required noble, majestic and powerful.  Again, presented to the highest of standards with coat of correct texture.  Excellent body with broad deep chest which was well ribbed.  His back is broad with strong muscular loins. Level topline which he held on the move.  Strong hindquarters which were well built and strong.  His head is everything I love about the breed, this male has the most beautiful gentle expression.  His head is large and broad with well developed occipital bone, short, clean cut muzzle and small dark eyes.  He is a credit to his owner/breeder.  Well presented and handled to get the best out of him. Reserve Best of Breed 

Newfoundland Open Dog (1 entry, 1 absent) 

Newfoundland Open Bitch (4 entries, 3 absent) 

1st: Duffs – IR CH OSW King of Helluland  My Queen at Titanbears JW ShCM.  Black bitch of 2 ½ years old, presented in first class condition.  So much to like about her and such a showgirl.  Although not the biggest, her confirmation and movement excel.  She is well balanced throughout with excellent bone.  Perfectly straight forequarters with elbows close fitting to side.  Her back is broad with strong muscular loins. Her top-line when stood and on the move remained level at all times.  Her hindquarters are very will built and strong which she used well on the move.  Her head is broad with good mouth, clean cut muzzle and dark eye giving the gentlest of expressions.  Hands on there is so much to like about this bitch, however she excels in her movement which won her Best of Breed.  Well presented and handled to get the best out of her.
