Oxfordshire Canine Society

1st March 2020

Whippets

I would like to thank Oxfordshire Canine Society for the kind invite to judge at their open show, it was an extremely well-run show under difficult circumstances on the day with such a welcoming committee. Secondly and by no means least I thank the exhibitors for their excellent entry. I was very pleased with the quality of the entry and equally their presentation on the day.

P (6:2)

1st. Courtney’s Bodlon One and Only for Courtbirch Brindle boy with white trim, under 7months, good strong head, correct bite, dark pigmentation, good reach of neck, excelled in front, feet, tuck up, topline and movement once he’d settled. Lots to like and one to watch as he matures. BPiB – HPGrp3

2nd. Johnson’s Cyangrange Our Tiger Lily, Fawn brindle with white trim, 10mth bitch, cold temperature of the hall didn’t meet with her approvals today showing a touch unsteadiness on the table and on the move. Super pretty expression, good ear set, length of neck, tuck and correct rear angulation.

3rd. Barber&Battley’s Romaclove Love Me Like You Do

J (4:0)

1st. Saxby’s Runaround Amazin’ Grace with Sandspring, 17mth fawn bitch with white trim, undeniable whippet silhouette on the stack, feminine right through and perfect for size, lovely head, neck and good front, perfect tuck up and rise over loin, handled well on the move.

2nd. Courtney’s Courtbirch Precious Opal, 17mth light fawn bitch, slightly taller and longer in loin than 1, exquisite expression, lovely long slender neck, a touch unruly today with an unsettled performance but no denying her overall qualities.

3rd. Mack’s Jemalsheva Whoops a Daisy

PG (4:2)

1st Winstone’s Lolani Moonshine Over Monelli, 19mth fawn/white parti dog, good strong male head, good reach of neck, good front infill, topline and rear angulation, moved well to take this class.

2nd Johnson’s Cyangrange Serendipi Tea, 2yr, 4mth old classic fawn bitch, beautiful face/expression, perfect ear set and length of neck into shoulders, good spring of pastern, correct feet, excellent tuck up. Again, another one who did not approve of the cold temperature in the hall resulting in rear ‘tuckup’ on the move and stand.

L (4:1)

1st. Anderson’s Gazenorth Secret Service, 3yr 2mth old red fawn/white trim boy, He had me the moment he walked into the ring and I would gladly take him home, good male expression, correct ear set, good length of neck onto good shoulders and front assembly, tuck up often only seen in bitches these days, slight rise over loin and nothing over angulated in the rear, just lacked that final drive in the challenge but he has the quality to admire. RBiB

2nd Wallace’s Collooney Playing Away at Courtbirch 1yr 7mth light fawn/white trim dog, good strong dog all round off a larger frame to 1, Strong male head with dark pigmentation, good front infill, well bodied and moved well for his handler.

3rd Osborne’s Florancy Above and Beyond Derohan JW

OD (4:1)

1st. Shepherd’s Citycroft Sundae with Oxana JW ShCM ShCEx, just short of 4yr old red fawn/white trim dog who I’ve admired on many occasions and today he brought his ‘A’ game with him, moved with drive, purpose and at one with his handler. Dark pigmentation stunning head, good length of neck, excellent infill, good strong feet, shapely in tuck up and rise over loin, no exaggerations here, moved well throughout to take the class and the breed. Pleased to put my hands over what I had previously only seen from the ring side. BoB Hgp4

2nd. Fisher’s Marleben Dream Mover 3yr 5mth fawn bitch, built on classical lines, excellent length of neck, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, good topline and tuckup, her body flowed from head to tail under hand, just lacked the enthusiasm of drive of 1 but enough of her against a strong competition to take 2nd in this class.

3rd. Bellamy’s Kandalama Royale
