Sutton Coldfield & District Canine Association Open Dog Show 2020

Sunday 22nd February

Rottweiler - Judge Mr Mark Powell (Riversrock)

Firstly, I would like to thanks the Hon secretary Mrs O’Conner and the officers and committee of the Sutton Coldfield & District Canine Association for this opportunity to judge the Rottweiler classes at your wonderful show and to thank the exhibitors for giving me the chance to go over their lovely dogs. Unfortunately, there was a Rottweiler breed club show on not far away so numbers were low, that being said I was lucky to have two lovely dogs to go over today. Thanks’ must also go to both my stewards your help was most appreciated. The ring was a good size for the dogs to move.

1st & BOB Number 579 MS J Broadbank’s Bevanray Shirley at Nyandor Bred by Mrs B Hucker

I liked this 2 years and 10-month-old girl, she was shown in beautiful coat condition, has a feminine head with slight wrinkle when alert, good ear set dark almond eyes correct length of stop to muzzle and a black nose. Good full dentition and dark flews and lovely clean teeth. Good reach of neck, clean over the withers. Fabulous tan markings. Ample fore-chest, Excellent tight feet with black pencil markings and well-manicured nails. Trotted around the ring very nicely although she was a little bit slender for my personal taste.

2nd & RBOB Number 580 MS Y Wilkinson’s Meglamar the Mokingjay Bred by Miss K L Forster

This 22-month-old girl was larger than the winner, she has a very pleasing dry head. Dark eyes, black nose, correct scissor bite. Good rich mahogany markings, tight feet. Plenty of bone when settled she used her ears to get a good expression. She has a good level top and underline and moved well. Tail carriage was excellent both on the move and when stood in profile. A very tough decision between the two on the day.
