I would like to thank exhibitors for such a super entry, the largest of this well ran show.
Whippet Puppy Dog (3,1 abs)
1st Lloyd’s Sail on Sailor
Blue fawn of 9 months who is a lovely size and very well muscled. I loved his head which was long and lean, with a slight stop. He has bright oval eyes and small, fine ears. His neck is long and muscular, leading to a strong back with a good topline. On the move he powered round with a long low step and super freedom of action. Best Puppy Dog
2nd Wilson’s Crosscop Bollinger on Ice
A 10 months old, fawn brindle with a white trim. This boy has a super clean outline, good ribbing and stands on excellent oval feet. His back is broad and well muscled with a good arch over his loin. Lost out to 1 on movement and I would like to see his backend strengthen as I felt it was a little weak today but he has time on his side.
Whippet Junior Dog (5, 1 abs)
1st Lloyd’s Sail on Sailor
2nd McKinlay’s Collooney Sugardaddy
Such a super brindle boy of 16 months. He caught my eye upon entering the ring. Not the most confident, but sympathetically handled to his advantage to show off his qualities. He has a masculine head with a beautiful expression, fine ears and a strong jaw. He really filled my eye and has a super clean outline, excellent depth of chest with a well filled in front. I loved his elegant curves, perfect tailset and sweeping bend of stifle. A little hesitant on the move when compared to 1.
3rd Corsar’s Northwhip Rhythm N Blues
Whippet Post Graduate Dog (6, 1 abs)
1st Allen’s Zoraden Shades of Bracken
A curvy red fawn boy of 16 months old. He presents a very balanced picture and is so well constructed. He oozes masculinity and combines strength and power. His temperament is super sweet and he did everything that was asked of him today. He fills the eye when stacked, but it is not until he moves where his virtues can be fully appreciated. He is so absolutely true coming and going, not putting a foot out of place. In profile, he has a great freedom of action, throwing his forelegs low and forward and powered by his super back end which is well muscled.
2nd Leslie & Leslie’s Windwalker Endeavour
A 20 month fawn boy who was in super shape and so very well muscled. I liked his masculine head which was the correct shape with an alert eye and his ears are small and fine. His neck is muscular with a slight arch and he has a broad well muscled back. Whilst I preferred his size to 1, he could not match 1’s movement and tail carriage. Shown in super condition and well handled.
3rd Smith’s Marvidara Baby Driver at Cardinghill
Whippet Limit Dog (2)
1st Lloyd’s Penwincoed Brews Moon Shine
Blue brindle of 18 months. Presents the most balanced picture and looks particularly attractive stacked. He gives the impression of power whilst remaining elegant. His head is handsome, his neck muscular and leads to a pleasing topline with a slight rise over his loin. He stands on beautiful feet and has a perfect slight spring of pastern. Moved out well with purpose.
2nd Wilson & Wilson’s Leos Ritchoal at Willowash
5 year old brindle male who oozes masculinity. His head is the correct shape and he has a strong underjaw. His neck is strong, chest deep and he has a well filled in front. Not the balance of 1 and did not move out as positively today.
Whippet Open Dog ( 4, 3 abs)
1st Whyte’s Marvidara Best Man JW
This 4 year old fawn with a white trim stood alone but was a delight to get my hands on. He is completely unexaggerated in any way and screams elegance. He is very balanced and has a beautiful fine short coat with good skin. His head is handsome, framed with small, fine ears and alert oval eyes. He is very shapely with a good rise over his loin, a definite tuck up and well bent stifles. He stands on super feet which are oval and have well arched knuckles. There is a spring to his pastern and he has correct moderate bladed bone. He moves freely with super tail carriage and a low forward step. I found so much to like about this attractive boy and to top it off, he is schooled and presented to perfection. Best Dog.
Whippet Puppy Bitch (4)
An interesting class with varying ‘types’ and all at different stages of maturity.
1st Short’s Collooney Dita Von Tease
A superb brindle girl of just 6 months. She possesses a quality that made her instantly stand out and it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to go over head. Her head is beautiful with the correct shape of skull and a gorgeous eye and expression. She has a strong, muscular neck and a good depth of chest. Her feet are a super shape and she has a good spring of pastern. Stacked she presents a very pleasing sight and on the move she really comes in to her own – shown freely on a loose lead, she steps out freely with a long easy stride. She is so sympathetically handled to really get the best from her and I am sure she will have a super future ahead of her. Best Puppy in Breed.
2nd Winkley-Balmer & Walker’s Crosscop Cristal on Ice
Another lovely youngster. This 10 month fawn brindle girl is very feminine and has a pleasing, pretty head. She has a lovely outline, with a long neck, well laid back shoulders and straight forearms. She is curvy with a deep chest, good tuck up and pleasing rise over her loin. She moved out well and was true coming and going, with excellent profile action. Another who I am sure will have a bright future.
3rd Lloyd’s First of May
Whippet Junior Bitch (5, 1 abs)
1st Green & Halliday’s Brochinbelle Born to Ride
This brindle girl showed herself off so well and seemed older than her 6 months. She displayed a maturity and a presence that I found difficult to ignore. She is very ‘together’ and is extremely eye catching on the stack. An ultra feminine head is framed with fine ears which she used well. She has a strong muscular neck, good shoulders and a super chest with well sprung ribs. I particularly loved her bend of stifle and well let down hocks. She filled my eye and has the ability to stand naturally covering a lot of ground. This lovely girl was in complete unison with her handler, who presented her beautifully. I will watch her future with interest.
2nd Smith’s Northwhip Never Say Never at Coynachie
A very nice fawn bitch of 12 months. I liked her size and shape and found her to be extremely balanced. She gave the impression of grace whilst looking strong and muscular. She has a quality head and long muscular neck which leads to a super front assembly. Her movement was good but could not match 1 who was on top form today. Shown in super condition. Another who I am sure has a bright future.
3rd Short’s Collooney She’s So Sassy
Whippet Post Graduate Bitch (5, 2 abs)
1st Leslie & Leslie’s Agrith Ailis White Heart
An ultra feminine, petite fawn bitch of almost 2 years old. She has a pretty head with a flat skull, slight stop and alert expression. I found her to be a real pocket rocket on the move, where she powered round using her well muscled quarters to give great drive.
2nd Smith’s Lorbri Reet Petite
A 21 months of age brindle bitch. Out of a larger mould than 1 and thicker throughout, however she is extremely balanced and has a quality look to her. I loved her clean, sweeping outline which emphasised her beautiful long neck and graceful rise over her loin. Her rear quarters are powerful, stifles well bent and tail set and carriage is superb.
3rd Wilson & Winkley-Balmer’s Edenwhip Grange Fell at Willowash
Whippet Limit Bitch (4, 3 abs)
1st Short’s Collooney Bit on the Side
An outstanding brindle bitch of 18 months who oozes quality. She has an exquisite head which is the correct shape and so feminine. Her neck is long and strong and leads to a firm, well muscled back. She has correct angles, a super depth of chest, good ribbing and a strong loin. There is a definite tuck up, well bent stifles and well let down hocks. She was handled beautifully and moved out well in the class. A perfect combination of elegance and power, I am sure this girl will go far.
Whippet Open Bitch (4, 1 abs)
1st Smith’s Lorbri Mistletoe Magic
This 3 year old brindle bitch was my find of the day. I loved her for size and shape and felt that she screamed ‘Whippet’. Her head is so correct and she has a very appealing expression, with a dark, oval eye, strong jaw and perfect small, fine ears. She has the cleanest of outlines with her long neck sweeping down to meet correct shoulders and a nice rise over her loin. Her bone is moderate, feet strong and with the desired slight spring of pastern. She is curvy, with a definite tuck up and was shown in super condition. On the move, she was true coming and going whilst looking a very attractive picture in profile. I had no hesitation to award her Best Bitch and Best of Breed and in my opinion, I feel that this super bitch really could go far.
2nd Smith’s Coynachie Crazy for Love
This brindle bitch of 5 years was another super exhibit in this class. She has a very pleasing head with an oval, dark eye and a long, lean skull. Her neck is strong, chest deep and elbows directly under her withers. She has well laid back shoulders and straight forearms. She has a definite rise over her loin which leads to a perfect tail set. Her rear quarters are well muscled, helping her move with power and purpose.
