Critique for Ilfracombe and District Canine Society on 15th February 2020 - Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Classes

Thank you to the committee for the opportunity to judge at this show and for the hospitality afforded to me. It been 3 years since I judged in this area and overall the quality has improved. Further thanks go to the exhibitors for entering their dogs and coming to the show despite Storm Dennis doing his utmost to spoil the day. All accepted my decisions sportingly.

Puppy (4,2Abs) 1 Fujairah Eric Morecambe Blenheim Dog just 7 months old. Lovely head giving the cavalier soft gentle expression should mature very nicely given time, dark round eyes with scissor bite, an ideal size and shape for age, level top line and tail set, moderate neck with well angulated shoulders. BP and later PTG1. 2 Cathmead Cheridah Blenheim Bitch 8 months old. This little dog cuts a promising shape with good neck, correct dentition, sadly today she was a little overwhelmed, the big breed in the next ring didn’t help, should do well when more confident.

Special Yearling (7,3Abs) 1 Jolainey Tinkerbell with Underknoll 16 months old Blenheim Bitch. Very feminine head with well set on ears, dark, large, round eyes with scissor bite, well-constructed dog, well sprung ribs with a level top line. She was close for BOB but was carrying a tad too much weight for me today. 2 Fujairah Ernie Wise Tricolour Dog 7 months old with good head, moderate neck, fitting into well angulated shoulders. Moved out well. 3 Cathmeads Brian Boru at Doorclare.

Post Graduate (3,1Abs) 1 Underknoll Rose Gold 4 year old Ruby Bitch, she cuts the smartest of shapes, great little mover, straight and true maintaining a good top line with good reach of neck, she holds her tail true and level. Her beautiful balanced shape is well angulated. Lovely feminine head with attractive large dark round cushioned eyes. BOB

2 Pendralier Phenomenal 13 month old Blenheim Dog. Very masculine head with dark round eyes, correct movement which leads to level top line. Slightly larger than first, well boned.

Open Dog (6,3Abs) 1 Serenglade Red Baron 5 year old Ruby, short body with well sprung ribs with a level top line, fitting well angulated shoulders, very nicely put together little dog, shown to his advantage correct dentation, large dark round eyes and black nose pigmentation, moderate neck. 2 Karaime’s Golden Charm For Culverwood 6 year old Ruby boy, masculine head giving cavalier gentle expression, dark round eyes, silky correct coat which had rich dark tan in good condition, it was a shame today he didn’t want to move 3 Bellrise Lil Boy Blue.

Open Bitch (6,2Abs) 1 Underknoll Flamenco 3 year old Tricolour bitch. Well broken coat, an ideal size and shape, well built like all the dog from this kennel, moving well, large dark round eyes with scissor bite, moderate neck with well angulated shoulders. 2 Magiro Snow Princess For Fujairah Blenheim Bitch 4 years old. An ideal size and shape. Moderate long neck, fitting into well angulated shoulders, correct scissor bite. 3 Ch Chicariad Havana Sunrise with Underknoll VW.
