Brittany Club of Great Britain - Special classes

I thoroughly enjoyed my very  first judging appointment  and would like to thank the BCGB Committee for the opportunity to judge the Special classes at this show.  I was extremely pleased with my entry, both in terms of numbers and quality.  It was an honor to be able to judge so many quality dogs and I would like to thank the exhibitors for providing me with the opportunity to go over so many lovely exhibits.  I would also like to thank the stewards on the day for their hard work to make everything run smoothly.

Class SY – AD ASTRA SPECIAL YEARLING DOG OR BITCH (10,1)

It was really pleasing to see so many promising youngsters in this class.   I am sure many have a bright future and look forward to watching their progress.

1st – Cocking and Barnaby’s Bonapartist Odette at Ruskinite – 15 month old o/w bitch.  Well presented and one of the maturer youngsters in this class – full of breed type.   Square, cobby appearance when stood in profile.  Good deep chest and rounded ribcage with short back and good length of leg.  Correct angulation front and rear with a good forechest.  Very pleasing head with ears set high,  correct proportion of skull to muzzle, with parallel skull and muzzle toplines and with a moderate stop.  Moved well with her handler and with typical brisk stride.

2nd – Cutler’s Tarward Precious Pearl with Jayricnbrits – 8 month old o/w bitch.  The lively and intelligent expression of this youngster really caught my eye.  Beautiful head , ears set well, carried high and of correct shape.  Moderate stop and correct skull to muzzle proportion, tapered muzzle with tight lips.  Deep chest and short back giving a good square outline.  Correct gait once on the move. This young bitch still needs time to mature but shows a lot of promise.

3rd – Gudgin’s Jassendue Pandora

Class ST – SANDY MASSIE MEMORIAL SPECIAL OPEN BCGB TAN DOG OR BITCH (8,1)

1st – Steven’s Pixbrook Joyrider at Sanbosier – 5 year old o/w bitch.  Presented a square outline with good length of leg and short back and loin.  Moderately well boned and well muscled.  Correct angulation front and rear.  Deep chest with a well rounded ribcage.  Very pleasing and expressive head with parallel toplines of skull and  muzzle.  Correct head proportions with tapered muzzle and tight lips. Ears carried high and used well.   On the move she moved with brisk short strides.  Although lacking in coat due to her recent litter, her overall breed type could not be ignored.

2nd  - Davies’ Rochus Lottie – at almost 5 years old this o/w bitch is a definite cob with a workmanlike appearance.  Short back and loin with the correct slight slope to her topline.  Muscular shoulders with correct angulation and a strong forechest.  Typical head with slightly rounded skull, well set ears and correct proportions to both skull and muzzle. Deep chest with brisket to elbow and well rounded ribcage.  Moved well with brisk short stride.

3rd – Hammond’s Nellcote de la Riviere Ouareau

Class SO – PETER GREEN MEMORIAL SPECIAL OPEN DOG OR BITCH (11,2)

1st – Southorn’s SH CH Rochus Juliet – Almost 6 year old o/w bitch.  A quality bitch who really stood out for me on the day.  She presented a lovely square cobby outline with good length of leg, short back and short, strong loin. Well rounded ribcage with deep chest, muscular shoulders and correct angulation front and rear.  Slightly sloping topline from withers to croup which was held well on the move.  A lovely expressive head, slightly rounded from front side and above with the correct proportion of head to muzzle. Ears carried high with a moderate stop.   She moved well around the ring with a typical brisk gait.   I was really pleased to see her go on to win a very well deserved Best in Show later in the day.

2nd – Cutler’s Tarward Laura at Jayricnbrits – 5 year old o/w bitch.  A smaller exhibit than 1, but also well proportioned and with a  square, cobby appearance.  Moderately boned. Good depth of chest and  well maintained topline. Strong forechest and neat, compact feet.  Very pretty head with expressive eyes in harmony with coat colour.  Ears set high and used well. Topline of skull and muzzle both parallel with correct head proportions and  tapered muzzle.  Moved well with short, brisk strides.

3rd – Cook’s Highclare Only One Avec Tailliside
