JARROW & HEBBURN CANINE SOCIETY – Sunday 9th February 2020

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge and special thanks to my ring steward. Storm Dennis certainly caused some travel disruptions and absentees, so many thanks to those exhibitors that made the journeys.

GSP

Graduate (5,2abs):

1st – Mann’s VALJAR RAGNAR JW – 18mth old dog who appealed for overall type and superb quality. A super masculine head flowing into well made front quarters. Lovely bone and neat feet. Solid topline and body developing nicely, well ribbed back. Beautiful muscle tone throughout. Excellent rear assembly which propelled him effortlessly around the ring. Turned out in lovely condition, a joy to judge, will watch his career with interest. BOB

2nd Cox’s CUSHATLAW SERENDIPITY – 14mth old pretty headed bitch with kind expression. Excels in neck and forehand. Well ribbed body and short loin. Good turn of stifle. Not as positive behind as winner. Turned out in good hard condition.

3rd Drew’s ARCHERPOINT NATIVE DANCER - Well proportioned head for her age, clean neck and flowing lines. Good bone and feet. Well ribbed body. Firm topline. Moving soundly. BP

Open (1):

1st – Cox’s SH CH CUSHATLAW IRRESISTABE Jw ShCM – 6yr old bitch who is a worthy champion. Very pretty headpiece and dark eyes. Flowing outline, decent made front and depth of chest. Well sprung ribs with correct short loin. Well let down quarters with good muscle tone. Turned out in lovely condition. Moving soundly.

Golden Retrievers

Puppy (4,1):

1st Trotter’s BARICIA BELLA DONNA – this bitch caught my eye instantly. A super outline on the stack. Upon closely examination she didn’t disappoint, a beautiful head and expression. Super reach of neck flowing into correct shoulder placement. Great depth of chest and spring of ribs for her tender age of 10months. Level topline which she held beautifully on the move. Excellent rear quarters and second thigh. Just needs to strengthen in muscle tone behind which will come with development. Turned out in a super jacket. Pleased to award her BP & BOB. Lovely to hear she went on to win the Puppy Group too.

2nd – Bennet’s CATRIGG META – 11mth old bitch of different type to 1st. An overall pleasing head, straight front and good bone and feet. Body developing nicely and short coupled. Decent rear angulation. She had a tendency to body roll on the move, which was spoiling her front and rear movement. In-between coats today.

3rd - McGuffie’s MILLTIMBER MY GIRL

Graduate (1):

1st – Robinson’s BARICIA EMPORIO DIAMOND JW – 2yr old male no mistaking his sex. For me he was a little heavy in back skull which spoiled his head proportions, but a lovely dark kind expression. Decent length of neck and well placed forehand. Super one and neat feet. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribcage. Level topline. Tended to carry his tail high on the move which detracted from his outline on the move. Turned out in excellent coat.

Limit (3):

1st Wred, Wicklow, Gibson’s CILLHANTAIN VERITA D’ORO – 4yr old dark coloured bitch with a feminine head and kind expression. Best of fronts in this class stood on super bone and tidy feet. Plenty of heart room in her deep chest and a well sprung ribcage. Firm level topline and well-proportioned rear. Just wish she had a bit more ‘zoom’ on the move today.

2nd Robinson’s LAMANCHA KEEP THE FAITH – masculine headed boy a good length of neck. Well off for bone. Well placed shoulder. Well ribbed back a little longer cast than ideal. Hard topline and well let down quarters. Turned out in lovely coat & condition. Not as positive in front as 1st.

3rd - McGuffie’s MILLTIMBER MAID OF THE MIST

Open (5,2):

1st Taylor’s STORMFORD HONEYSUCKLE ShCM – 7yr old bitch pretty head of correct proportions. A decent neck and shoulder placement, with correct return of upper arm. Lovely deep chest. Straight front with good bone. Well sprung ribs and muscular loin. Well made rear quarters with enough muscle tone. Turned out excellently in coat and condition. Moving soundly.

2nd – McGuffie’s MILLTIMBER ISLAND MIST 7yr old male with a masculine and dark eye. Adequate neck length, well laidback shoulder. Straight front. Well sprung ribs and a level topline. Level topline and a every wagging tail! Sound on the move going and coming.

3rd Gibson’s GILLBRYAN FAIRY DUST AT GEMMARIQUE

Weimaraner

Junior (1,1):

Graduate (2,1):

Open (4,2):

1st – Robson’s SH CH NEMRAC CONNIE AT ROBRICCI JW ShCM – a quality 5yr bitch who oozes quality from any angle with correct balance. The prettiest of heads of correct proportions. Clean neck into super front makeup. Super depth of brisket. Well sprung ribs set well back, muscular loin, level topline into excellent rear quarters. Well muscled throughout. Moving with drive and correct footfall easily around the ring. Shown in hard condition. A credit to her owners. BOB

2nd – Robson’s SH CH KALIMOR ARMANI AT ROBRICCI JW – owned by the same owners as 1st, and a lot of the same comments apply to this bitch, really splitting hairs between them. I’m sure they swap places on many an occasion. For overall balance the 1st bitch has the edge. Pretty as a picture this 3yr old bitch. Well put together front, slightly longer in loin. Hard topline. Excellent rear angulation with good second thigh. Well-developed body. Good bone and neat feet. Moving with super rear drive. A pleasure to judge.
