Whippets

Many thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge a lovely selection of Whippets at a really great venue. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. A couple of exhibits could have had more attention paid to their nails but overall the general the presentation was excellent.

Puppy (8/3abs)

1. Zoraden Bright Star. 11mth, Red Fawn Parti Male. Lovely to see how this youngster has come on, I previously judged him as a 6mth old minor puppy and he certainly didn't disappoint. He is maturing nicely and although he still has a puppy expression, his head has matured and his underjaw has developed well. Lovely curvy outline which flows underhand. Excellent feet, pasterns could have a little more spring but only by a few degrees. He moves soundly and effortlessly round the ring and his front movement which was a tad loose at 6 months has now settled to true whippet movement. BPIB

2. Ticks The Boxes At Turnstone. 9mth Brindle Male. A very elegant male puppy who was just going through a little bit of a leggy stage but everything is certainly in the right places. He has the most affectionate expression, a masculine head and lovely neat ears. Excellent length of neck. Another curvy youngster with a super underline. Slightly straighter in upper arm than 1 but this did not hinder his movement. True for and aft. Good moderate hind angles. Will watch his show career with interest.

3. Doddridge Secret Desire

Junior (4/2abs)

1. Kidaruka A Mothers Prayer. 17mth Fawn and White Male. Very similar in stamp to 1st in Puppy. Nice head with strong muzzle and beautiful expression. Good shoulders, however could do with a little more front infill. Lovely top line which was held on the move. Excellent hind angulation. Moved well.

2. Nevedith Cape Province. 9mth Brindle Male. A huge difference in maturity between 1 and 2 in this class. Up to size, attractively marked with a kind expression. Correctly set ears and long neck. Slightly straight in front assembly. Good length of ribbing and loin. Gentle arch over loin leading to nicely angulated hind quarters. Moved elegantly and very light on his feet.

Special Yearling (2)

1. Citycroft Grace Kelly Of Runnel JW. 23mth Fawn and White Female. Another that I have judged before as a puppy. Nice to see that she has kept all of he lovely qualities into adulthood, especially her wonderful size. Smooth flowing lines that really are a joy to go over. I love her front assembly, depth of chest and curvy topline. Presented in tip top, fit condition. Moved with drive and purpose, just a tad closer behind than my BOB, would have been Res. BOB, if there has been the place to award.

2. Southgrove Joy To The World At Zeglynn (Imp). 19mth Fawn Female. A really classic young bitch who was just a little nervous on the day. Presented in wonderful condition with a beautiful coat. She was just slightly taller than 1 but still a lovely size. Moved nicely but just dropped her topline on the move.

Post Graduate (6/1abs)

1. Runnel Run For Fun. Rising 4yo Fawn Male. Looking back over the past few years I have had the pleasure of judging him 3 times at various stages of his adolescence and it really has been a pleasure. He has matured into a classic, elegant male whippet. Great for size. His outline has strengthened of which he holds on the move. His natural rhythm on the move makes him a joy to watch. As said before, he could be a little tidier coming towards but still a lovely dog to have in a class.

2.Dejare Would You Believe At Zeglynn ShCM. 6.5yo Fawn Male. This dog has the most amazing coat, it is like the softest silk. Longer and taller in stamp to 1. Handsome head with a kind and mild expression. Long gently arched neck. Smooth topline leading to lovely hind angles and well let down hocks. Moved soundly and effortlessly around the ring.

3. Lawrence Von Anluna's To Arjuna (Imp)

Open Dog (3/1abs)

1. Glantam Genesis At Arjuna. 3.5yo Fawn Male. Elegant male with a really lovely outline and beautiful head. Nicely filled front with deep brisket and smooth shoulders. Balanced angles fore and hind. Good spring of pastern and nice neat feet. Best mover in class, covers a lot of ground.

2. Hollyland It Must Be Love. 3.5yo Red Fawn and White Male. Much larger in substance to 1. Masculine head with kind expression and correct ears. A strong dog throughout. Presented in fit hard condition. Curvy top and underlines. strong pasterns and neat feet. A tad untidy in hind movement but excellent side gait.

Open Bitch (3/1abs)

1. Turnstone Mamma Mia. 6.5yo Fawn Bitch. I just fell in love with her as soon as she entered the ring. I don't think you could find a more whippety whippet if you tried. The most beautiful classic head with eyes that you could look into all day. So nice to such a feminine head with a good strong underjaw. Excellent for size, correct amount of bone and substance yet so elegant. Long gently arched neck onto smooth shoulders and beautiful front assembly. Curvy tuck up and flowing lines. Balanced when stacked and on the move. Straight as a die fore and aft. Portraits the perfect daisy cutting whippet action on the move with no exaggeration. BOB. She went beautifully in the group considering it was a long wait, very surprised she didn't place

2. Clynecourt Colour Me Cool. 3.5yo Brindle Bitch. Another very feminine bitch who covers a lot of ground. Slightly taller than 1. Pretty head with lovely pigmentation. Neat ear set and beautiful long neck. Good Front assembly and deep brisket. Flowing lines on top and underneath. Lovely balance of rib and loin with a super tuck up. Moderately angulated behind and super feet. Moved nicely.
