Retriever (Flat Coated)
Post Grad 3
1st Lewin’s Rodsdream First Choice for Vynesbrook – what a cracking young dog to start my day’s judging. Fabulous outline & correct angulation. Correct headpiece with intelligent expression, deep chested & well ribbed body, moderate angulation in stifle & hocks well let down, moved well for one still to mature. I am sure he is destined for top honours! Only lost out on the breed today to the ring presence & maturity of the open dog. RBOB
2nd Powell’s Bonnyhilbrae Love of Joy JW slightly older bitch than 1st, everything in the right place. wonderful temperament, her tail never stopped wagging! Similar attributes to the winner I just preferred the quality of the winner.
Open 3 (1)
1st Millbank’s Kvicksans Eye of The Storm of Larksdown 5yr old outstanding male in his prime! Stood on the best of legs & feet, racy & balanced in outline, great headpiece with intelligent expression, another with a deep chest & the best of movers with well-muscled rear quarters, just oozing quality, I loved him BOB & Group 2.
2nd Grenville-Payne’s Raynestone Catherine, 3rd in the previous class. For me she still needs to mature & tighten up, well presented.
Spaniel (Field)
Puppy 2 (1)
1st Webber’s Fecimus Golden Opportunity for Trevoris 7 month old bitch with a well chiselled noble head, correct dark eye, strong muscular neck, in good coat & condition just lacking in a bit of confidence today, BP
Yearling 3
1st Harding’s Kingsmist Miss Marple JW black bitch, for me her outline was classic Field Spaniel with the correct leg length. Head full of quality, dark eye & gentle expression, deep chest, moderate ribs, moved well true. Her time will come.
2nd Webber’s Fecimus Star Trooper at Trevoris, Liver male, for me id like a little more length of leg, however still a well-made Field, so well-muscled quarters & neck. Moved ok
Post Graduate 3
1st Reece’s Magic Du Kreizker at Broomeece (Imp Fra) 3yr old liver bitch, well handled by her young handler. Correctly sized for me, expressive eyes, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, ribs well back, straight forequarter RBOB.
2nd Harding’s Kingsmist Miss Marple JW 1st in previous class.
Open 2 (1)
1st Harris’ Kingsmist Panther black & no doubting he is male, another presenting the classic breed outline, masculine in head but not overdone, dark expressive eye, correct chiselling & stop, strong long neck into well laid shoulders, stood on best of legs & feet, coat gleaming & moved out well. BOB

Puppy 9 (4)
1st Harper’s Metropolis Patriarch Nexus By Pitswarren (AI) (Imp Aus) – my star of the day, just oozes quality from the tip of his well-developed nostrils to the end of his tail, a Vizsla straight out of the top drawer! I have been fortunate to have seen many of the top Vizsla’s (in recent times) & this young man is right up there. 9 months old & so well developed already, medium sized gently mannered with a lean & noble head. Strong muscular neck into well laid shoulders, level back, short & again well-muscled rear quarters used to advantage to gracefully power around the ring to win this class. BP, BOB, PGP1, GP 1 & BPIS
2nd Warnes’ Debian Driving Miss Daisy, another Vizsla, feminine throughout & another of correct size good length of neck into well laid shoulders moved ok.
Yearling 6 (2)
1st Northard’s Oh Sancha Vom Hause Kristo (Imp Fra) Spanish water dog, 14mth bitch who drew my eye she stood there with everything in the right place, medium sized, short muscular neck set well into shoulders, deep chest well sprung ribs, sound mover, did not put a foot wrong.
2nd Baker’s Silverbriar Rowena, black Labrador bitch correctly sized & carrying the correct weight for me, intelligent expressive eyes, clean strong neck, correct coat & “otter tail” which never stopped wagging, sound mover
Post Graduate 5 (3)
1st Caffel & Kavanagh’s Hushwing Louboutin to Doberway GWP liver & white bitch, loved her size & type, moved around the ring like she owned it! Well balanced skull, typical in eye, strong neck, deep ribs which were well sprung, strong thighs well muscled which she used to advantage, harsh coat. RBOB
2nd Long’s Borderoak Dill Cowslip no doubting this male B/W GSP. Best conditioned dog of the day, clean head, dark eye, lovely angles he was just out moved by the winner today.
Open 11 (5)
1st Warne’s Debian Domination male Vizsla, correct size well muscled rear quarters. Adequate neck, cat like feet, was the best mover in this class.
2nd Hayne’s Graygees Skyhawk in Rebeldye Liver & White well made GSP bitch in great condition. Feminine head with soft & intelligent expression, everything in the right place just preferred winners movement.

Puppy 13 (8)
1st Bishop’s Dyrham Desert Storm 9 mth old English Setter. Close decision between 1st & 2nd as I really liked them both, I just preferred the outline of this boy. Correct head piece with bright, expressive eyes, long muscular & lean neck, good bone to legs, well bent stifles moved out well.
2nd Dyrham Deja Vue litter English setter, litter sister to the winner & I now see why I liked them both. Similar attributes to 1, just slightly lighter in frame as one would expect for a bitch, but everything in the right place.
Post Graduate 10 (6)
1st Bowen-Brookes Tenshilling Blowin Smoke Pointer. B/W male, who won this class with his movement. Delightful headpiece & correct eye colour. Good length of neck into well laid back, sloping shoulders. Brisket well let down, great muscling to rear quarters.
2nd Beasley’s Wansleydale Amaretto, I thought this English Setter would be my winner. Elegant in outline, correct size, feminine head good length of neck, just not the movement of the winner.
Open 6 (2)
1st Shaw’s Testaverde Waiting for Anya Italian Spinone, presents a typical outline & went around the ring like she could work all day. Correct eye colour for coat, strong muscular neck into strong well laid shoulders.
2nd Wood’s Gablecross Sorcerer’s Son of Gydewood Golden Retriever, 9 years old but you wouldn’t know it by the way he moved around the ring, if it wasn’t for his slightly greying muzzle, I’d never have guessed. Correct well balanced chiselled head, well boned legs, balanced & short coupled in body, still enjoying his time in the ring at the end of a long day.
Gundog Group
Thank you to the officers & committee for inviting me to judge my first Gundog Group, as a “local boy” I thoroughly enjoyed my day.
I had a good representation of the Group for me to chose from & my final 4 were all full of quality.
Group 1 Harper’s Metropolis Patriarch Nexus By Pitswarren (AI) (Imp Aus) Hungarian Vizsla, quality exhibit still showing his socks off to win this quality Gundog Group, pushed hard by the Flatcoat.
Group 2 Millbank’s Kvicksans Eye of The Storm of Larksdown Flat Coated Retriever, really pushed the winner close.
Group 3 Prangle’s Heathclare American Dollar JW ShCM Irish Setter Upstanding dog of a type that appeals to me. Head long & lean with raised brow, moderately deep muzzle, long muscular neck set cleanly into shoulders. Deep chested & ribs well sprung carried well back to strong loin. Firm topline, which he kept when moving freely around the ring, not in his best jacket today.
Group 4 Gregg’s Laurelhach Yarra Gordon Setter.
Gundog Puppy Group

Group 2 Collin’s Dyrham The Artful Dodger From Chilworth -English Setter
