PREMIER OPEN SHOW 15TH FEBRUARY 2020

GREAT DANES

Thank you for the support and the great entry of 21. There were a few absentees, no doubt due to the inclement weather. Thank you to those who managed to get to the show.

PUPPY D/B (6,3)

1. ANNADANES TURKANA. An old fashioned type here with good overall balance. She has a very good temperament with no hint of nervousness which certainly helped her to win this class. She has a good eye and excellent lips, hanging squarely and not loose and low, like so many here today. On the move she was sound and held a top-line whilst covering some ground with ease in the smaller than ideal ring. BPIB

2. EPPWOOD INDIANA. I really liked the type of this youngster. She has a really feminine and balanced head, a good outline with enough depth for her age. She was just not settled and didn’t help her handler at all today and had to pay the price, as did the very stylish and well-made young male in third spot.

3. JUTLANDS BEAM ME UP. He’s a very good future prospect if he simply gets his act together as he has lots to like in so many departments. Today, he just didn’t want to play ball and was another who paid the price.

JUNIOR (7,2)

1. SANTANNA SPECIAL LEGACY AT JUSTINIAN. He’s fairly mature for his age and substantially built with a super front, excellent bone and very good cat-like tight feet with well-arched toes. He has a good lay of shoulder and a strong flowing outline with well-muscled quarters and he moved true and showed easy extension in side-gait. His head is masculine, balanced and he has the right expression with some chiselling and the correct lips, underline and plains. BOB. I was pleased to hear that he later went on to win Group 3.

2. ANNADANES TURKANA

3.  JUTLANDS BEAM ME UP.

OPEN DOG (4,1)

1. CARSAN VINCENT. He headed a class of good males. A different type, he scored for me today on head and expression, with the right flews, a keen eye and good enough front with correctly placed feet. On the move he was very sound. Res BOB.

2. DAINMAJIK THE WIZARD. I really did love the flowing outline and superb shoulders of this male. He is substantially made and has excellent depth with a firm top-line and good carriage. Today, I felt that his lips and expression weren’t quite to my taste as the winner. He moved OK.

3. GRIFFINDANE ATHOS.

OPEN BITCH (5,3)

1. JUTLANDERS ARE YOU READY JW. This female is a beautiful type and has a really classically lovely head and expression with no coarseness and with good lips and chiselling. She has very good depth to her fore-chest with lovely bone to her legs and excellent tight and well-padded feet.  I would just prefer a little touch more layback of shoulder to give her the flowing outline I was looking for today. She moved soundly and was close up.

2. DAINMAJIK THE SCORCERESS ShCM. This veteran bitch pushed the winner, scoring in an outstanding flowing outline with first-class lay of shoulder and super carriage. A credit to her owner for her age, just not quite the accuracy today on the move but she impressed me greatly.
