YKC (Young Kennel Club) Handling Classes

Class C - YKC Age 6-11 years (4:2)

1 Danielle Wilson ( Tibetan Terrier)

A fantastic handler, calm & composed. Excellent demonstration of handling skills and presentation. Danielle was constantly aware of where the judge was and never obstructed my view on any occasion which included walking into to ring. She listened carefully to the judges instructions. Danielle and her dog moved at the same pace. Allowing me to see the beautiful movement of her dog. She executed her triangle and straight up and down seamlessly using the whole ring to her advantage. She was handling a lively young dog which became unsettled from noises outside the ring in the final line up. However Danielle gave the dog reassurance allowing her to quickly stack the dog back into the standing position almost immediately.

2 Dylan Evans (Rottweiler) Another fantastic young handler. Polite focused & unfussy. He stood his dog very well, correcting the position almost immediately. He spoke to his dog kindly yet firm which allowed the dog to respond to him. This young handler had his work cut out as his dog was a powerful friendly giant yet he handled the task calmly & effectively. The movement of handler and dog were in unison and his pattern work was good, not quite as accurately executed as the handler awarded first place. Both handlers I’m sure have an excellent handling career a head of them and both were a joy to watch

YKC (Young Kennel Club) Handling Classes

Class D - YKC Age 12-16 years (7:5)

This class was an extremely strong class. Astounding quality of handlers making it a very very close & difficult choice. Any of the 5 handlers could of won. For the first time ever I wished I could of given them all first place, sadly that’s not possible. I cannot praise these young handlers enough. These handlers all have a very bright showing career a head of them.

1 Erin Williams (Golden Retriever)

What a fabulous handler. Polite, calm, composed, and confident. If she was nervous I certainly couldn’t tell. Erin and her dog had a wonderful rapport from entering the ring. She talked to her dog giving clear instruction-which the dog eagerly responded too. She presented the dog perfectly, allowing the judge to go over the dog not obstructing the judges view at any time. Erin executed the pattern work with provide angles listening to the judge’s instructions and carrying them out precisely. She moved at one with her dog using the whole ring to demonstrate her handling skills which allowed her to get the best from her dog at all times. In the final line up she gave other handlers space and presented her dog perfectly. Excellent handler pleased to award her 1st place

2 Katherine OBrien (Wirehaired Pointer)

A close second Katherine & her young Pointer puppy didn’t disappoint. She was a very polite and unfussy handler who presented her lively puppy excellently. Correcting the standing position immediately when necessary. She spoke to her dog with calmness and the dog responded immediately. She executed clean straight lines doing the pattern work. Listening to the judges instructions. On the move she was aware of the dogs ability and used the whole ring to her advantage maintaining the correct speed for the dog at all times. In the final line up the dog was a little excitable however she quickly calmed the dog and presented it to the judge in the correct standing position. Another excellent handler with a great future

3 Lisa Black (whippet)

Lisa another unfussy handler with great talent. Her dog on the day was nervous and unsettled yet Lisa was fully aware of what was going on and her abilities as a handler allowed for her to calmly reassure the dog and control the situation, which worked to her merit. She executed the triangle and straight up and down nicely. She quietly encouraged the dog all the way around the ring allowing the judge to see partnership between dog and handler and the dog move gracefully. Lisa listened Carefully to the judges instructions at all times and gave other exhibitors space. In the final line up Lisa perfectly position her dog and spoke reassuringly to the dog so to hold position. A difficult task with a nervous and unsettled dog yet Lisa excelled.

Listening carefully to the judges instructions at all times. There was no occasion the judges view was obstructed and in the final line up positioned her dog perfectly
