Open Show 26th January 2020

Many thanks to the Committee, for inviting me to Judge at this very prominent show. I enjoyed my day very much. Special thanks to my Steward “Bruce” who looked after me very well and kept the ring flowing nicely. 

I would also like to thank the exhibitors for their entries and for the sporting way they applauded my decisions. All the dogs presented to me today were of quality & they all had lovely temperaments. 

ROUGH COLLIE PUPPY (1/1) 1ST Regan PHREELANCER PHIRST SONG 11 month Sable & White B. Very pretty, feminine head of nice proportions. Ears of perfect size and used well to give good expression. Sweet eye, confident in her manner. Well constructed & of sound conformation all over, a nice balanced picture when viewed in profile, movement was sound and sure and she was shown in lovely coat and condition. A promising puppy, good luck with her. BPIB 

ROUGH COLLIE POST GRADUATE (2/3) 1st Skinner SAMHAVEN TIME IS MONEY WITH NIKAL 5 years Tri B. Feminine head, dark eye with kind expression. Well set ears, used well. Front & rear angles are good. Level topline, slight rise over the loin. Moved freely around the ring, sound coming & going. Presented in good condition. Res BOB 2nd Scott WHATACOO THE ONE AND ONLY WITH ANIESH 19 month Tri D. Handsome head, dark kind eye. He used his ears well. Well bodied. He was presented in immaculate condition. His movement is still a little loose both front and rear, although he is still a youngster he has still to mature.  

ROUGH COLLIE OPEN (3/3) 1st Benton & Smith BROOKLYNSON EL DORADO 3 year Dark Sable & White D. Cracking head with balanced wedge, well moulded foreface with good underjaw. Kind, expressive dark eyes correctly placed, along with nicely positioned ears. Well arched neck into a nice lay of shoulder; he has nicely boned legs with lovely neat feet. His rear assembly is well angulated, nice short hocks. His tail is of good length and carried correctly. Moved smoothly around the ring, with purpose and drive. BOB 2nd Scott ANIESH TOUCH OF BLACK 5 years Tri D. Masculine head. Nicely angulated rear, short coupled. Well presented in good coat. Not as settled on the move. 3rd Skinner NIKAL IT’S GUD TO BE BLACK VW 

AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD PUPPY (2/2) 1st Wilson & Gibbons WISPAFETE DREAM COME TRUE FOR CLYNALWIN 7 month Red Merle B. What a cracking puppy, she caught my eye even before she came into the ring. A pretty & feminine head. She has an Inquisitive, mischievous expression. Full of character. Good body balance with ample bone and correct tight feet. Moved soundly with enthusiasm, covering the ground well. BPIB pleased to see her shortlisted in the Group. 2nd Harlow, Birkett, McDowell, Walsh BIRKCROSS MINE’S A TIA MARIA 8 month Tri B. Another lovely pup. Pretty head, kind expression. Nice bodyshape, level topline which she held on the move. Strong hocks, nicely angulated front & rear. Sound in movement. 

AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD JUNIOR (1/1) 1st Allan ALLMARK EBONY 17 month Tri D. I have admired this young dog from the side of the ring & wasn’t disappointed on going over him. He has a quality masculine head, with correct balance. A lovely gentle eye & kind expression. Gentle arch in neck which flows into a clean front assembly. Good fore chest, adequate ribbing, level top line which leads to a firm loin. He stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. He moves with purpose & drive around the ring. I had no hesitation in awarding him BOB & pleased to see him win Grp 3.

AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD OPEN (1/1) 1st Walsh THRONSHAVN MAIDE OF BLUE FOR ROSSCHELL (IMP POL) JW 19 month Blue Merle B. Feminine well balanced head, good eye shape. Ears well set. She has excellent front & rear angulation. Moderate oval shaped bone & nice tight feet, low set hocks. Firm topline Moved well with a smooth, easy action. Sound all ways. RBOB 

SMOOTH COLLIE POST GRAD (1/2) 1st Jerrett BLAMORDER SUNNY SKY 2 years Sable & White B. Feminine head, her expression was very pleasing, she exuded collie breed type with lovely head planes, flat skull, well placed dark almond shaped eye. ears well set & used to her advantage. Nice angulation front and back. Well developed in body and good length of back, moved well from all angles. RBOB 

SMOOTH COLLIE OPEN (2/3) 1ST Benton OAKSTELLE VENUS DE MILO 6 ½ years Blue Merle B. A lovely pretty head, with good proportions, well balanced throuout. Excellent length of neck. Well laid back shoulders. Excellent overall front construction. Lovely depth of chest and top line with a gentle rise over the loin. Balanced rear angulation, low hocks. Nice tail set. Lovely sound movement , effortless & light on her feet. In lovely condition. BOB 2nd Smith MULTI CH WINTER IS COMING TO TENTOLA 3 ½ years Blue Merle D. He has a super masculine head, with excellent head planes, flat skull , correct stop, pleasant expression. Good ears which he used well. He is well angulated front and rear, with a deep chest, well sprung ribs, good length of back. Coat of correct texture. He moved a little erratic from behind today which was disappointing, he did not show himself off to his full advantage.  

WELSH CORGI (PEMBROKE) PUPPY (1/1)1st Irving TWINAN FINGER LICKIN GOOD 6 month Red & White B. What a pretty baby, she has a pretty, feminine head. Well set ,round ears, which she used to her advantage. Ample bone, front legs straight & elbows held close to her sides. Level topline. Deep chest. Moved out well, sound & steady. BPIB Puppy Grp 3. I wish you all the best with her, I’m sure you will do well.  

WELSH CORGI (PEMBROKE) OPEN (2/3) 1st Irving TWINAN SHAKE THE TREE JW 18 month Red & White B. Feminine and full of quality. She has a super expression & lovely round eyes. Well-laid shoulders, deep chest, strong loins of good length. Beautiful in profile with strong bone. Balanced throuout. Sound in movement at all angles. BOB 2nd Warner MEITZA ERIK THE KING JW 2 years Tri D. He has an attractive masculine head. His expression is cheeky & mischievous. Good bone, deep chest & well angulated forequarters, well sprung ribs. Moved soundly, with purpose and drive. RBOB

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG PUPPY (1/1) 1st Bastiani & John LIRREN SHOWTIME JOINS AUBERSWELL 11 months Tri D. Balanced masculine head, well placed ears of which he was happy to use. Deep chest. Well sprung ribs. Laid back shoulders. Well coated & presented in lovely condition. He moved gracefully around the ring, he was sound coming & going. A lovely pup, I’m sure you will have fun with him. BPIB & BOB 

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG JUNIOR (1/2) 1st Winfield AVENTURINE BOHEMIA CLASSIC JOINS OAKCROFT (IMP CZE) 17 month Sable & White D. Balanced head, sweet expression. Well set ears. Pleasing head carriage & length of neck. He has well angulated hind quarters, hocks well let down. He moved soundly around the ring, with positive drive from the rear. A glamorous wee dog, he was presented in beautiful coat & condition. RBOB  

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG POST GRADUATE (3/4) 1st Winfield AVENTURINE BOHEMIA CLASSIC JOINS OAKCROFT (IMP CZE) 2ND Walley SANDWICK SHOWGIRL 20 months Sable & White B. Well named, sweet head with equally sweet expression. Excellent eye shape & well set ears. Sound in movement. 3rd Moore SANSCOTT SWEET EDITION 

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG OPEN (2/2) 1st Moore SANSCOTT LIMITED EDITION 2 year Sable & White B. Feminine, well balanced head. Well set ears. Level topline, good angles fore & aft. Moved soundly. Wearing a lovely jacket, immaculately presented. 2nd Walley SANDWICK PRIMA DONNA 5 years Tri B. Pretty head, kind expression. Sweet nature. Presented in lovely condition. Sound in movement, but not as confident on the move as 1st.
