Firstly, I would like to thank Dukeriers Gundog Club for Inviting me to my first ever judging appointment and my steward who help run the ring so smoothly. Also, a big thank you to all the exhibitors for giving me such a superb entry, which I really enjoyed judging.

I was pleased with the overall quality. Movement on the whole was very good, temperaments were excellent

Although the building was very cold and the ground very uneven, the dogs managed well as they should.

PD/PB, (2,2)

1st, Miss A Bell & Miss N Maddox, TOLRIVER ENZO AT OWLPOINT.. 10-month-old Chestnut boy with a nice head with good planes. Well balanced with good depth of chest reaching the elbow, elbows tight fitting to the chest. stood on strong hocks, Straight front, Well balanced and square with nice bone and well-muscled. lovely tight feet. Covered the ground with drive and reach. (BP)

2nd, Mrs A Morris, DEFALCO BRUNNO.... Only just 6 months old O/W boy and how you would expect a puppy of this age to be. Very nice head and eyes with a gentle expression. I did find him slightly long in body and narrow on the rear but has oodles of forechest in a puppy so young. Movement was erratic but this will come with age.

1st, Miss A Bell & Miss N Maddox, TOLRIVER ENZO AT OWLPOINT.. As above

2nd, Mr I Sladden, EBANO DELL'OLTRESAVIO AT CANEMAMANS (Imp).. 14-month-old White/Chestnut boy of the correct colour. A very pleasing head and lovely soft noble expression. Square in profile. This boy is not shy of bone but not overdone. His chest still needs to come but at his young age has time. I did find him lacking strength in the rear making him a little cow hocked effecting his movement.

1st, Mrs M J Critchley, BRACCORION'S NEVER SAY NEVER JW... 18-month-old Chestnut bitch. This girl caught my eye immediately. A lovely quality girl with a very pleasing head and expression with correct head planes. Excellent spring of rib with straight front and a nice deep chest, tight elbows fitting into the chest. Stood on strong hocks with good rear angulation. Nice and square in body, well-muscled, moved out confidently with drive covering the ground with ease. with the correct topline. (BOB)

2nd, Mr m R & Mrs C R Sanderson, OWLSPOINT TROUBLE AGAIN JW... 19-Month-old white/chestnut Male. I would not like him any taller as he is already hitting the high end of the scale. I did find his handler does over stretch him which takes the squareness and rear angulation away. That said he has a wonderful soft expression and a masculine head of correct proportion. Nice deep chest with well spring ribs. Top line held on the move with good reach.

1st, Mr m R & Mrs C R Sanderson, OWLSPOINT TROUBLE AT MILL Bwnl'18 Sh.CM ShCEx. ... 3-year-old O/W male, A nice masculine head with a lovely expression Almost square body with good bone. Deep chest with tight elbows, well sprung ribs and correct topline that held on the move, nice underline. nice rear angulation with strong hocks. Well-muscled with tight feet. Moved well and covered the ground nicely (RBOB)

2nd, Mr I Sladden, TYRBECHGYN BELIEVE YOU WILL AT CANEMAMANS. 19-month-old O/W male. Younger than 1st so not yet got his maturity, this will come in time. Slightly longer in body and would like a little less tuck up but has good depth of chest and correct strong topline. Masculine head with good head planes, would prefer tighter eyes but has a lovely expression. Good rear angulation. Covered the ground well.

JD/B, (3,3) … 1st AFFILATO LOVE ME TENDER, 15 moth old w/o bitch. Lots to like about this bitch... An eye-catching girl with a balanced square outline, very mature for her age with a beautiful feminine head and wonderful gentle expression and lovely eyes. Excellent divergent planes and depth of muzzle. Strong neck and shoulders with plenty of oval bone with nice angulation front and rear., correct thick leathery skin with a lovely deep chest and well sprung ribs. well-muscled and presented in excellent condition, Ease of movement which was positive and free with plenty of drive whilst keeping her topline , (RBOB)

2nd. LAJATICO AIDA, 13-month-old B/R bitch. Not the maturity of 1st but a well-balanced girl with a feminine head and soft expression. Has good depth of muzzle and good oval bone. A well-muscled rear with correct thickness of skin. Well sprung ribs with plenty of forechest. Lovely coat textured but find her too dark in colour. Not the movement of 1st but moved well.

2nd, PROTTINO DEL SAVONA PESCA BY DEWDHALA, 2-year-old w/o bitch. Nice and square once settled with good head planes and nice expression. She was rather distracted as keeping an eye on her companion out of the ring, this affected her all over performance which was such a shame.

OD/B (4,4) … 1st Sh Ch INSTRICANI FIORELLA JW Sh.CM ShCEx, 5-year-old o/w bitch. Another bitch with lots to like about her, can look a bit long on the stand and it’s only when you get your hands on her do you really appreciate what she has to offer. A balanced well boned girl with a melting expression and lovely eyes, Feminine head with excellent divergent planes and depth of muzzle. strong neck with well-placed shoulder with good depth of chest, well sprung ribs with thick leathery skin. Well-muscled with good front and rear angulation. Excellent coat texture. Ease of movement covering the ground well (BOB) I was splitting hairs between RBOB and BOB, and my decision came down to coat preference.

2nd … PROTTINO DEL VERA BY DEWDHALA, 2-year-old w/o bitch. Though this girl did give her handler a workout as she was slightly distracted with what was happening out of the ring. Excellent square outline with a pleasing feminine head and soft expression. Good divergent head planes with depth of muzzle and nicely sprung ribs with thick skin. Good bone with nice angulation. Unsettled on the move which did affect her movement.
