Isle Of Ely Canine Society

Isle of Ely CS (01/02/2020)

My thanks to the committee for the invitation; I was so thrilled to be able to receive such a numerically strong entry across all 4 breeds. Thank you to all of the exhibitors who supported the show and to my two stewards, Diane Rourke-Knights and Barbara Gentleman who made my day all the more enjoyable with their efficiency and most pleasant manner!

GSD Puppy (5,1)

1) Green’s, Felsental Elite. 7 month old black/rich gold male, medium size with strong bone and good proportions. For me, this dog is very age appropriate and has the promise to mature well. Strong head with dark eyes and firm ears which he used to advantage. High wither, upper arm is long but slightly steep. Supple pasterns and good feet for age. Firm topline and pronounced underline. Croup is of good length but a little steep. Well off for hind angulation. Firm on his elbows coming towards but needs to strengthen on his hocks going away. Once he settled, he covered the ground with a long, easy stride retaining his shape. BPIB

2) Vorrias’, Windgunn Matheos. 8 month black/pale gold male, medium size, medium strength of slightly stretched proportions. Good strength to head with firm ears and dark eyes. Normal wither with a steeper upper arm. Strong topline which flows onto a short and flat croup. Correct hind angulation. Well schooled on the move showing good co-ordination going and coming with a balanced side gait. I just felt he levelled out and did not retain the shape he first presented on the stack.

3) Beresford’s, Hamadryas Isolde for Karmavonbez.

GSD Junior (3,0)

1) Gledhill’s, Milanhugel Class Act. This 16 month old black/rich gold male ticked the boxes for me today. Absolutely medium size, strong and very well proportioned. Strong well-proportioned head with dark eyes and firm well set ears. Good reach of neck onto a high wither with a long but slightly steep upper arm. Strong, straight forelegs with good pasterns and feet. Firm topline, slightly flat croup but of decent length. Symmetrical hind angulation, absolutely sound both ways with a long reaching side gait retaining his wither height. His handler struggled to rein in his passion to move at times but nothing a little more training cannot correct. Today he clinched BOB on his overall correct breed type, balance and soundness, BOB, congratulations!

2) Fisher’s, Kintaro Lady Sansa. 14 month old black/pale gold bitch, upper medium size with a refined balance of strength and femininity. She is slightly rangy at present, which is to be expected at this age, but her clean flowing lines were most appealing. Ultra feminine, well proportioned head which could still develop in breadth and strength all through. Decent height to wither with good length and angle of upper arm. Firm topline onto a long and well moulded croup. Excellent rear angulation. Needs to tighten a little coming towards and is correct going away. Shows excellent reach and good hind thrust in profile but can lose her wither height.

3) Kearnan’s, Bertha vom Erdinger.

GSD Post Graduate (4,1)

1) Miller’s, Arrocheyn Kharma. A very glamorous 23 month old long coat black/gold bitch. Medium size, medium strength of very good proportions. Most appealing head, feminine with refined strength. Dark eyes and firm well-set ears. Forehand assembly is correctly constructed with a high wither. Would prefer her to have more width right through her quarters and needs to finish maturing in body. Clean, flowing overline with a pronounced underline. Excellent hind angles with a short but well moulded croup. A shade close both ways with the most easy side gait, retaining her wither. The lack of maturity in body cost her today but she pushed all the way!

2) Gledhill’s, Sadira Beau vom Milanhugel. 3.5 years rich black/gold bitch. Medium size, medium strength of excellent type with good bone and proportions. Feminine head with well set ears which she needed to use to advantage. Good wither height and length/angle of upper arm. Firm back with good spring of rib and correct underline. Excellent hind angulation with strong hocks. Sound both ways and showed balanced reach and drive but did not show any commitment during her movement with a tendency to pace which cost her dearly. A great shame, I really liked her!

3) Foreman’s, Suzdans Blue Raffaello.

GSD Open (3,1)

1) Mullard & Barnes’, Kintaro Zaragoza. 3.5 year old rich black/gold male. He is strong, well-boned, upper medium size with excellent bone and proportions. Strong head of good proportions with well set ears and dark eyes. His front assembly really appealed with a super length and angle of upper arm and developed forechest. Good height of wither onto a firm back and excellent spring of rib. Croup is long but a shade steep with symmetrical hind angulation. Sound both going and coming and covers the ground well in profile but can lose his wither if he is allowed to pull away on the go round. His soundness and overall maturity clinched RBOB today!

2) Kearnan’s, Rosebud Daenerys Ir Jun Ch. This young bitch gave a lot away in age, medium size, medium strong of stretched proportions. Very pretty correctly proportioned head with well set ears. Normal wither, good layback of shoulder but a little short in upper arm. Good depth of brisket to leg length. Firm back, long croup. Well angulated rear. She tended to be close both ways but covers the ground well in profile. Needs to body up with age and grow her jacket again.

German Wirehaired Pointer Puppy (1,0)

1) Jenkins & Warner’s, Klancraig Morse for Gersenfeld. A debut appearance for this solid liver dog who presented a very raw picture. He possesses good bone with a really appealing head and expression with amble furnishings. His angles are balanced with a strong topline but needs to develop in body and coat as he matures. Shows glimpses of co-ordinated and true movement from all angles but needs his enthusiasm gradually tamed to show his full potential. BPIB, congratulations!

German Wirehaired Pointer Junior (1,0)

1) Jenkins & Warner’s, Glenquin Artemis for Gerstenfeld. 16 month old bitch of really appealing type & shape. She possesses very good proportions and balance of front and hind angulation. Pretty head and expression with ample furnishings. Strong topline and underline with strong bone and feet. Easy, accurate and stylish from all directions. Just preferred the coat of my Open winner, would like to see her in a year! RBOB

German Wirehaired Pointer Open (3,0)

1) Jenkins’, Ch. Kimmax Koming Home at Gerstenfeld ShCM. This 5 year old bitch immediately caught my eye from the moment she walked into the ring. Excellent type and overall shape. Well proportioned, feminine head with good furnishings. Good reach of neck onto a well laid shoulder with good return of upper arm. Pronounced forechest with well boned legs and feet. Excels in maturity through her body with well sprung ribs, deep brisket and well developed underline. She can soften in her topline on the stack on occasions. Super hind angulation with breadth over her quarters. Unbeatable on the move today with precise front & hind action with an easy side gait carrying herself so well. In good coat, pleased to award her BOB, congratulations!

2) Boreham’s, Quajalosh Flora. 2.5 year old bitch from a more compact mould than 1. Like her obvious combination of strength and femininity. Her head planes are longer than 1 but correctly proportioned with good facial furnishings. Slightly more moderate but balanced angulation fore and aft with an excellent topline and well bodied up. Steady and accurate on the move from all angles. Her coat has density but would prefer better texture.

3) Lovatt’s, Beechillawn Amarillo Starlight of Shirostar CJW19.

Golden Retriever Puppy (11,4)

1) Seamons’, Messano Kiss Me Now. This mid-gold bitch immediately appealed for her good proportions, bone and excellent shape. Loved her feminine head with melting expression. Good reach of neck leading onto a good layback of shoulder but would prefer a better return of upper arm. Age appropriate body depth to leg length with well developed brisket and ribs for age. Strong topline with her tailset creating a continuous line. Good hind angulation with short hocks which she used to drive around the ring with the most delightful style and panache when viewed from the side. She was equally pleasing when viewed going away and coming towards always lashing her tail and retaining her lovely outline. Very pleased to award her BPIB, congratulations!

2) Smith’s, Rocamoka Funky Business. Another mid-gold bitch whose shape and proportions were of great appeal. Built on slightly lighter boned and smaller lines than 1. Beautiful head with dark eyes and good pigment. Her angulation fore and aft was well balanced with a level topline and correct tailset. Another accurate mover for her age who uses her tail at all times.

3) Golder’s, Gembaek’s Play That Funky Music (Imp) NAF TAF.

Golden Retriever Junior (2,0)

1) Mason’s, Mavistan Rambling Rose Through Nosam. This 13 month old pale bitch is very together on the stack for her age. Her type and shape is easy on the eye with good proportions and bone. Very feminine head with good stop and pigment. Good reach of neck onto a well constructed forehand with a well developed forechest for her age. Well sprung ribs and ample depth to her brisket. Topline completely level to the very end of her correctly set tail. Corresponding hind angulation with lovely short hocks. On the move she shows her age needing to firm a little more going and coming but has a very easy, long reaching side gait retaining her outline and lashing her tail. I will follow her career with interest, pipped to the post by 2 dogs that were a little more together on the move!

2) Tuck’s, Tamsbrook That Lovin Feelin. Another pale, this 11 old month bitch is built on slightly longer and more substantial lines than 1. I really liked her ultra pretty head with ample strength while retaining her femininity with the darkest of eyes and pigment. Her angulation is balanced fore & aft with a level topline. Can have a tendency to pace on the move but once settled she is very steady when viewed from all directions.

Golden Retriever Graduate (9,4)

1) Wallington’s, Wynrita School Daze. I was rather taken with this mid gold dog on first appearance for his shape and substance. Loved his well shaped masculine head with a gentle expression, darkest of eyes and correct stop. His profuse coat can make him appear a little stuffy in neck, when you get your hands on him you can clearly feel his reach of neck is correct, I feel he would benefit from a bit more tidying up around his neck and front to help with this. His forehand assembly is absolutely correct with plenty of forechest. To be critical, I would say he could be considered a little heavy over the shoulders at the moment. Well sprung ribs and deep brisket with a perfectly level topline with the correct croup and tail set. His hind angulation is symmetrical to his front. This dog’s forte is his movement, he really flows on the go round with a long stride and is completely parallel both going and coming holding his topline and tail carriage. His excellent movement gave him the upper hand on the day and I was delighted to award him BOB and see him take G3.

2) Mason’s, Mavistan Rambling Rose Through Nosam.

3) Staniland’s, Terra Fiora Vlanti Delimar.

Golden Retriever Post Graduate (3,0)

1) Hush’s, Benrowan Esprit. This gold bitch commanded my attention from the first go-round with her well balanced, stylish side gait holding a correct topline and lashing tail. Very feminine head with the darkest of eyes and correct amount of stop. Best of fronts with the correct length and angle of upper arm and ample forechest. Mature in body with well sprung ribs and a short loin. Strong topline with flat croup and tail set. Well made rear quarters with good width and short hocks. Precise going and coming in excellent condition. She pushed my Graduate winner all the way, RBOB!

2) Booth’s, Rocamoka Wind Dreamer. I also really like this pale bitch for her overall type and shape. From a slightly larger and longer mould than 1 but still so delightfully feminine! Loved her well proportioned head with good stop, darkest or eyes and pigment. Very good reach of neck into a very good shoulder her upper arm is of good length but slightly steeper than my winner. Super level topline onto a flat croup and correct tail set. Very good spring of rib with a strong loin. Fabulous back end with correct angulation, breadth over her hips and short hocks. A good mover all round with precise front and hind action and uses her hocks well in profile but is slightly restricted in forward reach. She still retains a level topline and well carried tail.

3) Stainland’s, Johannson Saint Beatrich.

Golden Retriever Open Dog (4,1)

1) Foreman’s, Camestone Field Day at Ambersun. Gold dog of appealing type and strength. Masculine head with a kind expression and dark eyes. Very good forehand with ample forechest. Excellent maturity through the body with well sprung ribs and a level topline. Corresponding rear angulation with good croup and tail set. This dog really loves to move and gave his handler a hard time today, once he settled to the task at hand he exhibited very good reach and drive with lots of panache on the go-round. His front and hind action was true and steady with a well carried tail.

2) Copley’s, Monchique Imperial Beau at Emmabe JW Ir Jun Ch. This pale dog excels in proportions and shape. His head was of great appeal with dark eyes and dark pigment to match. His fore and rear angulation was more moderate than 1 which tipped the scales in the favour of the winner. Super topline, croup and tail set. Steady and precise action going and coming with a balanced side gait. Well handled and presented on the day!

3) Wallington’s, Wynrita Keep A Dream.

Golden Retriever Open Bitch (4,2)

1) Enevoldsen’s, Voldene Solar Star. This gold bitch is so beautifully feminine with excellent bone and balance overall. Loved her head and expression with good angulation both fore and aft. Super topline, croup and tail set. Plenty of maturity in body, she moves steady and true from all angles holding her topline and using her tail well.

2) Booth’s, Alumbeck’s Holly Rainbow, this mid gold bitch also has such a feminine appearance throughout while still retaining good bone. Melting expression with dark eyes, good reach of neck with well developed forechest. Her angulation both fore and aft is balanced with a good length of leg. Although her croup was of good length it was a touch steeper than 1. Moved well from all directions and used her tail well.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Puppy (5,1)

1) Warren’s, Fieldranger’s Kula Khan. Really liked the strength and robustness of this well-coated youngster. Clean, slightly rounded skull of sufficient breadth for age with moderate stop. Good reach of neck onto an excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Wouldn’t want him any deeper in brisket at this stage with well developed ribs and short loin. Well set on tail with good rear angulation. On the move, he goes with a typical lowered head carriage showing good reach and drive from the side. Needs to firm up behind with age but very good coming towards. Tail carried well, in excellent condition. BPIB, congratulations!

2) Elkin’s, Tollelkin Caife Americano. This boy is at a different stage in his development to 1 but has lots of promise for the future. Masculine wedge shaped head with a clean skull and tapering muzzle. Good reach of neck onto an excellent layback of shoulder but felt he was a touch steeper in upper arm than 1. Good length of leg with enough brisket for age. Strong topline with a slightly sloping croup and correctly set tail. Well angulated in the rear with good breadth over his quarters. So precise going away but needing to firm up coming towards. Lowers his head on the go-around with lots of enthusiasm, retaining his topline and carrying his tail well.

3) West’s, Raynechaser Luna Eclipse.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Junior (7,3)

1) Warren’s, Fieldranger’s Kula Khan.

2) Elkin’s, Tollelkin Caife Americano.

3) Strevens’, Tollekin Caife Gaelach at Tollisty. Really liked the ultra-femininity of this bitch with balanced angulation fore & aft and a strong topline. Once settled her sound, jaunty gait was well demonstrated. Just needs to come on more in coat and body, would like to see her in a year!

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Post Graduate (8,2)

1) Warren’s, Fieldranger’s Kula Khan.

2) Elkin’s, Tollelkin Caife Americano.

3) Sharpe’s, Tivalake Crystal Ball at Rosettia JW AW(B) RL2. Another good one for type and proportions, she is an excellent jaunty mover demonstrating a lowered head carriage and sound front and hind action. Just preferred the overall body and robustness of the first 2, expertly handled!

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Open (7,1)

1) Strevens’, Sh Ch. Erikachen Conaire at Tollisty JW ShCM ShCEx. This dog appealed immediately for his medium size, excellent balance, breed type and proportions. Masculine wedge-shaped head with plenty of breadth over his slightly rounded skull with a tapering muzzle. His neck flows cleanly into a super forehand assembly and ample forechest. Strong topline with correct length of leg and strong loin. His rear angulation is symmetrical to his front with correct croup and tail set. He is true going and coming with such a wonderful side gait, jaunty and with a lowered head carriage, loved him! BOB, congratulations!

2) Newson’s, Tivalake Let’s Misbehave JW. Unlucky to meet his father today! Really appealed for his compactness, strength and medium size. Masculine wedge-shaped head with good shape and breadth to skull. Moderate stop and correct tapering to muzzle. Excellent forehand with good length and angle of upper arm with well developed forechest. Strong topline with correct length of leg. To be critical, I would prefer a little more bend of stifle. Croup and tailset is correct. He can be considered a little unassuming on the stack, on the move this dog is hard to not notice! Steady and sound both going and coming with a very determined, jaunty and ground covering side gait using his excellent front to advantage while demonstrating a typical lowered head carriage. RBOB, congratulations!

3) Elkin’s, Tollelkin Water Dancer.
