Whitehaven & District Canine Association

Many thanks to all the exhibitors who attended despite the situation with COVID19 which caused lockdown the following day, I totally appreciate why there was so many absentees and am grateful for all entries at this lovely show.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne

Puppy – 1 entry

1. McDonald-Ulliott & Butler’s Hibeck Freddie Flintstone – 7 month old dog who was a little overawed by the surroundings. Good shoulder placement. Correct ribbing. Well angulated rear. Moved very well being true coming and going and showing correct extension and drive in profile. Would like a little more bone throughout. BPIB & Hound Puppy Group 3.

Yearling – 1 entry

1. Revens & Hyde’s Blevwil World Class at Beabass - 16 month old dog with a strong head and cheeky expression. Well angulated at both ends and looks pleasing in profile movement. Drives well from behind just a little narrow in front for my liking.

1. Revens & Hyde’s Naya Do Cal Da Paderna at Beabass (IMP ESP) BE J CH BJWBE’18 BEJW’18 – nice 2yr old bitch with a good head and expression. Pleasing through the neck and shoulders. Good ribbing and tidy rear. Good on the move keeping her lovely outline at all times. BOB

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand)

1. Cooper & O’Brien’s Jayanel A New Chapter – 18 month nice type of bitch with a good head and ear. Strong neck leading into reasonable shoulders. Well angulated read which she used well on the move. Looked good in profile movement. BOB

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Post Graduate – 2 entries

1. Hall’s Matsushona Fire Opal of Cynami – 2yr old dog of a taller, rangier type than I usually prefer. Good head and strong neck. Shoulder placement ok. Well ribbed back and strong in body. Rear angulation balanced. Moved well showing good reach and drive.

2. Hall’s Msingi All About Me of Cynami – 16 month old bitch who was a little too fine for me. Good shoulders and topline. Well balanced rear. Moved well.

1. Hall’s Kenquince Pisonia of Cynami ShCM – 5yr old bitch of good type with an excellent head, good neck and shoulder. Correct in body. Moved well with a good outline. BOB

2. Scanlon’s Kinabula’s All About The Bass JW – good type of bitch but unfortunately wasn’t happy with her ear today and not moving as I know she can. Good head and neck, excellent shoulder, good body and rear.

Basenji

Junior – 2 entries, 1 absent

1. Jardine’s Tadrose North Star – Lovely Red and white bitch with an excellent head and expression. Good front angulation, correct in body and an excellent rear. Impressed in profile movement just needs to tighten slightly in rear. BOB and Hound Group 4

1. Jardine’s Woodella Hot Rod – 5yr old red and white dog with an excellent head. Good shoulders and body. Ok rear angulation. Moved well. Would prefer a tighter tail.

Deerhounds

Junior – 1 entry

1. Murray’s Seatonvalley Red Cherry Girl – 8 month old bitch of a lovely type. Long head, strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good ribbing and well bodied for age. Good rear with correct fall away. Moved well when settled for one so young. Very promising. BPIB and Hound Puppy Group 2

1. Murray’s Kenaiteen Seaton’s Angel – 2yr old smart bitch of good type. Good head and neck, excellent shoulders and ribbing. Correct loin and rear. Moved well but I’m sure would look more impressive if moved a little faster to show off her long gait. BOB

1. Hartland’s Franjean Check Me Out at Fairleedale (IMP POL) – 5yr old tri bitch with a lovely head and lovely expression. Good neck leading into well angulated shoudlers. Ribbing ok. Rear angulation balanced with front. Moved soundly with good profile movement. Slightly narrow going away. BOB

AVNSC Hound

Post Graduate – 4 entries, 2 absent

1. Thompson’s Drishaun The Vampire Lily Via Gothika JW – Afghan, BMG dog with a strong head and good eye. Lengthy neck leading in good shoulders, slightly short in upper arm. Good body and well angulated rear which he uses to power round the ring. True coming and going.

2. Moyes’ Bryelis Rebel Heart JW – Afghan, B/T dog, good head, well angulated shoulders. Ok in body and rear. Not moving as well as I’m sure he could.

Open – 3 entries, 1 absent

1. Hunter’s Neptune De Koulangar at Sulahmara (IMP FRA) JW – Afghan, well balanced BMG with a good head and neck. Well angulated shoulder with good length of upper arm. Well bodied and nicely angulated rear showing good length from hip to hock. When he settled on the move he showed excellent reach and drive. Extrovert character enjoying himself! BAVNSC and Hound Group 3

2. Clark’s Magida Sabiih Al Sahra at Thiefside (IMP) – Sloughi of beautiful type. Excellent head with good eyeshape and expression. Well boned and correct angulation. Good body with correct tuck up but slightly deep in chest. Would like a little more height but a lovely bitch and close up to 1.

Hound Group

1. Smith’s Alncroft Ivan Inkling – MWH Dachs. I awarded this lovely young lad his first CC last year when he was just a puppy and I am pleased he has continued to mature in the way I hoped he would. Excellent head and totally balanced throughout. True coming and going and shows good reach and drive in profile. Expertly handled to get the best out of him. Really lovely young dog.

2. Glaholm’s Gazenorth Secret Identity – Whippet of a lovely type, fawn bitch, really feminine. Good head and neck leading into well placed shoulders. Good depth of ribbing and well angulated rear. Very correct on the move, just flowing round the ring.

Hound Puppy Group

1. McKay & Mycroft’s Envisage This at Supeta – Whippet, lovely head and length of neck leading into clean, well angulated shoulders. Good depth of ribbing and correct top and underline. Good rear. Moved well with good reach and drive. Would prefer a little more length of leg.

1. Maxwell’s Brochinbelle Ride or Die for Bardrestan – 8 Month whippet dog with an excellent head. Shoulders ok for age, good top and underline. Well angulated rear. Moved soundly but slightly high stepping in front.

1. Smith’s Alncroft Phoebe Gonzalez – MWH Dachs, litter sister to the group winner and has many of her brother’s attributes. Good head, well angulated front and rear. Moved well. Would prefer a slightly harsher coat.

1. Scanlon’s Sharufa Dream Maker ShCM VW – Rhodesian Ridgeback – lovely 8yr old bitch with very good shoulders and body. Well angulated rear which she uses so well on the move. Really lovely girl with the most delightful temperament.

2. Hartland’s Newlin Inkspot at Fairleedale – Beagle in wonderful condition, loved her hear and expression. Good neck leading into well angulated shoulders. Balanced rear which she uses well on the move. Sound and true coming and going and looks good in profile.
